  1. Rube Bjorkman came into a program with a pretty good history, and a fine new arena that was pretty nice for that time period. And he pretty much did absolutely nothing for quite a few years. No conference championships, no NCAA playoffs, nothing.
  2. About that short memory thing.....It was a meltdown by Ohio State and a win by Wisconsin that got the Sioux in.
  3. Friday - Luke Johnson Saturday - Parks
  4. That is the place. If you Google it they show the sign.
  5. I am guessing that it is between Menominee and Escanaba on Hwy 35.
  6. We just returned from a trip to Maine. Along the NW shore of Lake Michigan, in the state of Michigan, we passed a place the sign identified as "Honest Injun Tourist Trap."
  7. I think Prpich gives Hextal a pretty good push in the entertainment area.
  8. It is really difficult to answer this question because the game of college hockey is so different today from what it was in the 1990's, which is different from the 1980's, which is different.... and on and on. Players that were dominant in their era, would be good but not great in a different era. Also, there are very few of us who have had to opportunity to watch Fighting Sioux hockey from the 1950's through today. And no, I am not part of that group. From a purely offensive perspective, the highlight videos of Tony Hrkac just amaze me even today. It is easy to forget the stuff he could do. If he had played another year in college it might be a little bit easier to call him the best. Doug Smail and Troy Murray are a couple of others that come to mind as pretty good. The best two way player probably comes down to Zach Parise or Jonathan Toews. There are arguments for both, but again there were differences in the game just in the few short years between their stints. In the Parise era there was much more clutching, grabbing, and interference allowed. That might give the nod the Parise.
  9. Season tickets arrived yesterday. So excited for the season to start.
  10. Ordered my Frozen Faceoff tickets today! I am ready to go.
  11. I assume you mean cavalry, the troops who annihilated Native Americans. I think the PC crowd will see scarecrows with this one. Calvary is a hill.
  12. If I recall correctly, the wording of the North Dakota law prohibits UND from even beginning the process of choosing a new name prior to 2015. UND needs to be careful how they go about this or any wingnut can file a challenge in court that UND violated state law. I believe that is why the UND announcement was very carefully worded to say the group is only looking at the process of selecting a new name at this time.
  13. At this time of year, there's a good chance that any kind of news will not be of the "good" kind.
  14. What?? Maybe it was supposed to be Fergie Sederoff.
  15. You might have it backwards. Duck season interferes with hockey season.
  16. The girl has been recovered in Parshall.
  17. Absolut keine, etwas norsky (absolutely no to anything Norsky)
  18. I could only hope that every young hockey prospect sees this. Not all are college material, but those that are need to give college some serious thought and commitment.
  19. I don't try to rile anyone up here. There is no way Kreider could have known that Price's leg would get caught like it did. But, you also have to question the slow motion video of the incident and Kreider's intent. Kreider's right leg gets slashed from the right side. Normally one would expect the right leg to move left from such a blow. If it did and Kreider went down, there wouldn't be such doubt. But Kreider's right leg goes out to the right against the direction of the slash. It could be Kreider decided to go down to draw a penalty or possibly a penalty shot. We don't know one way or the other. But if it happens again, expect a great deal of outcry about it and possibly some league investigation.
  20. The NY Rangers game plan? Have Kreider crash the front of the net, taking out Quick in goal with an injury. Suddenly the whole outlook swings in their favor.
  21. Okay, let me try to sort this out. I thought LA would win game 5, but Chicago won. I thought LA would win game 6 at home, but Chicago won. I now think Chicago will win game 7 at home, so does that mean LA will win?
  22. And if Lucic gets behind him he will be a lot lighter on his skates.
  23. Actually I don't have a clue what they were doing. One is male and one is female. Neither ever played hockey, but one was on a B17 crew in WWII. His injury came after the war though, maybe farming.
