  1. If UND had a mascot, it probably would be a Sioux warrior such as they have at Illinois and Florida State. See PCM's post. But, UND does not have a mascot. Why is this so hard to understand?
  2. Let's put your theory to the test with a few NFL teams. Do the New York Jets have a 747 on the sidelines at their football games? Do the New Orleans Saints have someone dressed as a saint on the sidelines? Remember the Chicago Fire from the WFL? Was there a bonfire somwhere on display during home games? Sure sometime teams do have a mascot to go along with their team name, but "Logo + Nickname = mascot" does not hold water.
  3. Accounting Stu is bad at math. Where on earth did you come up with your formula that Logo + Nickname = mascot?
  4. I would suspect that the folks at Phoenix Design Works are going to make a heck of lot more than the $6,000 original price. As a contractor, I know how expensive things can get with a lack of clarity in the concept and the subsequent failure in the approval of the design due to the lack of clarity.
  5. The one that got away... Rose signs with UW after Badger wooing Sounds like a bright kid with a bright future. Too bad he isn't going to be a Sioux.
  6. Arena news breeds much skepticism The plot thickens...
  7. Next week.
  8. Athletic community rehashes controversial U policy Other than one person saying that they hoped UND wouldn't be hurt by UMTC, it seemed all of the people supporting the policy were quoted. Not very even reporting.
  9. This argument reminds me of one of my favorite Far Side cartoons. What the dog hears when you are scolding her.... blah blah blah ginger blah blah blah blah ginger blah blah.
  10. I think that Coach Jones has a done a good job to date and do think that things will improve with the Men's team. With that said the transition will be tough and Sioux fans need to be prepared for that. NDSU has shown some success, but if you look at the latest RPI, two other former NCC teams are not faring so well. Of the 336 teams, Northern Colorado is #336 and SDSU is #326. The fans may need to have some patience.
  11. February is nearing the halfway point. Any word on the Master Plan report?
  12. Hockey's Toews pleads not guilty in Grand Forks
  13. Would this new privately owned facility compete with the Fargodome and proposed new arena addition for events (revenue) when it is not being used for hockey? From the City of Fargo view of the expansion, they are hoping to capture more of the small events that are not going to the Fargodome. If there is another player in town for those events, their cut of the pie may get smaller.
  14. A program that is in it's 4th year is needed for NDSU to survive? I guess they've been on the brink of closing down the school for quite some time then.
  15. Yes, but. From what I recall from my school days about a hundred years ago, American Indians were much more susceptible to diseases such as small pox, due to a lower tolerance immune system. Small pox was not prevalent prior to colonization.
  16. Yes, but where did they get the small pox?
  17. It is McFeely's job to stir the pot. He does a good job of that. Just ask the folks at Bisonville.
  18. McFeely's take on the Judy's incident. [url=http://www.in-forum.com/Sports/articles/155881]Hakstol
  19. I don't mind paying an annual fee to get my Sioux sports fix. Hockey has been nice, but it will be that much better to watch MBB, WBB and FB as well.
  20. Great News!!!
  21. Hanson heading to UND An answer to some who have questioned....
  22. Rodriguez Jr. formally sentenced to death for killing Sjodin
  23. Typical. I provide all that description and they change the webcam view to point out at the open water and make everyone cold.
  24. A little something to warm the folks up north. Penascola Beach Webcam The view, at least for this morning webcam position, shows in the foreground, the bridge from Gulf Breeze onto Pensacola Beach. The intercoastal waterway is nice and calm. The bridge in the background goes from Gulf Breeze to Pensacola. The Gulf Power building is shown in the background. Keep warm.
  25. I have no idea why I'm responding to a post regarding NDSU recruits, but I just had to interject on the "preferred walk-on" issue. I found this as the first Google hit. More local football players opting to be preferred walk-ons The article is in reference to BCS programs, but I'm sure it is the same for FCS teams.
