  1. Everyone would like to sit in the lower bowl, not just students. Regarding the old arena, unfortunately the only time the student section was even close to full was the Gopher games (and it was packed).
  2. Or students could take it easy on the swearing and only stand when there is a big hit or goal. That would be much easier and fair than rewarding bad behavior of students with more and better seats.
  3. Hopefully there were padded, breakaway nets at the pond tournament.
  4. Of course Sioux fans are jealous, the Sioux mens team can't even beat Minot State.
  5. This Sioux mens team would be a .500 team playing in the Dac 10. I don't think that is an exaggeration.
  6. Hmmm, the Bison just knocked off Wisconsin in basketball and the Sioux get beat by teams like Minot State. Two programs going two very different directions.
  7. As long as Glas remains coach, moral victories might be the best that you can hope for.
  8. Actually, your argument does not work. If you are a student, and working, chances are you are not making much money and hence not paying much money in state tax. However, many of the season ticket holders have steady salaries and many are even business owners. This means that they are paying considerably more in state tax than the students are. On a side note, many of the students that I have come in contact with pay for part of their college with loans, loans that are subsidized by the Federal taxpayer (which includes season ticket holders). Students are needed at games. If they would only stand during a goal or a big hit (and not the whole game) there would be no problem.
  9. For the 1,000th time, the argument of "I pay more tuition than a season ticket costs", holds no water. The taxpayer of North Dakota (ie season ticket holders included) pay much more to subsidize ND colleges than those tuition payments. Also, keep students where they are at and "ENFORCE THE RULES". If students are moved to an end, the behavior will continue without enforcement. Also, moving them to the end the Sioux shoot at twice would be rewarding them for bad behavior which does not make sense. Maybe if they keep acting up, they will take over the suites next.
  10. I am guessing the state subsidies (the North Dakota tax payer) pays much more towards UND than student tuition and fees do. I don't have the numbers though.
  11. Fluke win? I didn't realize that the last minute of a game shouldn't count. That was no fluke win my friend, it is called a choke. A term that South has become familiar wtih. Considering the numbers struggle that Central has had for the last ten years, it is amazing that they have won those two titles. If I am not mistaken, they were in the championship game and lost at least another three to four times since 1994. Not exactly the fall of Rome.
  12. Once again, no specific examples. Just vague references to poor sportsmanship.
  13. Because the argument is Grand Forks versus Fargo, not RR vs South or Central vs North. Also, I have not taken the time to research the numbers, but how does South compare in student size to the Grand Forks High Schools combined? Another thing to consider is what happens when Fargo builds another high school? Will South's limited success decrease even more due to dilution of the talent pool?
  14. Fargo South has an above average team this year and Moorhead is rebuilding (still good but rebuilding). South barely beats them and all of a sudden people think that the balance of power is shifting to ND. As far as having guts, GF Central and RR have been playing Warroad forever. If I remember right, in 02-03 GF Central beat Warroad. It was one of only two losses on the year for Warroad, who did win the state title that year. Even with the victory, GF teams did not brag up the victory. That is the difference between GF teams and Fargo teams. GF teams are used to being winners and know how to handle success. Fargo teams are not used to winning and they get overconfident after one big win. As far as youth teams in both cities, I ask everyone not to compare records. I am worried that we will have to start listening about someone's kid that plays on a Fargo Flyers mini mini mite team that always beats Grand Forks teams, not to mention any names.
  15. I thought South's big run was supposed to start last year? What happened? They had the best record but were not the best team. This year once again, they have a good team. However, are they going to fold when it really matters? Maybe maybe not, but you are delusional if you think South will rattle off a four to six year streak of championships. Grand Forks Schools do have down years, and this may be one of them, but they never stay down for long.
  16. Drop Men's BBall down to D3 so they can compete. All other sports to D1
  17. Following your logic, why is Minot State able to recruit better players than UND with such a Div-1 juggernaut like NDSU stealing all of the talent? The only thing a move to D-1 would do at this point is increase the average loss from about 10 points to about 50 points per game.
  18. Good point regarding Solich. I would like to add that if Callahan does not improve on the 8 win season next year he will probably be out of work.
  19. If wishes were horses, we would all be knee deep in poop. I consider UND to be a solid academic school. I also consider UND to be the type of school where excellence should be expected of its sports teams. As far as the Northern Sun and DAC conference, are you sure that they are improved? Or has the NCC and UND fallen down to their level?
  20. How about this for introductions, just prior to the Harvard line up, the REA sound guy should play the clip from Revenge of the Nerds where the Alpha Beta's start the Nerds chant. He would probably be looking for employment the next day but it would be funny.
  21. I apologize for my post. It appears that you are correct. Rich Glas is definitely the right coach if consistent mediocrity is what you crave. Obviously, you are happy with just getting to the party. Think about it, you are getting excited over a bunch of regional tournament bids. I suppose that you are also a Timberwolves fan. Hey, they make the playoffs almost every year so they must be awesome. Never mind the fact that they almost never win once there. Regardless of geographic proximity, a school like UND should be able to field a more competitive team.
  22. Let's see here, you have a coach that has basically run a program into the ground. Think about the teams that UND now plays and struggles to beat (and many times lose to). UM Crookston, Minot, U of Mary, etc. Embarassing. The only success that Glas has had was when Guldseth and Vonesh dropped into his lap and when Beasley needed a place to play. I would not go watch this current garbage if tickets were given to me. All I know is that if I performed on my job like Glas has performed on his for the last 10 years, I would no longer have a job. There are performance expectations that must be met at my job. Why are there not expectations as a UND Mens BB coach?
  23. I know some Freshman were missing but that is no excuse for the product that was put out on the ice tonight. The Sioux had very few really good chances. Most of the shots were from the perimeter where the goalie had a good view. I am also somewhat puzzled by the stategy of passing up a straight on shot from inside the blue line in favor of a sharp angle shot during power plays. Last time I checked, Drew Stafford was a first round draft pick, Travis Zajac was a first round draft pick, Chris Porter has the ability to score. What happens next year when Toews and Oshie leave early and there are no Freshman to carry the load?
  24. You play your biggest rival at home and end up playing a total of about 10 minutes of quality hockey.
  25. Sad. All I want for Christmas is a home victory. Just one.
