I agree with Brad's "biases" if that's the correct way to frame them in that the viability of some sports programs to some respect depended on the deletion of three. I agree...and if the ONLY cuts coming to our state were college sports, your point is well taken, but all educational institutions will have some cuts as well as counties and frankly all departments. I'm not saying government doesn't get bloated and does not need cuts, but it just seems odd to be in this situation in ND with that much money in reserves and... Oil is already coming back and when it does we will be flush again.

"How dare they cut a sport I never supported" seems to be the real story today. It's pure math as Sicatoka rightly points out. However, the state of ND has not 1 but 2 reserve funds with each holding about 4 billion dollars. But those are for a "rainy day." Apparently it's not raining hard enough yet.

Lots of time, I felt he was the best LB on the team last year. Solid guy on every play. As an LB I suspect it was not the cheap shot or at least not JUST the cheap shot but a lot belts to the head.

What's the ratio of Frosh who left and ended up with non-descript pro careers v the Frosh who left and went on to sustained success?

The starting QB is an average college Qb who has the respect of the coaches and his teammates trust. He is not a game changer and in the last seconds of a big one I don't see him making the difference. Will that be enough in the playoffs? We'll see...at least I hope we'll see.

As far as seat changes go, we looked at the seat chart, and it appears there are NOT many seats available as of now. But I can't believe it's due to all the seats being held by season ticket holders, so could it be there's been a great uptick in new season ticket holders? Or did I just misread the chart?

We had season tix last year. Don't we get first crack at them this year? If so, when does that option come up?

He's huge, but I'd worry about a speedy LB on the edge rushing the QB. The footwork NEEDS work. Plus, whenever he had a chance, he dove on the guy he pancaked. I've seen refs call that holding.

In light of the SU ability to grab lots of MN players, it seems it hurts them the most. UND has made forays into the Cities but for the last 5-6 years, SU has done the better job of nabbing the guys we can expect Fleck to get.

Totally understand, but it was the first game of the year, with a different QB than the guy who was undefeated since taking over. I just think, even if you disregard USC, that an 8 team playoff is better and would allow for a "hot" team to make a move during the playoffs. No one has EVER argued that BCS playoffs should be reduced. They play the same game with college students and it's a great thing for all those schools.
