Hello...is anyone out there? NDSU lost their defensive coordinator to USC. I am excited to watch the Sioux play. The days are counting down. Anyone wanna start a pool for when the IPF will be announced?

I have stayed at the Embassy Suites a few times in downtown St. Paul. They have a shuttle that runs back and forth to the X. They also have a free happy hour or two before the games!!! All you can drink!! Not to mention a complimentary cook to order breakfast. They hire security guards to literally run around the building at night during these events. Gave up on the student athletes? Anyone recruited knows there is no chance at home playoff ncaa sanctioned games(at least the ones recruited from here on out). This is about the fans wanting to see winners. Not about caring for the student athletes.

This is about UND's new hockey conference, not about future nonconference schedules.

I don't think so. There is an unwritten rule basically that if a team needs a conference it is their duty to take them in.

Did the contract actually state UND would drop the nickname if they didn't win approval. I seriously don't know.

And no where in that contract does it say UND can't be known as the Fighting Sioux. So it wouldn't be impairing any contract.

Having the State of ND have a university be the "fighting Sioux" is impairing a contract? To much legalese crap for me. But we all know the United States Congress passes many things "unconstitutional" that seem to stay "law"...."obamacare," etc etc etc http://wiki.answers....nconstitutional The thing about "law" and what that means is it always changes and is just peoples "opinion" (federal judges) and changes with the times (liberal vs conservative judges being appointed).....odd isn't it that one court finds obamacare unconstitutional but another court might not? (supreme court vs the rest)....my point...its a crazy lawed world.

UND will be forced to drop athletics! UND will continue to play Mayville St, Jamestown, and Minot St no matter what division they belong too. This is a non point because D2 is still NCAA and the same sanction would apply, whether it is the NSIC or the MVFC/Summit. Being Independent or being D2 would probably save the athletic department millions versus traveling all over the country getting to Big Sky destinations.

So it the petition to get the Sioux Name into the constitution passes what is Faison, and UND going to do, drop athletics? Doubt it. Still waiting for the NCHC to drop UND from the Conference.... This could be the best thing to happen to UND....get kicked out of the Big Sky so they can get into the missouri valley/summit with their dakota peers and save money (if/when drop the sioux name)...

I totally agree with you. This site is the minority of minorities. I have lots of facebook friends excited about UND keeping the name. I also believe there is a large number of nonvocal nickname supporters on this site. If the vote were to happen tomorrow (or this summer) I think the Pro Nickname crowd is/would be a lot more motivated to actually go to the polls... But who knows the whole petition is likely going to be thrown out....

Why fight it now...like other said it will just encourage the nickname supporters and help drive the numbers to get it into ND constitution...and then there is really nothing UND or the SBOHE could do!

I get why...because if its Fargo. The pro petition/nickname crowd will see a "victory" and the gloom and doom crowd predictions might not be as dire as they are making things out to be. Either way its not cool to wish ill will.
