I do design work for a living . . . and, to me, it's not the same as digging a ditch or putting a roof on a house. You don't just blow through it and move on. The art represents who YOU are as a person as well as representing others. I highly doubt they just threw something together. It's their name associated with it . . . and it's going to represent their work for a long time to come. Any opportunity to work on a project like this is an opportunity to put something great into a portfolio. What good would it do to NOT put forth the effort? I guess I'm saying I totally disagree with you. I'm excited to see the end result.

I've decided I'm going to like the new logo no matter what it ends up being . . . because really, there just seems to be more important issues in my world than what version of bird UND uses. The only way to be unique is to start with a unique name. That didn't really happen. So from there on, I don't think it much matters. Go Hawks!

totally agree . . . growing up in northern MN the only thing that ever stopped a practice was lighting or hale.

Wow . . . a pioneer mascot is racist? Vikings, Bucaneers, Raiders, etc. were all known for killing and stealing, but somehow they are OK? Forget it, I just can't wrap my head around this situation anymore.

Well . . . rain might bring lighting. I'd assume a winning record and the hype of the upcoming season plays the biggest factor.

Trust . . . trust what the coaches are seeing when they are recruiting. I'm sure there are some of these highlight reels that look incredible, but there may be some disconnect with who they are, their work ethic, or demeanor.

Now i see it . . . it is a hawk pie with a big shark bite taken out. I'm sure that's what they were going for.

Wait . . . "Dakota" itself is derived from Native American origins, yes? Better change the name of the state then, too.

I'm just excited to see so many return players. It seems that you usually only recognize a players name for a year or two, then they are gone. So many of the names we saw on the field last year still have two or three seasons in them!!!

I was just scrolling through . . . seemed to show up in a couple of different threads. Just a general good vibe about having Will there. I know that the consensus is that he will be in the fullback position, but I have hopes to see him at linebacker.

Read some posts on the Falcon's fan forum . . . everyone seems to be impressed and rooting for Will.

37" would put him in 4th at this years combine (for linebackers) per NFL.com. Anyway, there are certainly some athletes on the UND squad. Get some football knowledge in them and the future will look pretty bright. Numbers at the combine can help someone who's been overlooked a bit (any UND linebackers come to mind?), but the real numbers are in the season's stats , in my opinion.

I saw Disterhaupt's numbers against the LB's in this year's combine . . . he'd have done well. Still has two more seasons to play! UND has some athletes on the squad, for sure.

Like it or not, they ARE NOT the Sioux anymore. Nobody is bashing on anyone for still sporting the Sioux gear (hell, I still wear mine), but it seems to be alright to bark at anyone who's moved on and accepts the new name. Maybe I'll wear a Sioux shirt and a F'n Hawks hat and see what happens. Someone's head will certainly explode

So grey now is like ten years ago when everyone changed whatever color they had to super dark, or black. Still not sold

I do like the matte green UND helmets.

The matte purple that the Vikings wear now...yuck! They look like plums. And those grey uniforms for the ProBowl are just ugly. just my opinion.
