  1. Players are allowed to practice during their suspension. DL could've had home ice with him in their lineup. Now they'll have to beat Mayport and then a trip to Eagles Arena and the bleach supply in GF will be in short supply.
  2. I was wrong, Grafton was home against Devils Lake and got a big win. Spoilers will host the Packers, and Devils Lake gets Mayport for EDC play in. Central continues to roll, Shanley moves up the standings, North hung in there against Red River, but loses 3-2.
  3. Big games in the EDC tonight. If West Fargo High isn't able to beat Shanley in regulation this evening that would in all likelihood put them on the road for the play-in game in Grafton, as I don't see them beating GFC. Shanley has a good opportunity to end up in 6th as Devils Lake has a one point lead on them and only one game to go with GPR, a likely win. Two wins for Shanley with North, RR, and WFHS on the schedule would put them ahead of Devils Lake, and if North loses out they could end up as high as 5th. GFC at Sheyenne which I'll pick Central to win as they have secured EDC title #........its a lot. Sheyenne has one left with GPR, so I see them finishing at 30 points, and the 3 or 4 seed heading into the EDC tournament. I think they have all but secured home ice as Davies, North, Shanley still have some games with each other, but Davies holds the tiebreaker on them if they both finish at 30 points which would happen if Davies beats North and Grafton. Red River at North. Red River has locked up the #2 as they hold the head to head with Sheyenne. After tonight, they just have Shanley left. North could finish as high as 3rd, but they'd have to beat RR, Davies, and Shanley. They could finish as low as 6th, but no lower as they hold the tiebreaker with Devils Lake. Grafton at Devils Lake. Grafton likely finishes in the 8-9 range as they have three tough opponents left. Probably not going to beat DL in DL, and then Davies and Sheyenne to wrap up the season. They could play a bit of....wait for it...."Spoilers" to some other teams looking for home ice and seeding. Devils Lake finishes with 19 points in the EDC after tonight if they win, then they could use some help from anyone playing Shanley. One week from tonight we will have the verdict on how all of this will play out.
  4. I like this idea. However I know the Wahp coach (played for me years ago...sigh...old age) and they are in the process of putting two ice sheets in Breck. I'd assume then that the BW Blades will forever be a Minnesota team as they just don't belong in the EDC. I think that North Star idea is fantastic. If you've got to head east you make it a two game swing for H/B heading to MP and and GPR, and the same for the western schools. When Horace adds their team in the near future you're going to have a plum full EDC. If it was basketball the NDHSAA would be all over this and have the oversight to have a proactive solution in place. I'll end with a quote from an old EDC coach, said directly to the NDHSAA people at a coaches meeting I was at. "All you people care about is your basketball and your Class B state tournament. This is a waste of everyone's time as nothing ever gets done."
  5. I get that we are also in the same lower division, so gotta be careful with shots at the FCS.....but I mean.....seriously guys..... Miami's defense vs. the best 11 defensive players in all of FCS football.....still not a talking point.
  6. I was at Shanley-Sheyenne and was really impressed with Shanley's structure. Played just about a perfect game. One bad turnover in the 3rd period cost them a goal, but other than that they were excellent all over the place. After Central and Red River I'd say its anyone's spots at state. I'd still bet on Davies, but I think there are 5 teams that have an excellent opportunity to be at state.
  7. From what I'm told it is what they want to do going forward. There was the initial phase of just taking the 10th seed and playing an independent schedule, and now they are taking the next step to full membership in hockey.
  8. Potential future conferences. EDC: GFC, RR, WFS, Davies, North, DL, Shanley, GPR, WFHS, Mayport, Horace, Jamestown (rumors they are looking into EDC). WDA: Williston, Dickinson, Watford, H/B, Bottineau/Rugby, Minot, Mandan, BHS, Legacy, CHS, with potential for Minot North which would make 11. Minot AD is moving to Watford to take AD role there. My source in the system said his life has been hectic since Minot North.
  9. And its official that all east teams will be required to play at least one with Mayport next season. Next question, will they be the Hazen of the EDC.
  10. Sandy's Dogs got one more point than UND did this past weekend. UND getting swept by the bye week, and Duluth losing Friday while getting an OT point while not scoring any goals on Saturday in Denver. Adam Gajan heads to Italy to be an Olympian while the Shaugabay, Plante, Plante line is no more according to reports. I'd assume any time there is a power play they'll find a way to put them all on PP1. We need to take advantage of their goaltending a man down this weekend. Coach Sandy probably a bit more collapse mentality defensively without his top guy, but they still can be stingy defensively as we saw Saturday at Magness. I think they surprise us one night and the teams trade points this weekend. I'll say 4-3 Dogs, then 5-1 UND. Denver and CC clash this weekend, so we are going to need @Godsmacks Springs city kitties to take a couple from the pios as well.
  11. I think they have 24 total kids, so any underclassmen is probably expected to give a period or two of JV service. They played in the Winter Classic in WF a few years back and their JV was 85 percent their varsity with a lot of kids playing 5 periods to make both games happen.
  12. Always the goalies....always.... If we score 10 a game from here on out we are fine...
  13. UND jumps to 3rd in the rankings with Western taking a bad home loss to Stu and company. Really need to take advantage of the dogs not having Gajan next weekend.
  14. First thing I said to the individual that relayed this to me (a higher up in the ND activities world) was, "There are going to be a few really pissed off teams about this." Two for sure in the Grand Forks Metro....
  15. Would you say that period was on the softer side for the Devils?
  16. Need ya here Simon....
  17. In a conversation today I learned that all teams in the EDC will be required to schedule Mayport at least once next season for points towards the EDC standings. I know there is already a confirmed date with Sheyenne, others I guess will be required to follow.
  18. Jays and WF Packers play tonight in Jamestown. You heading there coach?
  19. Sheyenne and D Lake just had a war up in DL. 2-1 Sheyenne wins while getting outshot something fierce. Sheyenne with back to back 2-1 wins where their goaltender was outstanding. Looks like they may end up as the 3 seed in the EDC.
  20. I'll take Red river, Bagley, North, Davies, Central, Minot.
  21. Nothing is finalized as far as them getting assured EDC games next season. I do know that Sheyenne has agreed to play them next season, and I'd assume the relationships with GPR and Devils Lake stay the same as its not a terrible bus trip to either from the Mayville area and being a smaller school and getting non conference games is a bit of a nightmare in some scenarios. I'm sure they'd love to consistently get a RR, or a GFC on the schedule, but that will only happen with full membership into the EDC, and I'd assume there will be major pushback from those schools as they don't want to lose a Warroad or Bemidji and I guess in Central's case a Moorhead off their non conference schedule.
  22. Mayport just takes the 10th seed into the EDC tournament and plays a full independent schedule. With the limited number of "non conference" games available, not a lot of teams will put them on the schedule in the EDC as they'd rather play Minnesota teams or "better competition" non conference. There are talks going on currently to allow Mayport to play one EDC game against each team next season. Believe the only current EDC teams that have played them are Grafton, and it looks like they have a game against Devils Lake before EDC.
  23. I think it makes the most sense. Furthest bus trip is Grafton conference wise and you can play your non conference with Bismarck schools.
  24. Big win for Jamestown. Hearing rumors that they are floating the possibility of moving back to the EDC. Would save on travel costs immensely.
  25. Its going to take me a while to get used to the WHL commits. I thought Jundt would have more success in Calgary. Got some more time to grow as he's only an 08 I guess.
