    Injuries?

My only knock on LaPoint, if it's really a knock at all, is that he needs to be quicker with his decision-making. When I was at the games this weekend, he would have time to clear the puck and end up making a poor decision or just waiting too long to make the right one. He played ok, just needs to catch up to the speed of the game it seems to me.
  3. Winona State made the playoffs by being their conference champion and being in the top 10 in the region, not necessarily the mandated top 6. They actually bumped a so-called "playoff" team out of the playoffs. I wouldn't have considered them a playoff team in any of the seasons we played them, especially the Northwest Region that we were in.
  4. I hope it's a better caliber than Winona State, who we've beat a collective 222-39(49-2, 42-0, 51-6, 44-2, 36-29) over the past 5 meetings. That's an average of 44-8. Wait until you start beating the same team at that level during the regular season and the playoffs. The attendance will drop. The interest just isn't there. Winona State vs. UND is comparable to NDSU vs. Valpo.
  5. I didn't realize it was bragging. My apolgies. The point I was trying to make is that there are Sioux fans all over the country and the demand is very high for tickets in a lot of places. I'm just one fan, out of the many, who loves Fighting Sioux athletics. As for the comment I bolded, I don't think there's one individual out there that "deserves" tickets. Students or general population altogether. A lot of people want tickets. But I don't deserve tickets. Joe Schmo doesn't deserve tickets. My new message for ticket purchasing: Plan Ahead, Plan Accordingly, and, if needed, Get Lucky.
  6. Sneaker's Bar? Where's that in Duluth? I moved here last June and have never heard of or been to that bar. As for hotels, there's a ton within a few blocks of the arena. The Suites, Canal Park Lodge, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Comfot Suites, Best Western.
  7. Does anyone really know whose fault it was? UND's or Ticketmaster's? From the looks of it, I would say Ticketmaster. Sorry to disappoint you, but whining on a message board won't get you anywhere. Especially this one. There's people on here and across the country that have travelled and will travel circles around you to see the Sioux. Myself, I've been to Mankato, Michigan Tech, Minnesota, Duluth, plus travelled back to Grand Forks to catch all the home games(minus Minnesota). And that's this year. I've travelled to Milwaukee in 1997 and 2006 for Frozen Four's. Columbus in 2005. St. Louis last year. Bottom line, if you want tickets bad enough, there's always a way to get them. I've begged, pleaded, camped out, and negotiated my way to tickets. It won't do you any good to sit on here and sulk. Besides, there's bigger prizes and road trips out there.
  8. All I'm doing is speculating. Everyone can do it. Is a goal post not an outside force by your definiton above? An inch one way or the other, who knows, this game might not have gone 3 OT's. A goal post has nothing to do with player performance.
  9. I think you just answered your own question.
  10. What if Grafton doesn't hit the pipe with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd and it goes in? What if Simonson from Red River doesn't hit the pipe with less than a minute to go and it goes in? What if Ladoucer from Red River didn't get injured and played his normal minutes? All you're doing is speculating. The fact is, is that Red River had almost 30 minutes of game action after that goal to score and couldn't. Grafton did. End of story.
  11. Grafton didn't win because of that missed call.
  12. That's because he always shoots high. He shoots the puck, just never hits the net. I can't remember the last time I saw him take a shot that was below the cross bar.
  13. Does UND officially take attendance now? 2 years ago, they couldn't technically, but teachers found ways around it. Besides, if students choose to camp out, why not? UND most likely already has been paid by the student(self, parents, loans, etc.) by hockey season so it's not like UND is out any money.
  14. If he was sleeping on the couch, he should be well-rested. I expect nothing less than a Grade-A performance today from UND.
  15. Try telling that to a computer... From an outsider's perspective, it's silly to stand in line now than do it on ticketmaster. Even if you're one of the first few in line, you gotta wait your turn one-by-one.
  16. Isn't what happend to the DU player exactly what happend to Kaip and Breuss last year at The Ralph? Breuss was on top of Kaip throwing punches with Kaip's head on the ice. What did Kaip do? He fought back and tied his guy up and if not for a previous fight, he would have landed his fair share. No ref's or AR's to stop the fight. The bigger point is that the coaches didn't seem to care after the game. They didn't complain/whine to the league. The coaches understood.
  17. i am interested but in GF....218-779~0318 or PM me
  18. 1-1 UAA and MSU Now...11 to go in 1st
  19. Found this on a link from Brad's Blog: ESPN "While the triumvirate of McLeod, Shepherd and Adam sorted out what ended up being 93 penalty minutes being assessed after the game had ended, both sides shook off the youth-gone-wild exhibition as little more than escalated emotions that were to be expected when heated (read: hated) rivals get reacquainted." Someone can answer this for me: Is it common protocol, or even within the rules, to have someone besides the referee and AR's determine what the penalties are? You might as well throw a fan in there to sort it out if that's the case. It just seemed a little odd to me.
  20. I live in Duluth, and except for the 1st Duluth series of the year, I've been able to listen and watch all games on Main Street without any problems.
  21. From the Denver Post Blogger Mike Chambers: "Please check back after 3:30 p.m. today and, at the very least, you
  22. I know what you mean, but... It sure would be a great turn out, crowd-wise, for the NCAA...They can see $$$ signs as well as I can. Denver would be a lot better turnout, I believe, than Columbus, OH. And it's a hockey town in a hockey area. Columbus wasn't. WCHA fans travel well, the best I've seen at least.
