  1. And I bet he was listening to Henry Rollins while he was cutting and pasting.
  2. The McNaughton doesn't mean anything. Any gutless/heartless team can grind it out from October to March and outpoint three or four other top ten teams in the country. It's those third place games and the X that really matter.
  3. In the immortal PCM paraphrase mode: Hak: Hak is very happy with his team. Two Sat. home games were the only problems. Every other game was good, just didn't get all the results. PA: Is it fair to say if you shut down Oshie and Duncan you can beat UND? Hak: Not fair. Not at all. You will have to see UND to appreciate how great we are. Dubay: Blah.. Blah... Hak: It's nice having a great senior goalie. The Denver series was great goaltending, one night Manino got the win, the second night PHIL got the win.
  4. Yeah, yeah. And when Wooger takes him down, you guys will be crying about the refs. Of course you all might do that even if Blais wins.
  5. I can live with the wrap arounds, they are tough to stop at times. I hope he keeps his eyes on Bina the whole time.
  6. The telling stats isn't the penalty minutes, we all know the Sioux are a bunch of hacks well deserving of their three extra minors per game. Sadly the telling stats are the goal differentials and it is pretty depressing where I sit. Can't see both nights being close unfortunately.
  7. It's all going to come down to goaltending. With Woog being built lower to the ground he should have a better view and prevail.
  8. Lots of insecurity showing this last page and a half. You guys realize you have decent hockey program right?
  9. Have him email Lucia and GPL ahead time so we know who our top line is.
  10. Kangas was brutal against Tech and it will take a Frazee meltdown to get him on the ice.
  11. Is the the real Blaiser or are you going with a mini-Blais? I'm going with Wooger taking revenge on the guy who basically pushed him out of the job. Hopefully he fires out a jersey pop or two.
  12. Kind of right. I believe those Lucia comments were made when the Gophers were out of it in '03-'04. Rather than pack it up for the season, Lucia was trying to keep the boys on task so they could do well in St. Paul. It's not like he made those comments week three after getting blitzed by UND. Either way it didn't work and they finished 4th. Fortunately UW gagged vs. AA and the Gophers avoided the playin game and ended up winning the playoffs. Only to lose to UMD a week later. Lucia was thought not celebrating the McNaughton in '05-'06 was silly from the outset. One of his quotes immediately was something to the effect that you should celebrate all your accomplishments, because you never know when you won't get another chance. Then Gino and the boys lose three straight in the playoffs. I think all players and coaches desparately want the league title. If two teams were playing each other for the league championship in the final weekend it would be games similar to the two the Gophers and UND played at the end last year. That said I don't think guys like Hakstol/Gwoz/Owens/Lucia/Sandy are going to kill their guys before January of their league results are that great. The season is simply too long. I have know idea what the psycho in Madison does, he seems a little hyper tense and if I were betting that some WCHA coach was going to snap it would be him.
  13. It's a pretty big deal to those who are winning them. Not that I care about it much... This year.
  14. This was true up until last year. Now your winning percentage becomes far and away the most important factor in your RPI. Unless of course I missed another new change to the formula. Either way UND need not worry unless they start getting swept.
  15. Is whining about the refs really necessary when the Gophers lose and the Sioux have the weekend off? The Gophers are in a lot more trouble in my opinion than the last two Sioux slow starters. It's one thing to play well and not get results, what I'm watching is something totally different.
  16. I usually agree with your posts, but honestly the Sioux are never undermanned vs. the Gophers or Michigan. The Gophers in case you didn't notice made the Frozen Four three years ago gritting out two home OT games in the regional. Two years ago we had the HC game which we fans will deservedly suffer for a long time. Last year they showed plenty of grit all season winning both the league and Final Five. Then they came up a goal short vs. a pretty damn good Sioux team who probably should have won the whole tourney.
  17. Bucky understands drinking and cheering. Not hockey. That is why his shins are sore. Goldy understands hockey and wears shin pads. Unfortunately Goldy can't do the Gwoz dance on the boards (albeit with skates on) without paying a severe penalty.
  18. I think UND, CC, and DU are tourney teams. All have the goaltending and the high end forwards to make it. UMN, UW, SCSU, Tech, and UMD battle for one or two other NCAA spots, all of these teams have big holes in their game right now. However they can all win on a given night vs. anyone in the country. The change in RPI formula is again likely to keep a fifth WCHA team out of the tourney, which is a shame in my opinion.
  19. He seemed like a big deal at the time and I thought the Gophers wanted him as well. There is a lot more room in the lineup for forwards who don't produce the expected big points vs. an offensive defenseman who are often not as good as others in their own zone for whatever reason.
  20. At the time of his recruitment wasn't Radke expected to be a dynamic offensive force?
  21. Maybe the US boys were just simply the more aggressive team, kinda like that series down at Mariucci last year. Than penalty shot our goalie saved is a head scratcher.
  22. GAME SUMMARY Scoring By Period USA 0 1 0 1 RUS 1 0 1 2 First Period - 1, RUS, Orlov #28 (Orlov #15, Salatov), 12:21 (pp). . Second Period - 1, USA, Palmieri (Calabrese), 16:47. Third Period - Scoring: 2, RUS, Semen (Orlov #15, Molotiov), 6:57 (pp). Shots by Period 1 2 3 Total USA 7 13 9 29 RUS 7 12 7 26 Goaltenders (SH/SV) 1 2 3 Total USA Maxwell 60:00 7-6 12-12 7-6 26-24 RUS, Reyzbikh 60:00 7-7 13-12 9-9 29-28 Power Play: USA 0-2; RUS 2-12 I'm thinking the boys felt like they got a served a little Russian home cookin' based on the last line of the box and literally went nuts.
  23. Nice. City/State you were born and where you live now? Eagan, MN - MPLS, MN Did you attend UND? Only a couple times for ballgames. Favorite current sioux player? Oshie, even though apparently he has become a first rate hack. Favorite all time sioux player? Siembeda (sp) Favorite all time NON sioux WCHA player and team? Pohl, John.
  24. While I hope many WCHA teams get into the tourney I think the RPI adjustment will prevent five from making it again anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong, but with RPI de-emphasizing schedule strength it will negate a lot of the WCHA advantage.
  25. I think this is the first look of what will be the West Regional Finals. Unless of course someone goes and pulls a Holy Cross on you guys.
