  1. I think we are scapegoating Holinka. Look at the last 2 games. The offense was pathetic when it counted. Much different calling defense with the lead and a consistent offense than when you are consistently not scoring and usually 3 and out on offense. The defense was awful yesterday, but we didn't even have a decent offensive drive until we were down 24-0, fairly late in the second quarter. Hard to make adjustments when the offense goes 3 and out.
  2. I think 2022 was on the upper end of realistic expectations, if we would have lost vs NIU or @NAU, the season would have been much different and on the lower end of expectations. IMO, something should have been done after last season, that was a better team which woefully underperformed and literally just gave away at least 2 games(NDSU and MSU).
  3. If a team gets more than 3 real players out of the portal a year, it is just lucky. so much potential downside from a chemistry and team culture angle too. That being said we need some serious help on defense. ILB, OLB, S and C.
  4. How did I do? We won early "toss ups", and the rest went about as predicted.
  5. Totally agree. Last year was a better team which gave away too many games. This game was far uglier than the score indicates. Our defense was its usual poor self and the offense was just as bad when the game mattered, 2 weeks in a row on that count. I’m entering the apathy stage. it is what it is. Any bets that next season’s team finishes between 4 and 7 wins and if it’s 7 wins, loses its playoff game on the road in frustrating fashion?
  6. Will we have more yards at the EOG than WSU has points?
  7. 100% on the coaches.
  8. Looks like we had another good week of preparation. Got the boys all coached up and feeling confident….
  9. That is what we have . The question is that enough for UND? Average.
  10. Always the players. This team is well coached? Are you kidding me?
  11. Need a drive badly.
  12. I don't disagree, but that is always the case at certain positions and is the case with the guys to our south too. Did you notice when we got burned on the long pass last weekend when we had NDSU backed up, our "slow" secondary members ran down the SU receiver like he was chained to a post? Much more going on. Watch that play. They are in trips and we have one high safety and man? underneath? The FS makes a move towards the one receiver side for some reason and Kaupinen lets the WR run right by him.
  13. True every single week the last 3 seasons at least. Let's roll Weber.
  14. Every team has strengths and weaknesses. The job of the coach is to make the sum of the parts greater than those parts individually and to use his strengths to exploit the opponents weaknesses. Don't forget in the last 2 calendar years we beat SDSU in the spring, had a chance at the end of the game last fall and made the worst coaching decision in the history of UND football early in the third qtr or would have beaten NDSU last fall.
  15. Jimmy's and Joe are certainly important but when it comes to football X and O's reign supreme. Examples of this at every level of football.
  16. Watch the Spring game. They pull guards AWAY from the run. Had nothing to do with size/speed/talent and everything to do with preparation. Here is the second run of game. Notice the formation and how they got our D to line up.
  17. NDSU has scored on its first run in the Spring 2021 game and its second run last Saturday. We need to stop with "we are prepared BS". Bison coaches obviously saw something in film they could exploit in both cases and executed. I guess we could just say they got "LUCKY". Set the tone in both games.
  18. Get them? Get who? Don’t they develop them. Who are all the giant NFL bound DL playing at the SU’s?
  19. Its always great to be reviewing, evaluating and adapting with everything in life, especially football, but watch the NDSU game again, then watch 2021. Body type, and base alignment has very little to do with why we are not prevailing against NDSU and SDSU. In fact I think the same case can be made for the spring 2021 game too. In the last 6 games against the two best teams in FCS during that time period, we are 1-5 and very easily could be 3-3. IMO it has far more to do with preparation, game planning and in-game coaching and adjustments. It's the same reason we escape with a close win against an inferior opponent or last years melt-down at Missouri State. Before you get all bent out of shape think about what I am saying and watch the film again. Film doesn't lie.
  20. You are correct. That season ended with a giant fart at home in the playoffs.
  21. Yes, I have been thinking that Noah Larson and Jordan Canady made a ton of tackles over the last several years and we have not been nearly as good stopping the run.
  22. When has this not been the case away from the Alerus in a big game?
