  1. We have one 5 minutes from our house and never go there. We do have a couple of places in Pensacola we love. One is the Fish House, which I'm sure would be a difficult proposition, since Grand Forks isn't really near a lot of fresh seafood and the other is the Angus Steakhouse. Not chains, but great food and service.
  2. LLOYD OMDAHL: Higher-ed board must fight unconstitutional law
  3. Kicking the can well into the 21st Century
  4. Boy, did it get loud in there after that.
  5. I don't know how the Big Sky is going to handle scheduling or travel partners, but is it likely they will be paired with UNC? Which means a school like EWU or Montana would fly to Denver play UNC in Greeley and then fly to ND, back through Denver and home? How much different is that than flying from Missoula to Denver to Fargo, busing to Brookings back to Fargo to Denver to Missoula? Isn't this essentially what you would have with NDSU and SDSU as travel partners?
  6. If the statement was made, would he have made the same statement about NDSU? I doubt it. The Big Sky is the conference that SDSU and NDSU preferred back in the day, now it is a bad idea, because UND is joining. I'll admit, I think UND is lucky the invitation came, but when opportunity knocks, answer the door. Vindy, you are right about the women's sports. They may feel the impact more than the men, if UND is returned back to the list.
  7. But the Sioux did clobber East Stroudsburg 38-7.
  8. I happen to have the year-by-year results in my office. In 1985 UND lost 49-0 to NDSU, putting the Sioux at 3-8 for the year. Thomas started in 1986. Fortunately I moved from ND in June of '85 and didn't see that debacle.
  9. That was when I was in college. I was one of the one yelling "Fire Behrns" from the sparse student section and yes I was likely intoxicated while doing it. He had done a nice job at Omaha. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back and help the Sioux in some capacity.
  10. More news from Jan Brady State University .... Our View: SCSU, Kurtz should part ways sooner
  11. I once had the same mindset, until I saw this a few years ago. He is part of the UND's past and evidently still thought of quite highly.
  12. In today's Live Chat the question was asked about if Omaha had kept football, UND may have been sought for MVFC. Wayne said "Hadn't heard that. UND is headed to the Big Sky. No changes."
  13. Look on front page of Siouxsports.com for tweets.
  14. I keep reading on other boards (goyotes and championship subdivision to name a couple) that UND may still end up in the Summit and that that ship has not yet sailed. This is on the heels of UNO accepting the Summit invitation. The comments are coming from fans of other schools. I continue to think that UND is better off not being part of NCC 2.0 and that setting UND apart from the other NCC schools is a good thing. The Big Sky Conference is a destination conference. When schools do leave, it is to go to and FBS conference. See Idaho, Nevada and Boise State. The Summit is still a temporary conference. There isn't a fan of any of the other Dakota schools who wouldn't jump at the chance of joining the Missouri Valley Conference and kick the Summit to the curb. Is there still wishful thinking out there that UND join the Summit?
  15. I'm already looking forward to next season. When Schuler was recruited I had high expectations from him and noted earlier in the season that I was hoping for more from him. I think this group of freshman are going to take the Sioux far, if they can stay healthy. Big Sky here we come.
  16. I see there a couple of letters to the editor today... UND logo vote will have fallout Sounds to me like your colleagues have open minds willing to discuss issues. By the way UND does not have a mascot. Is your opinion the same of the Fighting Irish, who do have a mascot and also have a logo with a fighting leprechaun? It looks like repeat of history First the NCAA was NOT representing the Sioux Indians. If they had been, maybe they should have gone to Spirit Lake and asked them how they felt. Second, as stated in another thread, there is a 1969 agreement with Standing Rock for the use of the name. Who is reneging on that??
  17. Valiant effort by the Sioux. Made a couple of runs at AFA in the second half, just couldn't close it out. 10 point loss to a team around 110 in the RPI isn't bad. I like how the future looks with these young men. GO SIOUX!!!
  18. Down 10 with 5 and 1/2 to go.
  19. Sioux down 6 with 11 min. left
