I remember back when smaby was a sophomore and kind of struggled at the end of the year and everyone ate him alive when a puck was redirected into our own net by him. The next year he is our team captain. Big Dmen take awhile to develop but finley leads the team in plus/minus what more can he do than be a +20. I will predict that next year not only will he be a force and step up his game but also be a leader of this team

he wanted to have surgery when it happened, but hak wouldn't let him because he wanted him available. He will have surgery this offseason to fix it though.

Just got back from the shattuck game and left quite impressed, even though toews wasn't dressed. The three players wisconsin got are studs although, i wasn't quite as impressed with murray as much as i was for #9 and 12. Novoltny was quite impressive as well, and of course I was very impressed with blood. He was quick, mobile, and had a decent shot. They lost 2-1 but i still left impressed. On a side note the ref of the game was graig hansen, yes the same one that used to ref in the WCHA, he was just as terrible as usual lol

I give him props, how good was bottineau last year compared to this year? The difference that kid made was amazing, and to put up numbers like that for Bottineau and have them within one win of going to state is even more amazing, I give him props. He also broke the schools goal scoring record this year, what more could the kid do.

on a side note, i'm goin to the bobcats and shattuck hockey game tommorow, who else should i be payin attention to besides blood? Haven't been keepin up with the recruits as much as i should have this year.

Yeah the class argument and the pigeon holing that was insinuated in his post is a very dated viewpoint, and has no affect on the quality of hockey within grand forks.

Although it is true some people over buy, this is one of the most closed minded comments i've heard. You must remember that there is a lot of inheritance money in the red river valley from the rich farmland which a lot of familys had passed down to them. The university pays most professors quite well, and many of them are also entepreneurs in town. Engineering jobs for the city are payin close to 60k a year, and there are plenty of upper end management jobs where these workers are in their late 40's and early 50's which pay quite well, its the good paying entry level jobs that the city is missing. Also a lender will not lend to a person with to much debt very easily. There is a thing called a credit score that effects it. An example, it is good on your credit score if you only have 40% credit card debt. This means that if you have four credit cards with a total limit of $10,000 you want to keep the debt below 4,000. having more than this drops your rate, so if credit cards are maxed out, and a person owns a house they can't make payments on, they could still afford a navigator by making minimum payments. Also to an extent spending on credit is a good thing for our economy as it keeps money in the system, but yes it is unhealthy to overspend as is what is going on. Provide proof that this is what most people are doing in grand forks and I will believe you, but i have a strong suspicion that inheritance and entrepreneurship plays a big role in it.

There is big difference in the way this team is playing this year as compared to last year. If you look at the first two conference games, I believe they lost by a total of 3 points combined. Scoring 90+ points in both games, so offensively this team is fine, right now its there defense that is struggling. This team may not appear to have a chance this year, but they have a great junior class with the junior college players brought in this year, so next year I have a feelling that it could be a special year.

Yeah i'm not sure of the numbers either, but I believe UND was really struggling from 3-point land, but Kimbrough and Langen came up big inside the paint tonight. Very hard faught and deserving win.
