  1. If you've been losing sleep for 13 straight years, I certainly hope, for your sake, they win one soon.
  2. With that, it would seem that a 3 or 4 seed from the WCHA has the best chance of going to the Quinnipiac region. That looks better than becoming a second 1 seed along with MN out of the WCHA. A 2 seed is almost guaranteed to be in what we'd think of as a "region of death". Right now, St. Cloud and Denver are the best positioned to be the team to the Quinnipiac region.
  3. In that case, I give up. not sure who we are flogging on with these facetious posts, but I'll give it up if you will Which brings me back to the Duluth championship mentioned earlier. No team played as poorly as Duluth down the stretch, and although they made it to St.Paul, they absolutely stunk it up against Bemidji. When the game was tied going into the third, I said to my kid, " we're going to see the Connely line over and over again in the third", but that didn't happen. In fact, it hardly happened at all, they were benched for the most part. Which led me to believe Scott was satisified with losing that game, either to get more rest before the NCAA's (they were in without doing anything in St. Paul) or, he followed the math, and saw the chances of getting sent east to the Yale region were really good with a loss. Not sure which it was, but had to be one/or both of them.
  4. Missed that, is Lowell still consistent enough lately to consider them, or can absolutely no one win?
  5. Very true, the first one to the wide open net with Walsh out of it was the luckiest dman stick save I have ever seen. Have seen goalies make those lucky saves (Denver on Friday), but not a dman BTW, Rocco did not miss the net on that one, as I believe the broadcasters said. The other sure goal, the potential Parks wraparound into a wide open net, when, from the other side of the net, Walsh pushed off the net before Parks could tuck it in, without getting caught.
  6. In thats the case, I'd suggest only Lowell, and maybe Miami, have a chance for the championship. Was going to put Quinnipiac in there as well but I think they recently lost a couple. Certainly no WCHA team has a chance.
  7. I'll agree with the OT getting worked for several minutes, wish they had tackled and used stick take downs to recover the puck, like was going on for the whole third period when the Sioux were working Bemidji Bemidji's system keeps scoring low, they are not a skilled or very good team, just hard working. If they could have added holding and stick take downs to their game throughout the season and not get called, their record would be way better than it is.
  8. I differ from you as follows: 1. Any team can hang with and beat, or be beaten by, any team in the country. 2. I agree the chance to win the cup is almost 0. 3. I think the Gophers will take 4 from Bemidji, because, although Bemidji will pack the neutral zone and the front of the net, when the Gophers get through and Bemidji holds and takes down Gophers, they'll get the deserved PP's. 4. I didn't see major lapses last night, just a lot of effort, and lots of Bemidji tackles and stick take downs, uncalled.
  9. Felt better yesterday when the team had control of its own destiny for second place. Now they do not; it's now 3rd place. IMO the first place team will end up in St. Paul, but not all of 2 through 6 will.
  10. Son lived in the SE corner of Shoreview for a time, very close (a few blocks) from Rice Street, so I've been down it many times. Not nearly as busy as many streets in the Cities, very easy place to get to, although I've not made it to the brunch, will definitely make it happen this year. Assume you'll try and get numbers when the day has been decided? There is also a Rice Street exit to the north off 694, for easy access for those coming from there (including those staying in the Shoreview motels next to 694). Looks a bit more like ND will be in a Thursday game now, but nothing is decided (not to mention they need to win a home playoff series first).
  11. And that was the story of the game; the holding and stick take downs were so blatant that they went way beyond the old hooking/holding/interference that used to be allowed. There had to be double digit scoring chances eliminated by blatant uncalled penalties. Bemidji can beat or tie MN if they are allowed to do that next weekend, otherwise they will get blown out. Surprised I haven't seen the sure goal Parks wraparound mentioned, when Walsh went outside the net, and ended up below the goal line on the wrong side of the net. Couldn't figure out how the net came off before Parks could score, but the replay showed that Walsh backed into it and knocked it off, it was more subtle than most of the holding and takedowns, but eliminated a goal nonetheless. Can't blame the team for this one (can't even imagine how the effort from beginning to end is questioned ), they played hard and well. Wish they would have done one thing, when Bemidji had their long possession in the Sioux end, in the third and OT, wish the Sioux would have held/taken down Bemidji players to regain the puck (Bemidji did this constantly with no calls), maybe then the whistles would have been used. Now lets see two more games get called like this next weekend, both at Bemidji (but I bet it won't, and the Gophers will, and should, get more than 5 PP's if Bemidji resorts to holding and take downs). I certainly don't want to see it again in a Sioux game. I'd like to see Bemidji again, with the game called like most are; doesn't look like that will happen however, best chance is Mich. Tech, followed by a Thursday game in St. Paul. Although major shifts will likely happen again next weekend, it too close not to.
  12. Yep, and the "let them play" style favors Bemidji's defensive game.
  13. Beavers have not been getting neutral ice clogged up like last night. but they are packing it in around the net similar to Michigan in the NCAA's a couple years ago. Need a good bounce or deflection. Way more shot attempts by ND from good scoring areas, but Beavers lead in shots on goal 5-4
  14. Find Toews assist in OT; might be even more sick than Oshie's http://video.blackhawks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=210710&lang=en&navid=DL|CHI|home
  15. After last night, just take care of business, win out, and avoid a Thursday game/loss. That would insure a good Friday brunch at the HB
  16. I'd prefer Friday as well since we can go from there to the 2PM game, rather than drive all the way down from Blaine and return (not going to Wild game).
  17. USCHO pairwise has the Sioux 4 and Lowell 7, on here the two are reversed?
  18. Are there still tickets available? Seems that ticketmaster has not had any for a couple weeks.
  19. BTN is really way over hyping the lousy product they are showing us, especially this Sunday/Monday series. Makes me wonder why Wisco built that huge ice surface that is the Kohl Center; that 1-2-2 style is so much easier on NHL ice. They do it fairly well on their big ice, however. Not sure where the offense comes from. If I were a highly regarded recruit, I'd really have to want to go there badly, certainly not to showcase any offensive talent I may possess.
  20. Next year's Gopher record in the BTN may look very similar to this year's Quinnipiac record in the ECAC. And that could go on for years. Second place will be very competitive though. And Wisco drops 10 spots to 27 in pairwise.
  21. No love for 70's players since the teams were unsuccessful at both the WCHA and national scale, but I'll throw out some of the best from that era: Jim Cahoon, Earl Anderson, Al Hangsleben, Dennis Johnson, Roger Lameroux
  22. You fit in well with the out of control oil crowd that populate the oil area in western ND. Obnoxious drunks all the time.
  23. Was on the Root SD channel from the beginning, came on the HD channel at 8:30 (on dish)
  24. 412-04 on dish hopper
