  1. Enough to have earned the respect of his peers, college hockey personnel, NHL executives and I believe his players.
  2. Which means nothing to Sandy. He has proven himself.
  3. Mama Sue I believe this is your assignment. 😁
  4. Former teammate Ron ( Magic) Gustafson passed away this afternoon. He was an All-American wide receiver from 1971-1974. Signed by the Saints then the Rams. Also ran track his freshman year. He was one of the finest WR to play for the Sioux. May he rest in peace. God speed.

I understood that the court ruling was that athletes can’t be prohibited from financial arrangements/contracts that allow them to benefit from their NIL. Attorneys feel free to comment /correct me, but if the schools NIL initiatives are owned and operated by private individuals, I can’t see how Title IX comes into play. With any FBS schools allowing up to $20.5 million and overseeing distribution, I can see how Title IX comes into play. For schools whose NIL funds are raised and distributed by outside of the University hierarchy would Title IX still apply? If I decide on my own to pay a player $50,000 to wear “Bared shoes”, for instance, and appear in company advertisements, I can’t see how UND, the NCAA, or the feds under Title IX have legal authority to prevent that. I realize that schools want any and all NIL contracts to be coordinated with the school, but I didn’t think that was part of the courts decision.
  6. Did UND not recruit these guys or just lose the recruiting battle?
  7. Bart Starr and the Packers won that game though.
  8. You normally want a guy who has been through the experience of adjusting to the college game and the college experience. He can relate to the younger players cuz he has experienced what they are going through. He has had time to gain the respect of the coaches and his teammates. Players still get to vote on captains don’t they? I know coaches can veto/add alternates etc. This isn’t per wees or bantams where the best player or coaches kid is often the captain Having been drafted or not isn’t something that teammates tend to see as something to affect relationships with their fellow teammates cuz neither they nor the coaches make those decisions The weekend penalty issue, which is inexcusable, is something the coaches handle with him behind closed doors.
  9. I think they throw to their TE’s though.
  10. I would be surprised if none of them reached out to him. I’m not surprised we didn’t hear about it if they did reach out. I hope he has a good year.
  11. He might start for 2 of them. Same with Feeney. I haven’t paid attention to who they have coming back so I can’t say either of them “would”.
  12. Basically, I agree. Every off season, every spring ball and every fall pre-season is the time, to move up the depth chart and no one’s job is every guaranteed. However, players can’t play being afraid a mistake on one play will cost them their job. All players make mistakes and those who are afraid to make a mistake are not going to be as effective. If they making mistakes and can’t learn, then “next guy up”.
  13. I’m not sure I would agree. If that were true, how did Romfo bypass Feeney or for that matter, Feeney and Kaminski? How did we have 2 guys competing for the starting center position? How many tight ends were in the mix this year? How did a true freshman move up to a backup on the oline? I don’t believe guys were guaranteed their positions. Coaches want to win and play the players they think will give them the best chance of winning. UND’s struggles were more related to talent level and possibly schemes etc. than inability of players to progress up the depth chart.
  14. Many were advertised that way. Our Champions Club donations aren’t even tax deductible.
  15. You are correct.

I agree but Ohio State arguably played their best FB of the year in the 1st half. Oregon would have had to play their best to stay in the game. They didn’t. It happens at all levels sometimes. They still had a great year.

Obviously they did. It was disappointing not to win it all but they achieved all of their other goals. They got beat by another very good team.
  18. I believe he was expected to go to WSU but not sure about the OC/Co OC role. Not sure if other Co OC is going to WSU.
  19. Seattle Times says Danny Freund has been hired as WSU OC
  20. One way to initiate discussion is to have his former RR teammates try to convince him to switch. I don’t believe other schools are allowed to recruit players once signed to a school but there are ways to communicate indirectly. The kid lives in GF so it wouldn’t be difficult for him to know of UND’s interest.
  21. He was hurt this year
  22. It does, doesn’t it.
  23. Road on the plane today from San Diego and chatted with a former player (and his family) who transferred to FBS school. Main issue was UND didn’t utilize TE’s in passing game. Hopefully Schmidt and Freuchte and smart enough to know how important that is.
