  1. "Flip out" You're full of assumptions today.
  2. For you to even bring it up today, of all days, is completely asinine. As has been the case for quite some time, there will continue to be a debate regarding the nickname. Don't for a second assume that the 87% that support the nickname will remain silent and watch the name 'Fighting Sioux' be whimsically removed.
  3. Student tickets went on sale yesterday. My sister and her husband got some around 8:00 yesterday morning. Call the REA at 701/777.4167 or 877.91.SIOUX
  4. Thanks, Pat. I guess I should have read the paper earlier today... Simply coming back and playing should be a good sign. If he had any broken bones, it doesn't seem that would have been possible. Best to get injuries out of the way early in the year. Not sure about last night, but a situation like that would have resulted in a scrap not too long ago. Anyone remember that game against the Russian nat'l team (?)? Ben Jacobsen could throw 'em.
  5. Was this in practice ? Maybe now Porter will get out of bed on time and take his role with the team a little more seriously.
  6. Apparently Pat Sweeney reads USCHO as well, cause 'DAZ just did a feature on Ranfranz that used the USCHO article as a reference. Good story. I'm sure it should be available online at In-Forum . Click on the link for the 10pm newscast of WDAZ.

    Dixon Ward

He was recalled to the Rangers on November 4th, but was sent down again on the 7th after appearing in two games. Currently leads the Hartford Wolfpack in scoring. Hartford Wolfpack
  8. I was sick of seeing all these other threads at the top of the page. We're playing WISCONSIN this weekend. Where is all the passion for Sioux hockey? Where is all of the hatred of the Badgers? Come on people. Who cares about the Brooks/Foss fiasco anyway? That should be more of an issue in MSP where they are scrambling as to why one of "their own" would turn on them. My heart says (like every week) the Sioux will sweep. With the ZP line getting slowed down the past couple weeks, this should be a break out series for them. Quinn has been getting so many chances that he has to cash them in at some point. The Sioux also have been able to put 4 solid lines on the ice, so concentrating on the ZP line is not necessarily the way to beat this Sioux team. Goalies looked 'better' last weekend. Still not too confident in either of them. Siembida had his eyes checked last week, with everything checking out fine. Maybe they need to see a psychologist or something, though nothing does more for the confidence than WINS. Defense looks good. What a weekend it would be for one of them to go Commie on a Wisco player, especially with Archie in town. Should be tremendous. Only 52 hours until the puck drops. Go Sioux!
  9. They both did. Russ played for BHS as a sophomore, then went to some school in the Cities his junior year, and back to BHS for his senior year. He was noticed by the Gophers while attending hs in the Cities. (Someone must remember what school he attended. I believe they won a state title.) He must be 26 or 27 years old now. I don't think that the brothers played together in high school.
  10. Both the Herald and Forum editorial boards address the issue as well. The Herald sure had to choke down the words, but nevertheless were quite critical of the NDSU student senate. Fargo Forum Grand Forks Herald
  11. Viewers in NW Minnesota should also express their gratitude to Sjoberg's Cable TV. Email address is sjobergs@mncable.net
  12. Not bad for a knucklehead.
  13. So are you sticking around for all 14 games ??
  14. Fargo has a bunch of twins coming up through the ranks that play the same position in basketball? And one of them wants to major in pharmacy? And they BOTH want scholarships to the same school? Maybe Coach Roebuck better change his recruiting philosophy and petition the NDSBHE to add a Pharmacy program to UND.
  15. I don't know if it's just me or what, but I read the Forum's account of the accusations at least 3 times and the Herald account of the story 4 times and I don't see anywhere where the Mankato State coach ties these incidents to a loss of a game. And since you didn't hear anything, the coach must be lying or looking for a scapegoat.
  16. "more than enough fans left in the Prestigious Tailgate areas to fill the Fabulous Fargo Dome." Sicatoka, I imagine you'll get some sort of reply that includes something like this. Yeah, and it's not UND fans that push the attendance up at the Sioux/Bison games. OK.
  17. Sioux soccer ladies defeat the mighty Bison Wonder if soccer will be one of the sports that gets axed at NDSU once the bill comes due for the 63 football scholarships and Coach Babich's "DI salary".

    The Golden Arm #4

John, It's too bad for Kelby that all he has to look back on over his career is losing out on the godawful Golden Arm award, oh, and the little ring on his finger. The only thing Graiggy has is a 'g' where there should have been a 'c'. He'll neverovercome that. He'll go down as the least productive QB in the history of Bizon football. Onward to Division I (AA) for the Bizon! "Bring on Purdue and Indiana!"
  19. That same poster is also the one that said Parise made a hasty decision to attend UND. Nothing but sour grapes. This poster didn't have Michigan as a #3 team, either, so what Parise did this weekend was a fluke. Keep believing that and it may come true. It's pretty funny that there are so many experts out there that have all this 'insight' on what Parise is going to do after just two games. All of this warning from fans of other teams gives an indication that maybe the Sioux are going to be a little better this year and they are worried about that. Sounds good to me.

    Sioux/Bison

Yep, he's the guy with the "golden arm", ya know.

    Sioux/Bison

I think it goes to show the pressure that the coaching staff's of both programs are under to win THIS game. Neither team called too many plays where anything bad was even a possibility. The game plan was to stay conservative and make the other side fail. I listened to WDAY's call-in shows last week and the vast majority of the callers were critical of the Bison, but would forgive "as long as they beat the Sioux". That's what a rivalry is all about, eh? Glad to see the good guys pick up this one. Go Sioux!
