  1. If the parents had taken it up with the school several times, then it isn't exploitation. It is using whatever tools are available to you to get something done. Public opinion is huge, and it appears they succeeded in getting some action. Supposedly the school district policy is the third bullying complaint against a student results in suspension but that did not occur in this case. That seems to indicate the parents have complained before. But again, that is their side of the story and the school has not provided any explanation except for the superintendent to say this is the first he had heard of it.
  2. Maine's Lomberg has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct. It seems to have involved an off-campus party. He has been suspended from the team until they complete an investigation. He had 18 points this past season, including 11 goals. Read more: http://www.uscho.com/2014/05/09/maine-junior-lomberg-reportedly-charged-with-assault/#ixzz31FzwrvoE
  3. What a shame. Guess they will have to moooooooooooove their practice someplace else.
  4. To his credit, it appears that he has had a winning record where he has been in his career. But yes, it might be interesting to note why he was let go from the Blackhawks and then left his AHL job after just one year.
  5. Me thinks you are confused. Please cite a reference where anyone has ever claimed Philadelphia fans were intelligent.
  6. I am also somewhat surprised by this pick. But, Murray has successfully transitioned from the pros to Western Michigan. It just seems to me that CC better hope that their two assistants don't feel snubbed and go looking elsewhere.
  7. I don't know your situation and I don't know all of the facts in this situation. But your words are telling. You say you were picked on, more than once. It appears this girl was picked on day after day after day. Some of it was physical. Intentionally causing physical injury with a pencil is assault. This is different than occasionally being picked on. And the fact that the bus driver and the school did nothing makes it even worse. These are people that kids are taught to look up to. When these role models fail in their responsibilities, it is a tremendous blow and feeling of helplessness. You feel all alone. As a former bus driver, I am disappointed in the behavior of this bus driver.
  8. I was somewhat upset at the Vikings first pick, until they maneuvered to get Bridgewater. Now their first round looks pretty good. I did not want them to pick Manziel. Yes, he has tons of talent, but his mental game (off the field) is not where it needs to be. The quarterback needs to be a leader of the team. Think of one of the most mentally prepared and disciplined athletes we know (Toews) and then look at Manziel. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Manziel had enough off field issues in college, and then issues with the draft workouts to cause red flags for many teams. Unfortunately for him, he will not have a role model to teach him at Cleveland.
  9. NCHC says it is Mike Haviland.
  10. He will have far less time in the NHL. Most of the time as soon as you get the puck someone is in your face. The defense is much tougher. I think Rocco has the speed and he has the creativity. What he does not have yet is the discipline to not do something he knows he shouldn't do. He attempts passes that are high risk/low reward and create opportunities for the opponent. This is what got him benched with the World Juniors team. While he has improved, he still would occasionally do something that would make you say "Oh no!" The risks associated with those mistakes is much higher in the NHL. I don't believe that he has a chance of staying in the NHL until he learns that boundary of his creativity.
  11. Yes, but they are still guilty by association. It is kind of like being infected.
  12. Okay....I've held off but here are the teams I am rooting for in this round. Montreal-Boston: Gotta go with the Canadians because I am a throw back Canadians fan to the 1970's and the days of Guy Lafleur. That and I dislike BC, BU, Red Sox, Bruins, etc. Used to be a Celtics fan but I cannot stand the NBA anymore for what it has become. And I used to like listening to Roger Doucet do the Canadian national anthem. Chicago-Minnesota: Going with Chicago simply because I believe they are a more skilled team. LA Kings - Anaheim Ducks: Going with the LA Kings, the Matt Greene factor. Besides they have some other guys that are fun to watch. NY Rangers-Pittsburgh Penguins. I am hoping for seven triple overtime games so that the winner will lose in the next round. Can't stand either team. For Pittsburgh it is the Cindy factor and for NY it is the Tortorelli factor. Overall, Chicago to win the cup.
  13. It might be worth an investigative telephone call to the local constabulary to determine if laws have potentially been broken. That certainly falls into the category of electronic harassment. At the least it is unauthorized use of your likeness.
  14. The NCHC needs to have four more teams so that there can be a first round playoff on campus for the top six seeds, then six teams make the tournament. . . . . oh wait . . . . we had that and called it the WCHA Final Five. The P1G didn't like that it wasn't their's so they messed it all up.
  15. Very interesting. Mike Milbury had a very good discussion about knee on knee contact on NBCSP tonight during the period break, since there was another knee on knee contact in a game tonight. They showed video of several knee on knee contact incidents, explaining the reason they occurred. Such as a change in direction, or someone with a wide stance that made absolutely no move to stick out their knee yet did make contact. And the last one they showed was Matt Cooke, and that was the only one identified as a blatant attempt to make contact. So it must be a matter of perspective. And if the so-called professional experts can't agree on a position, how are we amateurs supposed come to a consistent perspective.
  16. Alex Goligoski - Minnesota
  17. I will jump right on helping up your count so you can catch Goon!
  18. Besides, it helps pad your post count!
  19. Holding, interference, and tripping calls are frequently questionable and those I understand. My concerns regard the blatant assault type penalty situations. Those are usually not quite as questionable.
  20. I must say that I am very disappointed in the NHL and the Stanley Cup playoffs. It seems as if the refs have swallowed the whistles and just about anything goes. Between head shots, knee on knee shots, two handed slashes, spearings, and cup checks it is becoming a pathetic display of thuggery against the top players of all teams. It is disgusting to see the number of players that are missing games due to injuries from cheap shots. It cheapens the league, the playoffs, and the stature of Lord Stanley's cup. I thought the NHL made a significant step forward with the way the game was changed after the last lockout. It became a much faster and more exciting game. Now they seem to be slipping backwards because once the playoffs start they quit calling the penalties. I noticed it last year and this year seems worse. It appears that almost anything goes as long as it is in the interest of winning the cup.
  21. Both places are wearing a cup, so both should be penalized.
  22. provided the Hawks win two games. If they only win one, its 4-1 Blues.
  23. Concussions are the big emphasis. Low blows don't cause concussions.
  24. FYP - you mean like that? Just kidding!
  25. Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman - book it
