  1. Ok good to know. Thanks. I have not really been there since they opened. Although I was there on New Years Eve. Had a good time. There was a band in the ballroom which was opened by a wall into the bar. I suspect when they remodeled a few years ago to open it up, it helped bring in the crowds.
  2. While I never really go on Say Anything Blog. It apparently has an influence. Journalism is long gone out the window. "Journalists" are just people. They shouldn't really have any more influence than me and you. They get things wrong a lot. They control the message of the country. I have learned many things about this country thanks to youtube that the MSM doesn't ever talk about. I think its good to have many outlets of information. And in some ways I think some blogs are actually helping expose the truth that many mainstream media doesn't report on.....Not necessarily talking about SAB, but many others in the political realm. While you might not agree with SAB, I haven't seen anything that is posted there that is "wrong." My biggest issue is this, which was printed not on a blog, but in an actual "newspaper". Should I believe a newspaper or people trying to discredit him on a anonymous siouxsports blog.
  3. It is possible to see the truth and still think we should move on? I don't see those are mutually exclusive. I agree it's best to move on and get a new nickname. There is really nothing UND can do at this point. The sanctions would continue. My biggest issue now is how UND is going to choose a new nickname. I fear it will not be an open process and our president, who has a history of backdoor shady dealings, will ultimately pick the name. But I guess that is three years away and if you ask me this is also dysfunctional to UND. It gives people like DaveK hope for three years and won't make the name issue go away anytime soon. If they don't get the petition numbers what stops them from trying next year or the next?

    Uniforms

Exactly. You know those players love playing in those jerseys and helmets. You know they love being "cutting edge." Those helmets really are probably the sweetest I have seen....would have been a badass "sioux" helmet.

I thought they were hideous ...maybe it was just the ugly orange.
  6. That bar is Muddy Rivers. It attracts an "older" crowd. Bonzers is a great pub with a good mix of old and young folks with the owners being big Sioux fans. Joe Blacks is the most popular bar downtown among the college aged students. Then you have the "dancing" at Gillys. The "trendy" Level 10. and the eclectic basment bar of O' Reilly's. Finally the relaxed hip pizza joint/bar of Rhombus Guys - I recommend this joint as you can relax on the rooftop, order some pizza, get a drink at the rooftop bar, and watch some sports on the projector under the stars....and then easily walk half a block to Sledsters, a small bar with a decent sized crowd.
  7. I think people just want the truth as to what is happening in this situation.
  8. Do you all believe what you are told, the ones the mainstream media pushes, never really asking the question behind the question. They don't attack us because we are free and we're rich. Here is the truth. The commissioner of a conference (the summit) is on record saying the UND president asked him to make the Sioux name an issue, to publicly forward the idea. The Summit leader agreed. And knowing this you really don't believe Kelly didn't do the same thing with the Big Sky? All arrows point to YES! Is it really that hard to connect the dots?
  9. No. Notre Dame would have killed the NCHC by hogging the tv exposure and money. The athletic directors were smart enough to see through their power grab. Having an NBC contract for Notre Dame hockey doesn't really do much for the rest of Hockey Easts teams Look what the NCHC is bringing us that the WCHA never did. A tv contract.
  10. Apparently after UND is "officially" in the conference. They couldn't kick UND out of the conference for having a "hostile and abusive" nickname. The Big Sky Constitution states: The Big Sky has no rules on nicknames for UND to violate. Furthermore, the Big Sky could have written something in the clause about acceptance (like the Summit apparently) about the nickname if it was an issue. But it never was. Instead the Commissioner of the Big Sky sent UND a letter stating Which Kelley signed. And if you are Kelley would believe the above sentence and have not reason to believe the Sioux nickname would have been a "deterrent" to joining since signed a letter stating you were a member from the Commissioner. Instead we have Rick Burgum, who serves as Chairman of the Board for the UND Foundation, writing this, Which is a weird statement to write after UND has a signed contract from the Big Sky stating they were already a member. I highly doubt he would have looked up the Big Sky constitution, as this letter would have been more visible.
  11. That was a long ramble about nothing. Obviously Sioux Hockey can be in the NCHC. That is exactly what the Big Sky Constitution was saying. I was talking about Cal Poly and UC Davis, as I thought you might catch on to that. Affiliate membership. I looked it up they have that section too. They don't get a voting say.
  12. BEMIDJI STATES HOCKEY GAMES ARE IN HIGH DEFINITION!
  13. Doesn't take a new truck to get a power play clock!
  14. I am tired of an administration that is reactive rather than proactive....Division I. HD TV. And not give me the same lame excuse(money). People ain't buying it!
  15. Yes. Because it was already in the conference? Money? Tradition? Would any of those really mattered to WCHA/NCHC presidents more than Big Sky and its potentials? I mean it's pretty easy for Bruce McClown to have come out and say UND needs to change its name or it will no longer compete in the WCHA.
  16. Why was there no word from the WCHA about dropping UND while this sanctions list came out? Or the start of the NCHC?
  17. With special exceptions? Sounds like there is already one hole in that "constitution." If there was, by the slightest chance, UND might readopt the Sioux name, It would be after the summer anyways. After UND is in the Big Sky.
  18. Do you honestly believe the Big Sky presidents would unanimously vote to kick UND out of the Big Sky is they are the Fighting Sioux?
  19. I have my doubts they will even get 10,000 signatures.
  20. So if UND doesn't chip in for this turf....The Alerus is basically getting no money from UND to use the field...as the turf will cost the Alerus $66,000 per Sioux UND home game based on the terms 10 year life expectancy. I believe the UND pays the Alerus Center under $20,000 per home game....that's not a good business decision if they are going to lose over $40,000 per home game just to have UND play there. Does UND keep the ticket sales? Or the Alerus?

I love the Ducks helmets they got on today....I think it is the first "chrome" helmets I have seen.

While a lot of people are "traditionalists" and don't like anything "new." These players love the jerseys/helmets. They love being flashy....My only criticism of Oregon's jerseys is the numbers look like duct tape. Compare that with the boring Wisconsin uniform....Everythings white with a "W" on the helmet....bland and boring. edit: I love Oregons feathers they integrate in their uniforms reminds me of the Sioux....too bad the sioux didn't do something like that in their uniforms back in the day when they had a chance.

No because combat is more than involving military action. At least according to Merriam-Webster dictionary as the #1 definition of combat is
  24. It's fun to watch Bison fans think UND is going to get kicked out of the Big Sky.
