All this team needs is five or six from their starters. And on nights like tonight where they blow it open a Stashak/Smeltzer/Thorpe can close it out setting them up perfectly for the next day.
Now Berrios doesn't have to be a world beater tomorrow. Go out, get through 5 or 6, and ride the line to Rodgers while the offense does their thing.
Or he could be the ace and throw CG, but not likely the way he's been going.
Good luck to both kids this year. I had an inkling young Mr. Panzer wouldn't be playing ND high school hockey after his dad tweeted some things after Central rolled WF Sheyenne last year.
Boy will it be weird to see a Panzer playing against GFC.....
Sounds like Buxton won't be back at all, so its Cave from here on out. He has started to pick things up with the bat, but his defense is what it is at times.
Graterol gave up a few runs last night, but that's a good thing. Young fireballers need reality checks from time to time. From what I've read he hung a breaking ball and gave up a three run dinger.
Hildenberger with two scoreless innings. Rochester's season ends soon, maybe he does end up with the big club when all is said and done.
The game isn't over, but this is the formula for Twins post season success if there is a postseason.
Starter goes 5, offense scratches a few off good pitcher.....then Dyson, May, Duffy, Romo, Rodgers, in any particular order.
I'm not sure if that Cleveland loss was a big emotional downer for them because of how they fought back, only to lose, or if it's a rally cry type game that they can build on.
Hopefully the former.....
Garver just needs to be in the lineup. Castro just doesn't have the approach at the plate and isn't good enough of a receiver to make up for his lack of hitting.
2-0 so far today. 9 more outs and Cleveland loses.
I don't understand why they don't let the players come up with something for their teams. This is an epic fail by MLB.
At least Rocco went to the bullpen before the starter lost the game tonight.
It's the end of the road for Harper. Lasted longer than Morin, Parker, Magill, Hildenberger, but it's time to put the old dog down.
Bring up Littell, and put Alcala or Graterol on notice that the time is coming.
I've got no answer for Berrios.....absolutely lost on the mound now.
If it was my pick I'd sign Big Mike, and Ode after Berrios gets his pay day.
The club has a 500,000 buyout on Perez's last year. It's that or pay him 7.5 million, which goes up to 8.5 if he pitches 170 plus innings.
I'd like to see the club decide on Thorpe or Smelter as a starter and make one into a lefty specialist reliever.
Trevor Hildenberger also got back on the mound down in Rochester throwing a scoreless inning and recording a save, but I wouldn't bet on seeing him again in Minnesota this season.
Graterol with two scoreless innings tonight in his debut for Rochester. Touched 100 mph a couple times but the gun in Rochester rounds up I'm told. Threw his slider 91.
Alcala touched 97 yesterday, and it sounds like he will be the one they bring up before Graterol.
Giolitto goes tomorrow so they'll have their work cut out for them. Big spot for Ode to get a series win before a day off and then Detroit for the weekend.
