A couple of students from Holy Cross did a pretty good job of it.

WOW Pstar! You managed to get both Sioux-cia and TheTriouxper going with just one post. That is about five handfuls there. It is a long way down from here, and they will both be greasing the slide and filling in the hole after you.

This break is coming at a good time folks. This team is in significant injury mode at this time. Yes, all the key played this past weekend, but several are really on the barely walking wounded list. Now there will be some time for healing. I was extremely disappointed in how the team played this weekend, but they did win one of the two games. Take a look at the schedule. Thus far the Sioux have played Michigan State, BC, Northeastern, CC, MTU, Wisconsin, Denver, UMD, and UM. All ranked teams. The teams that UND has played so far are 74-47-21 at this point. The teams left on the schedule are 73-60-24. We have 4 games against St. Cloud, 2 against Mankato, 2 against Alaska, etc. There are no easy teams in the WCHA, but the teams that UND has left are clearly not doing as well as the teams that they have played. It doesn't mean they will win the WCHA, but they will finally be playing some teams not ranked in the top 20. The team was clearly in a funk this weekend and UM was not. Based on the injuries and the ability to practice this last week, it is amazing a couple of the guys even played.

This t-shirt idea is not smart. It simply proves the PC crowd correct about hostile and abusive. Not UND, but people in general.

The tribes are considered sovereign nations under the U.S. Government. Tribal lands that are part of the reservation are not under state jurisdiction, only federal jurisdiction. State regulations cannot touch them.

Hint #1: Many of us put obnoxious posters on the ignore list. Then it doesn't matter how many facts you post, they don't get seen. When it comes to credibility, half of it is facts, and half is attitude. So far you are only half right on that index. But this is just a suggestion. Hint #2: The administrator can also take matters into his hands if you don't learn to play nice.

More so than anything else, I believe that Prpich is held in such high regard by many is because he always worked hard, always had a smile on his face, was a total team player, and finally, he simply was a character. He brought things to the game you typically just don't see or experience. Not all were good, but much was, especially his last two years. No insinuation here about capabilities or anything else, just that Mike developed a following because of who he was.

How true, but the Sioux would be perpetually short-handed. Hell, the refs wouldn't even have to make them up as they go!

Sat Tickets For UND/UMD wanted
Siouxman replied to Sioux Hockey Fanatic's topic in Tickets wanted / for sale
An email came out from either the Alumni Association or The Ralph that students did not receive tickets to the UMD series over Thanksgiving weekend as part of their ticket package. So there are two whole sections of seats available. The email indicated that these seats are available at a discount to UND Alumni. I no longer have the email, but it said to contact the ticket office. -
It is a different game today than it has been in the past, so it is somewhat difficult to visualize how some of the great Sioux players of the past would fit into today's game. Having said that, I feel that we need a little help to get more scoring punch. I thought through many of the great offensive players, Troy Murray, Mark Taylor, Doug Smail, Phil Sykes, Tony Hrkac, the Panzers, Jason Blake, etc. My conclusion is that while we might have many great players to choose from, the one logical choice to best fit in with this group is Toews. He could slip right in between you know who and make this team instantly much better. We know the chemistry already exists. Hell, the DOT line could be the three Hobey Baker finalists, who knows! It would free up VV to center the #2 line, etc. From an instant impact perspective, that would be my pick.

Don't disillusion yourself that this can be overturned in a meeting where most or all of the members show up. We meet with tribes occasionally, or I should say try to meet with them. Almost 50% of the time, no one from the tribe shows up.

If its LaPoint or Malone, I think we will all be smiling at that time. Both Frattin and Trupp have shown great potential and if they aren't even our best it will be great. As for this year, I believe that if we had been playing the Robert Morris types early in the season we might have a couple of players near the Kyle Turris scoring pace. As it is, these tough early games will pan out later in the season. We have seen some dominant games out of this team against good competition (Michigan Tech on Saturday night, CC on Friday night, and WI on Saturday night). If we can work out the consistency issue, this is going to be a lot of fun.

If all we need is a practice goalie, lets send TheTriouxper out to the Italian Moon everyday before practice to prepare, and then lash him to the goalposts. It might add new meaning to the phrase "garbage goals!" Just kidding!!

There are definite times when Radke's grit is important to have in the lineup. Unfortunatly, he has shown a tendency not to recognize the appropriate times and has taken a number of ill-timed and bad penalties that have cost the team. He took one in Houghton (a cross-check) in October that was just plain a dumb play. I am guessing that his poor decision making has caused the coaching to give him a little time-out to assess things. At this point I applaud the move. Now we wait and see how he responds.

City/State you were born and where you live now? Born in Hazen, ND, now live in Fergus Falls, MN Did you attend UND? yes, 1975-78, B.S in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Business Administration Favorite current sioux player? Oshie, Duncan, Chorney, Kaip Favorite all time sioux player/s? Doug Smail, James Patrick, The Trees of North Dakota (see Sports Illustrated in the early 1980's - their name for the UND defense) Favorite all time NON sioux WCHA player and team? Brett Hull, UMD - cripes was he scary - every time he touched the puck I thought he would score. Had it all, skating, slap shot, wrist shot, speed, etc. Are you a season ticket holder? Yes, by SiouxElevens and the one and only - TheTriouxper

Its possible that he graduated from middle school and is now more mature.

Well, now that Siouxpuckster is off the bandwagon, there should be a empty seat the REA for someone who really cares and can enjoy this team. If you want a team that goes on a tear for the first 3/4 of the season and then dies when it comes to crunch time, I can make a recommendation just down I-94 about 170 miles from Fergus Falls. They seem to be loaded with fans of your attitude and you would fit right in. This team is still trying to find its style. Obviously the defense has been a little too offensive minded at times resulting in odd-man rushes, but that will be corrected. Guys are still learning their roles and their linemates. I would rather peak late than early.

Just got an email from The Ralph stating that the Nike Swift Jerseys will be available at the Sioux Sport Shop.

That schedule is a joke. Miami has exactly 10 games against teams ranked in the top 20. UND has 26 games, plus then the Final Five. Miami will never see the Frozen Four with that schedule. Even worse, when looking at top 10 teams, UND plays 16 games against top 10's and Miami plays exactly 4. They have an exhibition schedule.

Personally, I would prefer to just go with North Dakota. But, if we have to have a name and we want to include ND history, then "Grizzlies" would be a possibility. I have trouble really grasping on to that but it is better than blizzard, rain, sleet, etc. For those that don't know, grizzlies roamed the plains of ND during the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition (read "Undaunted Courage"). Reading the journals of their exploration provide accounts of several encounters with them. And yes, I know that a certain MT school already has that. On another note, everyone should be prepared in the near future to begin seeing stories and claims about Native Americans and other pro-name change individuals being offered cash or other incentives, or of being harrassed, intimidated, etc. about getting the tribes to agree to allow UND to continue to use the name Fighting Sioux. There have previously been unsubstantiated allegations of discrimination (without any details or proof) and I would expect that to be revived. Unfortunately, there will quite likely be a few situations that may prove to be true, but I believe that this is a tactic that will be used to reflect negatively on UND and its supporters. Finally, let's forget the three year thing and set a deadline for working with the tribes. Something by the end of 2008 or June 1, 2009. That way if it doesn't come to pass there is sufficient time to do the other thing, whatever that may be.

Read this Blog article about this loser from tech
Siouxman replied to proudsioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Our experience this weekend was totally positive. We talked and joked with a number of Tech fans and they were all nice. They tried to sell me a raffle ticket for a Tech jersey and said I could do whatever I wanted with it. They even mentioned that Halloween was coming and it could be used for that. A number of Tech fans discussed the name issue with me and everyone expressed support for the Fighting Sioux name. The Tech radio announcers talked about the tremendous fan support for the games. Saturday night attendance was 2,900 (including the numerous Sioux fans) and there were plenty of empty seats. This is not a huge hockey town. We went to a couple of bars after the games, and the people had to ask us who won. This idiot is just removing all doubt that he is an idiot. It was great meeting a number of posters at the games, including UNDPUCKS and Siouxfan77. -
I was the games this weekend and it was nice to Forney in there. He did some good things, but it was also evident he had not been in a game for a while. There were several times when he really had trouble with his balance, and he wasn't being touched. Here's hoping he continues to come along, because we can use his size.

Somebody, please tell me that there are some hot spots in Houghton!!
-
Yes, we be going, but the PCs (actually two of them) are going along and one of them will be doing model runs in the car on the drive as well as in the motel. Heck of way to travel. Siouxnami - I am cautiously optimistic about this year, but it is early and my comfort zone is quite small. I work at a utility and hedging has become a full time effort.

I don't share the wild enthusiasm about these games. Any time the #1 team comes in, the home team will be up for it. The Sioux have not exactly looked like world beaters either. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sioux take four points, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them come home empty handed either. Tech has two good goalies and good goalies can steal games. It will be tough, but I hope my presence there brings them luck.
