I thought Minot may be hurting a bit in the goaltending department after Keller ended up in Sioux Falls. They've played three kids thus far that have all done pretty well in the net, and their d core has been solid as well. Based on both their boys and girls teams getting brand new uniforms with both high school's colors I'm thinking they will be a combined team for the foreseeable future. They'll be a tough matchup in the first round of the state tournament as the likely #1 from the west.

Blame me. I went with my Canadian bloodline and put allegiance to Canada after what team USA did.

Welp, @MafiaMan got his nonconference shootout to decide Sweden-Finland. He was the one in the corner pounding on the glass after the 3 on 3 was as intriguing as my daughter's dance competitions. Some guys just live for that stuff.

Love their head coach, classy man who has been in the game longer than I've been alive. A season like this and you've got to take the small victories and build. I would hang a positive on their shot blocking the whole weekend. Those guys weren't afraid to put their bodies in front of some bombs.

Love the intensity, but let's run through the last 6 minutes here and move on. Not worth a DQ and a suit on Friday.

Team is in complete control here. For the weekend they've given up 18 shots in five and a half periods. Keep rolling lines, get another one, and get these games behind them with the league schedule on the horizon.

Thankfully Mooney is only 18 and can just not come off the ice next year. In fact let's set the bar with 5'5 forwards who are 150 pounds dripping wet next year.

Its good they got bounced. Tragically mismanaged operation. The love affair with playing Mooney a stupid amount of minutes did them in. I guess I may be cheering for Canada now eh?

To Dane's credit Zellers is getting the same amount of minutes in this game as St. Paul.

Emery and Zellers should have plenty of energy based on their minutes this tournament.

Toss up game Friday. They should win, but won't be surprised in the least bit if they lose to Finland. Goaltending....meh....D zone structure is abysmal, and the forward groupings make zero sense to me. Zellers getting a regular shift and he's probably in the running for a top player award for team USA as hes +6 at the moment on a team that gives up goals like I give away shots on the golf course.

They are over playing Kleber to a fault. There are no byes into the quarters. You've got to roll your d men until it gets to those playoff games, then shorten the bench where necessary. They are playing too many games to have a kid at 24 minutes on day two. We all wear green glasses, but what is happening with Emery is a joke. 11 shifts yesterday against the Swiss? They aren't the little sisters of the poor, but you are setting yourself up for failure there over the short grind. Wish that game had went to OT like Canada's game to prove a point. Mooney just isn't physically mature enough yet. I can't believe the late game minutes he got yesterday.

Looking at the TOI and the total shifts is baffling. They won the game, but its extremely easy to see why they only beat a team like Switzerland 2-1, and were a crossbar away from OT. I mean we need Kleber for 24 plus minutes against the Swiss? He going to play 35 against Sweden?

Meh is being generous. Made the Czechs look like the 76 Red Army team at times.

I love Dan Campbell, but the man crapped the bed in the NFC Championship game. And then in his post game press conference talked openly how its pretty impossible to get back to that point the next season....

Well in typical Vikings form, in a game that can ensure they finish 4th in the division and a weaker schedule, Max Brosmer throws for 51 yards (-48 yards in sacks) and the defense is lights out in the teams 4th win in a row. Next week will be interesting as the Packers may have a chance to win the division over the bears. If they don't, you'll see the Green Bay B squad I'd assume as they are in regardless. It would be a very Minnesota thing to win their last 5 games of the year after getting eliminated.

Right. You hope John Vanbiesbrook was very actively involved in all of those difficult conversations when sending a kid home. Gopher hatred aside, it shouldn't cost Bob a kid like that.

Spoke with a member of the USA hockey brass this week and of Monday they were very underwhelmed by ticket sales they saw. Need @MafiaMan to recruit more Ferris State fans to fill up the rink.
