Season hockey ticket payments are due May 1. Don't forget to renew. We gladly did ours today. Can't wait for the new season.

The sole purpose is as a fundraiser, not to promote motorcycling. If only motorcycle riders bought tickets, they might not cover the cost of the prize. Look at it this way: Both motorcycles they have raffled off are up for sale, giving others a chance to buy one. More expensive than a $10 ticket, but it also gives you more of a chance to own one. Bidding has commenced and is up to $12,100.

Sorry, but that is not what you said. You said: There is a difference between what you said before and you made absolutely sure that you were clear on what you said. You are the one now doing the "spin."

I think that's called a "cult!"

Hey - Just what every cougar needs. By the way, have you seen the movie "Must Love Dogs?" There is a cougar line in it. Mrs. Siouxman and I just about lost it when we heard the line.

I didn't realize that they added a voice chip to the blowup ones!

Sorry, but MTU has a very long WCHA history. I would prefer to keep them. If anyone leaves, it should be UAA. That might not be good from their perspective, but to me they are the weakest link in the conference. There are geographically remote from the rest of the conference. I am not seeking to get rid of them, just that it would make more WCHA sense for them to go. MTU is fine geographically and they have had their good years in the league. Houghton is also a good place to visit as a fan. If anyone leaves, I believe that we would have several schools clamoring to get in (especially Bemidji), but I would hate to lose anyone other than UAA. I view the formation of a Big 10 conference a bigger threat to the WCHA.

Contrary to rumors, you are a soft touch!!

It wasn't done to absorb sound, but to make the place look nicer. Just look around the top edge of The Ralph. There is a ceiling that extends out over the upper level. Unless that material is steel or concrete, by its very nature (being soft or softer) it will tend to absorb sound waves and not reflect them. The same thing happens with wall coverings (they didn't exist in the old The Ralph either). And any empty leather seats will absorb sound. While we have the classiest hockey arena in college hockey, some of that class makes it tougher to create sound.

Maybe there should have been a Gopher buried under the floor, and a badger and an eagle and a tiger, a bulldog, a seawolf, a wolverine, and a pioneer, ... and so forth.

It isn't subjective that your ears are much older in the 1990's than they were in the early 1980's. Maybe you are overlooking a symptom of something.

This topic has been beaten to death ad nauseum over the past few years. The vast majority of it is due to construction. The old Ralph was all concrete, steel, and hard plastic seats. There was nothing there to absorb sound, so it was reflected and built upon itself. The new Ralph has lush leather seats that absorb sound, it has sound absorbent material around the ceiling, there is much less bare concrete on the walls, and it is a much larger box. Any sound person can tell you it will take much more output per fan in the new Ralph than the old Ralph to create the same db level of sound, even if fans otherwise behave exactly the same. Finally, in the old Ralph almost all of the fans were much closer to the action. That has an impact on the fans. These are the facts of life. Yes, are other reasons that involve fan behavior, but physics is a large part of it.

After watching all four teams, BC was clearly the best team there. Yes they are fast, but it was far beyond that. The BC players read the situations faster, they reacted faster, and they anticipated passes. To me that was the key. It was like they knew what was coming, and therefore they made the break at the right time and were always in position to get the rebound, intercept the pass, etc. Combining that speed with the other things made them well above the other three teams. They played a wonderful little trap game at the blue line when they were short handed. The Sioux never did figure out how to beat it. Notre Dame did once and almost scored when their player faked the pass into the trap and instead broke down the middle to the net. The one other thing that I noticed is while the other three teams tried to play physical along the boards, BC stayed back and used their outstanding hand, eye, and stick coordination to consistently come away with the puck. They were playing a different game and had the ability to do it.

Currently at mile marker 348 on I-80, overcast and all of the radio stations are talking about the coming storm. We should be there in another 6 hours or so. GO SIOUX!

Odds are 100/0 we will be disappointed if you aren't there. Start out heading for Hoggsbreath and end up in Denver.

Yes, but to compensate she knows lots of doctoring stuff, or so she says.

It depends upon "what" someone might be trolling for.

I would guess: General public: 25% UND: 30% BC: 5% Michigan: 20% Notre Dame: 20% BC fans don't even show up well in their own building.

Not only that, he is a poor second to Hakstol in hand signals!!

Three of us in 302 row 11 and two in 375 row 1. We'll be smiling down from above, and cheering like a voice from heaven.

Whoa, slow down a little. ND doesn't own the oil. They get a small slice of the pie, but most of it goes to whoever owns the oil and/or land rights, to cover drilling and pumping costs, etc. It isn't state owned, but the state will get some of the action, just like they do with the coal severance tax.

Agree - this year and next year!

I won't ridicule, but Toews is a better puck handler. T.J. is much more difficult to take off the puck however. They both have their strengths and that is why they fit together so well.

I've done it and timed it both ways. It is longer but faster to go to Omaha, and take I-680 west to I-80 west than to zigzag through the small towns. That is even more true now that Iowa raised their speed limit to 70 mph for the Sioux City to I-680 stretch.
