    this has always been my stance as well. Specifically with regard to the Sioux name if Native Americans are offended by it I have no problem with UND changing it. I dont think a university should be offending a race of people. But we never really got to see whether a majority of people are offended by it and that's what irks me. A bunch of white people dont need to tell native americans what to be offended about as if they cant think for themselves

    you have literally no way of knowing that. You might be right; you might not be. But youre only going off your personal taste.

    nothing is going to move as much merchandise as Sioux. It's just not going to happen. Whether one of those names can get close remains to be seen, and we likely won't have our answer for multiple decades.

    If that were the case I doubt we'd see as many shots on goal as we have had so far this season. Then again we don't have many shots against either.....

    tough to know for sure until the schedule heats up a bit, but UND is 4th nationally in shots per game and 9th in shots allowed per game. That's incredible for a team as young as we are, and I dont remember it ever being that good under Hakstol

    went roughriders the first time and stuck with it, although i wouldnt be upset if nodaks won.

    sure hope you're right about this being temporary, Petey. I could learn to like Roughriders or Nodaks but I think they left a lot of potentially good nicknames on the cutting room floor

    I don't think I'd buy much of any Hawks stuff unless the logo is fantastic. Either of the other two I'd make sure to buy some stuff though

    yes i get that. The quote from the hockey writers was that the plan was to go to BC for a year to get stronger and then go to the AHL or NHL, and I was responding to your own quote about him thinking he was on the fast track to the NHL

    You'd think he would want to get stronger since that is one of the major knocks against him. 0 points against anyone other than a terrible CC team doesn't really scream that he's ready to play against professionals

    now that there is an extra vote i agree it is much less likely fighting hawks will be the case (of course, i didnt think so many people would support it the first time). i imagine most people who vote roughriders or nodaks will vote the other in the final vote (unless by some miracle it's those two in the final vote obviously)

    I imagine I would feel the same in your position. My fear is this is going to drag on longer because of all the twists and turns this process has taken and deviating from the original script as much as it has. My hope would be that in a few years that would be lessened and thus the feelings hurt afterwards would be lessened, but that might be a pipe dream

    as long as we are bringing that up again, i agree with you for the most part but i think we should have been just north dakota for 5ish or so more years. At some point I think a new nickname would have gradually picked up some momentum rather than being this forced

    this is maybe the worst analysis i've ever read of anything other than the bit about the hawks logo which is probably 100% why most people wanted it
