Great effort again by the Sioux Sports players. We had three sets of lines and two pairs of defense vs. eight or nine skaters. I believe your goalie again earns player of the game honors as it was still a 3-1 game midway through the third.

It wouldn't have been a cheap shot had the puck arrived a split second sooner or Vanelli a split second later. Duncan was put into a bad spot by the soft/slow pass and defensemen have been making that hit for as long as there has been hockey. The Sioux aren't the only team in hockey allowed to hit. There was no elbow or crosscheck.

I haven't seen the Gophers willing to hit in so long I'll take what I can get. They have all the 6+ footers and rarely choose to bump anyone.

The Duncan play let UND know for the first time in several years that the Gophers were going to hit back for a change. Vanelli's timing must have been a fraction off and he got there a moment too soon, the pass to Duncan is known as a 9-1-1 pass. Slow and behind him. Greene and company made a living of destroying forwards on similar plays, deal with it.

This matchup should be closer than last year, but the result looks the same to me. Jack Johnson will take some stupid penalties leading to Sioux PP goal(s).

I hope your right but the NCAA paints themselves into a corner with their needless seeding rules. I support PWR picking the teams for the tourney, but in the national tourney they should avoid having any top two seeds in a given region from the same conference.

They have a BC/UNH rematch set and a Gophers/UND rematch set. Stupid. PWR is not accurate enough to warrant strict adherence when seeding the teams.

Good points all the way around. This Bucky/SCSU tilt has a ultra-rare situation where UW will probably pull their goalie in the last minute of OT. I haven't seen that since a DU/CC matchup back in the '90s when DU was trying to deny CC the McNaughton on the last night of the regular season.

Lucia can't possibly win with some here. The last two weekends he has stately flatly with no sandbagging or evil intentions that UND is the team to beat from the WCHA. He may have qualified it with a "probably" after the Alaska game three, but anyone who listened to his radio comments last night is crazy if they take that as insulting. Lucia and anyone who has seen UND the last few months know they are a buzzsaw right now. I want Michigan over Notre Dame because it gives the Gophers the best chance at avoiding UND in the regionals. That gives the Gophers possibly another three weeks to get better and maybe take the edge off the Sioux. Tonights game should be a blast as they always are between the Sioux and the Gophers. Up and down the ice, but the Sioux have a big edge on the top line and depth and goaltending are a push at best for the Gophers. Unless Lamoureux has a meltdown game it's hard to see the Sioux losing again this year, even then it may not be an issue. The Sioux look the like the Gophers in '03 to me.

The last two weeks he's said UND is the best team in the country, really just stating the obvious. The Gophers are going to give up at least two or three to Toews line, so the rest of the guys have to completely out play the rest of the Sioux. From the looks of yesterday that isn't going to be easy either. I'm pulling for Michigan over Notre Dame, otherwise it seems like we could be doing this again next weekend.

We all know about Briggs. We don't know about JP in the post season yet. The way UND is playing it may not even matter who is in nets.

Amazingly they didn't give up on the AA PPs, but they wasted 10 minutes of the two periods they were able to skate.

You can talk now. AA was in control for 30 minutes Friday, and the last 20 Saturday, tonight is a tossup. The Gophers and their insistance to take idiotic penalties are simply amazing.
