  1. While your time zone point is a valid one, I don't think the Twin Cities/Mid-Con connection is as strong an argument. Other than NDSU and SDSU the Mid-Con is in Shreveport, Kansas City, Rochester Hills MI, Tulsa, Cedar City UT, Macomb IL, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne IN. None of these cities are particularly close to MSP. I would think that UND would be attempting to schedule both SDSU and NDSU on an annual basis regardless of which conference the Sioux end up in. With the Big Sky, you would have UM and MSU next door. UNC is close to Denver, Flagstaff is about a 2 hour drive from Phoenix and all of the grads in the Seattle and Portland areas. Back to the time zone issue. With the internet, I think people rely far less on the nightly newscast and the morning paper. If and when all of the games are streamed, you will have less of a time zone issue.
  2. As discussed previously and pictorally with Wyobison's NDSU's alumni map, UND and NDSU have big pockets of fan support in AZ and CO, not to mention the Pacific NW. Plus one home for the "money" sports would be great. I think Swimming and Diving could become part of the Mid-Con or Horizon as an associate member. The big problem with the Big Sky insofar as a conference home for sports would be baseball and softball.
  3. Don't mess with the New Orleans Saints colors.
  4. If it is true that he would then bring it up on membership vote, then he must feel that he has the vote to do it. Why else would he say "It's done."? I have absolutely no legal experience, so I'll have to rely on those who do to explain Brand's comments. Additionally, aren't these kind of comments fodder for the lawsuit?
  5. I simply cannot get past this one. Is he answerable to no one?
  6. Brand: NCAA stands by nickname ban Someone said it earlier today. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I also see in the article where the USA Today had us hosting a I-AA playoff game.
  7. Congratulations to the Gators. Sorry Dave K.
  8. Don't forget to set up your lucrative severance package, so you have a golden parachute should things go south down south.

  10. Thanks for analysis Dagies. I'm looking forward to a great 2nd half of the season. All of the pieces are there. Execute and win. Go Sioux !!!
  11. AD Harper addresses coaching, fights and letters Once again, I must ask, how is UND doing anything that is hurtful to a race?? Thank goodness Josie isn't in charge of anything else. In her world, if anyone was going to be offended, nothing could move forward. Someone is always is going to be on the short end of the stick. Someone is always is going to be offended in some way, real or otherwise.
  12. Brand wants more black More social engineering from Brand.
  13. I still say the men are heading in the right direction and will make some noise in the NCC this year. Go Sioux!
  14. Way to go Sioux!!!
  15. NO! The Sioux must languish in pergatory! This is the mantra that you must learn from the NDSU fans.

  20. While agree that it looks promising for both SDSU and NDSU in the Gateway, I don't think fear is driving speculation. Think back a few years and recall what Bisonville was like when NDSU had announced the move to Division I. I'm sure that there were all kinds of rumors flying around about conferences, especially about the Big Sky. That wasn't fear driven. It was hope and dreams and yes, probably some people just making stuff up to sound good. Good luck to the SU's at the Gateway meeting. UND is just starting the process and the landscape will change several more times in the next couple of years, so I don't believe fear is warranted.
  21. I saw on the Herald's website a link to a 'DAZ story regarding proposals being reviewed for a hotel adjacent to the Ralph. A Hotel North of the Ralph?
  22. My money is on 89Rabbit beating him to the punch.
  23. Anti-mascot movement made headway in 2006 Since I didn't recall the policy encouraging other member institutions to refreain from scheduling regular-season games, I had to go back to the original edict. NCAA Executive Committee Issues Guidelines for Use of Native American Mascots at Championship Events Even the title of their own press release is misleading, using the word "Guidelines" instead of "Mandate". Anyone who is on the fence about this issue, needs to reread this press release. It makes my blood boil and makes me want to fight to the end. Race, ethnicity or national origin. I know this has been discussed many times, but where is the NCAA going next with all of this? Congressman Johnson is dead on when he says...
  24. Great pickup for the Sioux.
  25. This may have been posted elsewhere and I missed it. Calling all conferences, UVSC looks to the future Interesting .. I hope that he wasn't quoting Jacobson on this one.
