  1. No link, sorry. As far as I know it wasn't published anywhere but I haven't looked. You have no reason to believe me but I have talked to someone involved in decision-making with the WCHA and it was verified. However, feel free to ask around or dig around. Something might be out there about it...whether documented from WCHA meetings or by simply asking a coach. I won't give a name and you have every right to believe I'm making this up but I assure you this is legit. Also, jojordan...the turn-around for the playin game winner was in fact one of my suggestions as to why the games are played in the order they are...
  2. Just ask any of UND's coaches or any FAR from a WCHA school. Not everything that happens at WCHA or NCAA meetings always becomes public knowledge. It's a new thing...word probably hasn't spread much yet. All I know is, I'm a fan of the decision. I always hated that it seemed the WCHA was more about $$ than being fair. They still have a long way to go, but this is a step in the right direction.
  3. About why the #1 seed plays the night game...I guess they think that the #1 seed should get the premier game of the evening? Not really sure. Maybe that coupled with the winner of the play-in game getting those few extra hours from Thurs to Fri?
  4. The point is actually quite relevant. It is my understanding that from now on (until it is once again voted upon by the 10 schools' representatives) the Final Five will be played with #2/#3 in the afternoon and #1/#4 playing the evening game. This is regardless of where MN falls in the seeding. One would hope that those in the twin cities area would find a way to make it to the afternoon game if their team is in it and the attendance shouldn't be too affected. To my knowledge the "MN rule" was overturned due to the unfair advantage the schools thought MN was given to always have the night game...
  5. As far as what game we would play at the Final Five, our game should be locked in. Unless CC does not make the tournament and UND then becomes the #1 seed that is the only instance I can think of that would change our game time. There is no longer the "Minnesota rule" which automatically has them play the Friday night game. It all depends solely on the bracketing.
  6. Dear UAA, I would greatly appreciate a come-from-behind victory by your team tonight. Also, completing the sweep tomorrow would be ok with me too. I know you don't have a whole lot you're playing for but if you could just arrange these wins I will totally cheer for you to win your first round series with CC and even cheer for you at the Final Five if we don't play you. I'm sure you understand that your compliance with this plan is of utmost importance. Thank you for your time and effort. Sincerely, Sioux fan who doesn't want to see Minnesota in the WCHA first round games
  7. Hunt was the referee. Apparently in the pre-game they said there was a mix-up in MSP and some of the luggage was lost. Hunt was wearing Freeman's shirt which I guess meant that the linesmen had to wear their jackets since Freeman's shirt was on Hunt's back. I was at the game and at first I thought maybe Freeman was the ref but then noticed he was a linesman like normal and it was definitely Hunt as the ref. Never mind...not fast enough
  8. Harmeson taught BLaw for at least double digit years. He was also the Associate Dean of the B. School with Dennis Elbert. Personally, I would hate to see him clean out his office. He does infinite more good for UND than most people realize, and with Kupchella coming in and being an "outsider" I don't think our school would have made much progress without the likes of Harmeson, Boyd, and other local boys helping out in upper administration.
  9. Does it have to be something from an actual Fighting Sioux Hockey event? I'd like to vote for the insane Toews goal on Oct. 19th when the Blackhawks played the Avalanche...I know it's a stretch but that was sweet and made me proud he was a former Sioux...
  10. His dad passed away so the normal hockey announcer was helping out with the radio broadcast.
  11. I had gotten so used to (and excited about) not seeing Adam ref any of our games that I kind of forgot he existed. The last time we were unfortunate enough to have him ref our game, Bina was wheeled off on a stretcher and Paukovich only got a 2 min. minor. I will forever extremely dislike Adam...if he never reffed a UND game again I would be happy. Maybe in his first time back he wanted a little revenge on the team that got him the suspension from reffing their games and called a few extra (and weak) penalties. Thoughts?
  12. I thought it was M-E-D-I-O-C-R-E Mediocre! Mediocre! We'rrrrrrrre mediocre!
  13. No. Kupchella was the one waving his pom poms for Buning.
  14. What a tough few minutes for Oshie and Porter, to have to answer questions when they were obviously still processing the loss. Porter still had his jersey on...
  15. Hey all Colorado Springs Sioux fans! I just talked with Overtime Bar & Grill (Union and Dublin) and they will be showing the game on the big projector screen tonight at 6. Come on out and tell all the Sioux fans you know in the Springs! It should be a fun time. GO SIOUX!!!
  16. I'm surprised there aren't any parties in the Co. Springs area...Sioux fans are everywhere around here!
  17. The Connellys played together only 1 year - I believe from 2001-2002. And if you want to get really crazy...the first brother/sister combo I know of would be Chris and Jenny Porter
  18. What about the Connelly brothers - Brendan and Ryan...from White Bear Lake, MN?
  19. I would think that issue would be safe regardless of the new president for a few reasons: 1) We won't even have "the new guy" until a year from now when a lot will probably have happened toward a conclusion in this, 2) the lawsuit has already been filed and they are working toward settling the issue through that, 3) and most importantly, the UND pres. has to answer to the NDBH on this one and I see no reason to believe that their stance on the issue would change - meaning the new guy would have little say (if any) in the matter. As far as the new guy, I agree with whoever said it should be someone from ND. I think someone who knows the area, the demographics, the cultural and political climate, etc. would be valuable, as well as someone who has good relations with the ND legislature. I don't think many people realize how key it is to have someone working at that level for UND who can get things done during the legislative session. Who that would be, I don't know...there have to be some local/area people who would be well-qualified and represent UND well. Maybe even a "home-grown" candidate would be refreshing...
  20. If the main concern (and I think this is legit) is the students and what they might yell, why not get something printed up telling them what the deal is? I would bet over 90% of the students that sit in those sections during games are very much in support of the nickname. If they know what they yell could be detrimental they just might shut up for once...Just a thought.
  21. http://www.suntimes.com/output/hockey/cst-spt-nhl06.html I got a little chuckle out of this one. Go Sioux!!
  22. Yeah, for some reason I remembered Philip looking much smaller than 6'0". Although I suppose standing next to the hogs on the O line anyone would look small! I had pictured Moore looking somewhat like Dressler. Guess I was a little off...
  23. It sounds like the building isn't even half sold out. What is the deal? It can't be the cost, because I think $19 is pretty decent for NHL hockey. Are people still bitter from the lock-out or what? I think it is pretty pathetic we can't get close to a sell-out for this caliber of a game....
  24. A few stats: 10, 681 fans in attendance Offensively 513 total yards 250 rushing 263 throwing Belmore 9 of 15, 175 yds, 4 TD's (2 TD's to Dressler, 2 TD's to Grossman) 22 first downs Wins time of possession - 31:35 Defensively Ross Brennan: 2 sacks, 2 QB hurries, 2 tackles for loss Tyler Dahlen: 6 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 QB sack Digger Anderson: 5 solo tackles, 1 interception Jeff Glas moves into 2nd place on all-time scoring chart. Passed RB Philip Moore. Digger's 5 solo tackles today move him to 4 shy of Andy Dahlen's all-time record.
