  1. As I said on the other thread, Studsrud will start and Hanson is backup. The only question is whether or not Bartels will play again this year. Hopefully whatever his injury, I hope he gets better quickly.
  2. Bubba interviewed sure made it sound like Ryan will play. Hope so.
  3. I would be very surprised if it isn't announced they are pulling Studsrud's redshirt and he starts Sat. Will have to see.
  4. That would be good news and this team needs some good news with regards to injuries. Heard earlier today Bartles might also be done with shoulder injury and Studsrud getting redshirt pulled. Not jconfirmed. Would be good if someone in GF could find out. Would also be good if they didn't have to pull Studrud's redshirt.
  5. Haven't heard what is wrong with Bartels, but expect to have redshirt pulled from Studsrud. Don't know if they will start him but I would expect it or they wouldn't need to pull redshirt. I assume Hanson would be back-up. If they were going to start Hanson, then I thought they could bring Studsrud along and pull redshirt only if they played him. Not sure if any of that has changed, don't keep up. Joe lasted 8 games, Bartels lasted less than 2. They must protect these remaining QB's. Might have to move Labat if anyone else gets hurt. He played QB in HS when Mollberg was hurt.
  6. Estimates, 4 weeks post surgery to walk, 4-6 months to return to regualr activity.
  7. No reason to waste a year of eligibility for fans to see what Stensrud has. I'm pretty sure coaches have a good idea of Stensrud's ability. Maybe if Bartels was also done but not for one game. It would be a tough decision for Bubba. I haven't heard Bartles is hurt other than a poster on this blog "heard a rumor". Hard to know validity.
  8. Don't think any of the teams can be considered comparatively weak to us. I said before the SUU game every game would be a dogfight. The part of the schedule remaining doesn't have teams we shouldn't be able to compete with but you are probably correct in that "weak" isn't best description.
  9. I see info has been released. He has a ruptured Achilles Tendon. Usually 4-6 months to recover. Assume surgery this week. Too bad for Joe. Hope he makes quick recovery.
  10. Hadn't heard Bartels was hurt. Joe is done for season. Would hate to have to pull redshirt on Stensrud for season with no hope for playoffs. I would play Hanson in games where outcome is decided to protect Bartels.
  11. Yup. I would have worded it differently. I would have said we never gave Joe a shot at throwing >40 times in a game. There were no throws or decisions made yesterday that Joe hasn't made, both good and bad. I think Ryan can get the job done but he needs the same thing Joe needed:Time to throw and guys catching the ball, running the right routes and running game capable of keeping a defense honest. Hopefully Joe can recover from this and until he does the job is Ryan's.
  12. My skin in the game is the success of UND FB. It is Bartles job the rest of the season and I hope he develops into an All - American and has a long NFL career. The fact I have defended Mollberg is nothing more or less than my opinion, just like your criticism of Joe all year is your opinion. Your inconsistency in your criticism is what I pointed out. I don't believe our QB's are handcuffed by poor coaching. The defense has been improving. When they started playing well yesterday, and we got back in the game we threw the pick. You would not have blamed that on the coaching or the defense.
  13. Shouldn't be "ripping on Ryan" anyway. He has had plenty of preparation. This is college FB not HS. The experts here don't think practice means much anyway. The point is there is no reason to "rip" on either of these guys but if that is what one does, then if you wish to maintain credibility, then I seem to have missed the undue criticism of Bartles that is reserved for others. Garmin is another example. Give him some room he can be an effective RB. He won't run over people and may not break every arm tackle but some of these same folks who demand a new coach, new QB, new bus driver, whenever we struggled, don't get it. This is a work in progress. At this time, there is no reason to compare anymore cuz Ryan is the guy for the rest of the season. Our line needs to protect him. I think he will do fine given protection, but we need to catch the ball and continue to have some semblance of a running game.
  14. Not sure how much validity there is in your opinion of the QB situation anymore. Where was the scathing criticism of the under thrown, overthrown deep passes the pick 6 thrown that the points were delayed by their penalty that took us out of a game where we were coming back. This was against one of the weakest defenses in the league if not the FCS. Don't make the wind excuse, the other guy completed over 90% of his passes. Had Joe been the QB with the exact same results you and a couple others would have been screaming again. I don't mean this as a criticism of Bartles as much as pointing out that a lot of you folks don't understand the issues with our offense. Mollberg has been getting hammered all season and gets knocked out for the season by another missed block. Until now, he has survived and has been developing into the leader and QB most of us were believing he could. I don't know that Ryan could have taken the same physical beating and lasted this long. Having said that, Bartles is capable and we have teams coming up on the schedule we can beat. Although Bartles struggled yesterday, if he is given time, he can be an effective QB. Receivers need to catch the damn ball no matter how much " zip" it has and they need to run the right routes. The RB's need to hang on to the ball and the oline needs to be more than a speed bump. We need to be patient with Bartles just like we needed patience with Joe. I would also get him out of the game when the outcome is decided to try and keep him healthy to get through the season. Can't have defensive breakdown like yesterday. No excuse. Keys were the unusual decision to take the wind instead of defer decision on opening kickoff, Norberg's fumble on the pitch, failure to make first down on fake punt, Mollberg's injury, first int by Bartles when defense started playing and we had shot at getting back in game and the overall lack of intensity esp by defense. This is game we should have won.
  15. Not his knee
  16. The message there genius is that there is no excuse for how the defense is playing. We aren't out of this yet. We are playing a team with a weak defense. If we give Bartels time and hang on to the ball we can score on these guys.
  17. Bartles is capable. He faces same challenges Joe did. Receivers don't always run right route and don't always catch ball. Don't have as much time as some of you think sometimes. The offensive issues aren't and haven't been the QB. If Bartels can bring us back, he starts and with Joe hurt he probably starts anyway. Reason fake punt there isn't bad call is cuz no one else thought we should fake it either and it should have gone. I didn't like taking wind and giving up ball to start game but I understand it. Defense hasn't adjusted to Mountain time.

    Measure 5

For the life of me can't understand why this even has life. Why restrict the flexibility of the legislature to decide where the funds are spent each year? If we need money for the environment then appropriate what is needed. If we need more than 5% then spend more. If measure 5 passes the chance of getting more than that is slim. If less than 5% is needed then they have the flexibility to spend less. Guaranteeing money like this tends to lead to waste. Some of that 5% might be needed elsewhere. Similar legislation in Minnesota though not related to oil, guarantees money for environment and arts. Has led to waste in some cases and that money can't be used elsewhere. Stupid to limit flexibility and options but still need to protect environment. This isn't the way to do it.
  19. I would expect this game and all of the rest of the games on our schedule to be tough games. I'm not sure what would lead us to believe this, or any other game left on our schedule, would be a blowout. We are capable of winning this game and if we keep improving, hopefully we will be able to compete in every game left on the schedule.
  20. GFhockey takes QB's and assigns the rest of the GOBC to the other duties. the team is in good hands.
  21. I think that is the frustration many have with Joe. There was a lot of excitement when he turned down the Ag School and had a lot of interest from Iowa and Northern Illinois. Neither of these guys developed last year as they could have/should have. Lots of factors but one of them is going to be our guy going forward and this staff thinks it is Mollberg. They need to know if they are right or wrong. There isn't any game this year that has answered that question, even the MSU game where he played poorly. I understand the criticism, but your former high school coach thinks Mollberg is the better QB. I do to so far. Expectations are very high and dissapointment will be more for Joe and not so much with Ryan. They both can play, but can Joe be a guy who can carry a team? Maybe, I still think so, but hell, my opinion is no more valid than say... GFhockey or yours. . The jury is still out on both of these guys and they both better be ready to play and stay ready to play. If one isn't playing and pouts, he won't ever be the guy. I think they are both handling this pretty well so far. This staff will never make a decision based on fan opinion and they shouldn't. I think they are both capable of being successful.
  22. Bartles did a good job and I expected he would. He is a good QB. For some of you, there is nothing that Mollberg can do that will satisfy you. He played well against both Montana and against Portland. He threw a pick 6 against Montana State but played a decent game. Some of these wide open receivers people talk about are not always the entire story. Bartles missed a wide open reciever in the end zone but was getting pressured. Some games he will make that play and some days he won't. He did make a good throw on the TD but wasn't perfect. It isn't going to be. Leading 2 scoring drives in second half was good, but not a miracle nor unexpected. Remember if Tillman doesn't score we likely don't win. That wouldn't have been Bartle's fault but it would have been Mollberg's fault had he been the QB. . Hd Mollberg been the QB at end of first half and not let the play clock run down before the snap he would have been crucified by some of you. If you guys think musical QB's is anyway to go you are nuts. It didn't work last year. Bartles was the starter last year and too many of you forget he lost the job cuz he wasn't playing well. Joe then lost the job cuz he wasn't playing well. Joe earned the job this fall cuz he was playing well in the spring game and in pre-season. I know a couple of you think practice doesn't matter but it does. Mollberg has survived a rocky start with receivers who were dropping the ball and running poor routes, and an Oline that has struggled. He has also made his own mistakes. What I believe is the mistake too many of you are making is you forget this is a team game and although the QB's are maybe the most important position on the offensive side of the ball but only one position. Joe is starting to look like the QB the coaches and many of us believe he is capable of. Bubba and his staff see the same thing. Bigger upside but still work in progress. If Bartles becomes the QB you can't throw him under the bus either as he adjusts and matures. I don't think we aren't seeing what you see, we just have a different opinion and dont' get pissed if the coaching staff seems to agree with our opinion.
  23. Mollberg is fine. Was ok after game. Hit early when sacked then started getting goofy. McGill looked like knee other kid looked hurt.
  24. Mollberg will be QB next game. He has played well last couple of games and there was nothing exceptional from Bartles that would lead one to believe he will do better. He did a good job. Interesting that some of the experts don't point out the missed guy in end zone that could have been TD or missed open receivers or the possible pick 6 Portland could have had on the out pattern Young dove for and caught. These are always brought up when Mollberg makes same mistake. That stuff happens and is part of the game for both of these guys. What too many seem to miss is that there were no dropped balls yesterday and at least four diving catches. The same guys who wanted to toss Garmin under the bus should have seen the potential he has if you give him some seems to run in. Oline is maybe the most important factor for either of these guys. They both are a lot better when receivers catch the ball. Receivers did great job yesterday. Bottom line is that Mollberg has played well the last two games and other than the pick 6 did decent job against Montana State. Bartels came in and played well yesterday. The problems on offense aren't necessarily the QB. Don't see coaches pulling Mollberg now after he has been playing well. They won't pull him until they know he won't be their QB then he will likely be done.
