  1. Midcosportsnet schedule, not that it means anything for most of us, will be released next Monday, the 19th.
  2. I'd think not, but you can select a section now and accept or turn down the seat. There are still no lower bowl blue line to blue line seats available on axs, only corners, and the first rows of the upper level center ice are slowly disappearing. I'm in the second row (upper level, hoping it compares to club level at the X), I think the best there are now several rows higher. But then there is the post where someone called the target box office and they were informed that there were lower bowl sides available, but were being held until later. Waiting or making the call may be worthwhile now.
  3. Used to go in there with the same friend after Frenchy's closed, for 2AM fried spam sandwiches. Wonder if that qualifies me for a parking spot
  4. Where to start? Was introduced to Sioux hockey in the old barn in the early 70s, and my first intro to the new arena was moving in broadcast equipment with a student broadcaster (Wilbur's dad knows him, they were in the same frat). After the old barn seemed like a novel idea to actually be warm at a hockey game. Those early days resulted in mostly losses for the Sioux, so we generally entertained ourselves by sitting on the glass at a blue line and giving Medo and Dewey a boatload of crap. Dewey was more fun, you could get a reaction out of him and he'd slam the glass often. From the old barn, I remember a Gopher game, when Sioux goaltender Murphy was waiting for a slow moving puck coming at him from a length of the ice clear. It was on net, but moving so slowly that Murphy nonchalanted it, and meaning to sweep it away with his stick mis-timed the sweep, missed the puck, and it slid slowly across the goal line, not reaching the back of the net. So we knew it as a Murphy long before it became a Frazee. Since we knew all the players from the dorm (Walsh hall), we were at all the games in spite of the losses. We looked forward to the CC series since they were not good either and we thought there was a better chance for wins. A youngster from Minnesota named Doug Pallazari (sp?) spoiled that, however. I was then gone from ND for several years, and returned to northern SD just as Gino was hired, and the Sioux became a force nationally.Traveled up to GF for many of those games in the early 80s, and since a friend from the early 70s, after several undergraduate degrees, had entered med school, so, he always had a student ID for me to go to the games (I was always Dr. "somebody", usually Fasbender, who must not have been a hockey fan). When I didn't make it to GF, always drove up to Oakes, where the owner of the cabin (Kutsikas) was also an alum and watched the games on PPTV with me. We even watched at the home of some Bison graduates (former Rajahs?), but we had to watch the Bison football playoff games as well. Don't remember any single game, just that they won almost all the time (the Sioux, although I hear the Bison football team then won most of the time as well). I'm still miffed at the Sioux not being selected for the 83 NCAA playoffs, as imo they and Wisco were the best teams in the country, and I looked forward to another Sioux/Badger NCAA championship game, with the FF in the old ralph. Of course, the Sioux weren't selected, and the Badgers had a cakewalk to the championship (didn't seem right to have Frenchy's overrun by Badger jerseys), while the Gophers sleepwalked through losses to Harvard and Providence, and lived up to their Gopher choker nickname. Repeated again at the new ralph in the Holy Cross regional. The younger brother of the trench coat engineering student was a good friend of mine, so when I moved to this part of the state, I visited their farm near Alamo, ND. A few of the leftover friends usually make it to meet at one series/year now, including the dr. from montana, had been Thanksgiving weekend until that ended last year (went to the Duluth series the weekend before Thanksgiving). At any rate we usually get into the dr. suite for some of at least one game, and get to visit with the Sioux football dr, as well as the Sioux hockey dr. I'll miss seeing the old ralph when driving in GF next season, just as I'm always lost on Gateway since Frenchy's isn't there.
  5. Already starting excused for a users internet stream not working, I've heard them all in the past. My download speed is in excess of 6 mpbs and I've had problems with past UND streams (while those from other schools work perfectly). My hardware has never been outdated and still is not. If the advertised new stream does not work, I better not hear the "it's on my end" excuse again. It is not on my end, never has been, never will be. I'm not holding my breath until I see the results of the new web stream.
  6. http://www.rateyourseats.com/showratings/locations.php?venue_id=target-center-nba&location_id=6 Fairly good site for seeing view from all sections.
  7. Sounds good, guess I missed the small print, and I didn't want to end up on the glass. Anyone know how many rows are in the lower level?
  8. How low down did they put you? The reason I didn't buy right away was because there was not a choice, and I didn't want lower level first two or three rows. If I could have selected an upper row I would have done it. The ticket purchase at that time did state that, using the code on the UND site, you would be placed in a section with other UND fans.
  9. Could only get lower level corners to come up on the site, so, bought second row center ice in the upper level (231). Don't know where the lower bowl center ice tickets are, but they can't be all sold. Also can't see any "select a section" option on the site. The online ticket buying is hardly user friendly. Totaly unlike the X web site, which gives you good views of the ice online in all sections. All I could find for the targetcenter is this pic: http://www.bing.com/...selectedIndex=0 Has anyone been in the target center? Do lower bowl seats rise as quickly as a normal hockey venue (like the X), or is it rather flat with a gradual rise? I'm hoping the first few rows of upper level are similar to club level at the X. There are also some pics of the timberwolve setup from different areas around the arena: http://www.bing.com/...ves&Form=IQFRDR Looks like our view will look a little like this: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Target+Center+Seating+For+Timberwolves&Form=IQFRDR#view=detail&id=CA133C79E8705D1E91C4A88BCC5054C495711A5D&selectedIndex=168 Doesn't hang over the ice like the upper level at the X and theralph. Lower level doesn't seem to rise as quickly as it should to be a good hockey venue. I'm not too impressed with this for hockey.
  10. I've no doubt that midco would love to sell their regional sports channel to both directv and dish. It's the two satellite tv providers that need to be flooded with requests. The could add this network to their sports pak add-ons, if they choose to spend the money. I suspect they won't, however.
  11. He'll be paid the same whether he's playing for the Kings or in the AHL. Two way contracts have two different levels of pay.
  12. Cheapshot Bruin dmen use forearms and elbows to the head disguised as checking. Haven't seen a call on these headhunters yet. Detroit got away with it, Boston may as well too.
  13. The knockout was even better in HD
  14. Not Gopher officials, but Zetterburg (sp?) might have been a Gopher, with all the behind the back muggings of Toews (without calls), but pulls a disappearing act when there's a chance of a face to face meeting, gets behind the officials, or turns Toews over to the large Wing dmen to continue the mugging. While I don't see much diving, the Abdelcater (sp?) act which brought about a Toews penalty and the Wing PP goal, that was certainly embellishment, and no matter how many times I watch the "loop", I can't see any stick, including his own, going off his face. The ripping Toews is taking from the the between period commentators (until the Hawks win last night) has been comical, while the praise for the Swede is the same. How many goals have either of them scored in this series? A wash, much like the Toews line vs the Parise line in the previous series.
  15. Didn't know they had lost it, but it was terrible. 2 halftimes and 3 halves to every hockey game.
  16. Yep, the guide is often wrong. Was waiting a couple weeks ago to watch a Stanley Cup game on NBC local (Sunday afternoon), the guide showed it, but we go the Bison inter-squad spring game instead. Looks like all first round series' could be done today. Only Boston/Toronto and NYR/Wash have the potential of a Monday game 7.
  17. 159 had them; also some games on 208 and 157, except the Wild/Blackhawks, which had to be watched on FSN, if in the FSN region. Don't know where you are, but if in one of the Fox regional footprints carrying the games you mentioned, you have to watch on that channel, as NBCSN and/or CNBC will be blacked out. But, only the top 250 package has NBCSN, top 120 or greater has CNBC. One of the drawbacks of satellite TV, you need to add 100+ stations to get the 1 station you want. All Stanley Cup games have also been found FTA in HD.
  18. Would be nice to see Nelson in the Isle's lineup tonight, since it's the only game today, and otherwise devoid of former Sioux
  19. Goalie commitment, SJHL goaltender of the year http://www.sjhl.ca/n...errer_id=630895
  20. Major bonehead play by Clutterbuck. Looks like JT got into Cal's head rather than vice versa.
  21. Yep, the color guy, he makes the call unbearable. Don't know where he came from, but he can return there anytime.
  22. Being forced to watch the FSN production while the NBC is blacked out because I live in the FSN region is driving me nuts. I have no wish to listen to Lapanta, Gorg, and company whining constantly like they are doing a Gopher game. Looks like we'll finally get to watch the NBC production this afternoon since it's on the NBC local network. Just have to hope that there is not some Bison intersquad game that preempts the local hockey broadcast (which happened near the end of the regular NHL season). Oh, well, I'm a Hawk fan anyway.
  23. I see a large group of us joined in Oct 2001. Was that when this site was started?
  24. Hadn't looked until just now, but I was, I believe, #2 a few years ago, have now dropped to #9, and falling. Ran out of words at some point, but anyone who reads one entire rw77 post should get at least 50 creds, each time
  25. Changed my mind, 1 black, 1 gray, black one with moniker (deleted previous post).
