  1. I already stated that a couple posts above. Nonetheless, a $400 "option" isn't much of an option.
  2. Really? Anyway, from the UND Official Athletics website, I clicked on the "Click to listen" button (Teamline) and was sent to this Teamline's UND sports broadcast. My question: Is this going to be the only option for listening to a web-cast of the audio to UND sports this season?
  3. I don't know if you guys have seen a live game at the Alerus, but what we are watching appears to be exactly the same as what is seen on the video screens in the arena. That has to be the reason for the "fire up Sioux" and "T-O-U-C-H-D-O-W-N" graphics. Sounds reasonable, anyway. 42-0 wow. Crookston has been outscored 108-7 only 6 quarters into the season. Make that 49-0 and 115-7... Remind me why the Sioux play my alma mater again?
  4. Jamel Alkins, a sophomore wide receiver from Coon Rapids, Minn., is not with the Sioux as they prepare for next week's opener against Minnesota-Crookston. Other items are mentioned in the Herald article, but this was the most interesting sentence in it. A big disappointment. On another note, does anyone know if Reeza is still going to school at UND?

  6. Figured I'd post what I know... (hi, Loe)... Brian planned to possibly transfer to be able to get more involved in the game. Unfortunately he was hurt (neck) during the season last year when he had replaced Bentow as the starting punter. The injury turned out to require surgery early this summer and now Brian is rehabbing in order to possibly punt for the Sioux after obtaining a medical redshirt for this coming season. If I have anything wrong, I apologize.
  7. Predators trade for AHL defenceman of the year.
  8. I believe that the architect slated to be at today's press conference was former Sioux football player Mike Kuntz. I also believe he worked for Shoen and Associates when the "new" REA was built. If anyone knows, chime in.
  9. I'm not picking a fight either, but directly behind the net at the old REA was a season ticket section. That was section 'A'. I am pretty positive that section 'B' was a season ticket section as well (possibly GA because of the band being in that section). I didn't sit there, so I can't say for sure. The student section then started across the next aisle, somewhere near the goal line extended. People have suggested that the students get 104, 105, and 106, "like in the old REA". Those same people probably never were IN the old REA, as those equivalent seats simply were not part of the student section, at least not since before the early 90's (with the exception of 106).
  10. This could be a problem for the out-of-town fans that are unable to make it to the game if the implement something from a survey I saw a few weeks back at The REA website. One question was "Should season tickets come in the form of a credit card-styled swipe card?" That, in my opinion, would be the beginning of the end of whatever "atmosphere" is left in the REA. Why on earth would you not allow for people unable to use their tickets to sell (or, often, give) those tickets to someone that can use them? I see that the survey is down at the moment, but would be quite interested in what the results were. Anyone?

I've been mentioning this since the first weekend I saw the Sioux this season. The last captain I remember that had that gritty, get-under-your-skin kind of attitude was... Dave Hakstol. He also looks to me like he loves the game every time he touches the ice. Reminds me of Matt Henderson in that respect. It will be fun to watch him over the rest of this year and the years to come.
  13. It isn't selective hearing (or reading) that JBB is practicing. As evidenced in nearly every post made by this person, it is quite clear that the person you are debating suffers from a severe case of DD. That's dumbass disease. The continued juvenile referrals of UND as something my 10 year old niece would have come up with and the attempts at actually blaming the UND coaches for getting harassed and assaulted is evidence of this. I thought there was a time that this person was warned to shape up in his/her postings. Siouxrock may be annoying and all, but this person is making it just as difficult to have an intelligent conversation on a number of topics on this message board. I think a suspension is way overdue in this case. You guys remember SDSU fan? Of course you do. He was certainly over the top, but did add some substance at times. This person has added NOTHING.
  14. We're supposed to take what some student writer who calls himself "Sports Geek" as gospel? And the drivel about "the City of Fargo didn't want to report it"? OK. Whatever you say. I suppose it is common knowledge to the Bison faithful that UND fans caused upwards of $100,000 of damage at ONE FOOTBALL GAME and that was a fact that didn't make the news because "the City of Fargo didn't want to report it". That is pretty laughable. Yeah, those Bison coaches sure know how to turn the other cheek. If only the Sioux coaches could all learn to act like they do. What else can you come up with to justify the allegations of racist comments coming from NDSU fans? I should point out that it wasn't only at this game, but since you are an "Insider", you already knew that.
  15. This has to be directed at me. Touchy response? If you don't like what SIOUX fans post on here regarding situations occurring at UND, then you don't have to come here and make the comments. Seems pretty simple. How long would it take for a Sioux fan to get their posting privileges revoked if entering into a scholarship conversation on the POI site? Maybe two posts? You guys were calling for dirty's head for posting one (true) sentence. Like Pat has said, it doesn't matter how you 'feel' about it. As for the recruiting, each player is obviously handled in a different manner. If you think that players such as Zach Parise, or in the future, Sidney Crosby, are going to be told the same things as guys that are looked upon as role players, you are the one that is being naive. You obviously have an axe to grind with Blais for some reason and it has been going on for years. I'd also like to know how you know that the reason players leave UND is because of on-ice performance only. How would you know? Did you personally talk to Dean Blais about every player that has left UND during his tenure? It seems kind of odd that when players leave other programs "more often than not, it is an academic/behavioral issue", but when players leave UND, they are gassed merely because he "just doesn't pan out like the coach thought". How do you know that players that left UND ''were working hard"? How do you know that players that left UND "were going to practice"? How do you know? You don't. Just like EVERYBODY else.
  16. Good one. That could apply to about 10 threads on this message board right now, minus the UND/NDSU fans agreeing part. It's gotta be kind of fun, though, to have just discovered the internet as a 10 year old. Plus his heart is at least in the right place, being a Sioux fan and all. He/she just needs to take some phonics classes (I think I remember that started in about 5th grade.) and pass a couple of Friday spelling tests and in about 7 or 8 years maybe he/she will be able to add some constructive conversation to these message boards. Anyone have odds on that occurring?
  17. Hammy, you can talk all you want about the Gophers keeping Leimbeck and Pagel because they were 'obligated' by giving them scholarships in the first place. I feel you can't hardly compare a couple of guys that end up as 5th or 6th line players, or 9th or 10th defensemen, that don't pan out to arguably all FOUR of your goaltenders. It's pretty difficult to 'hide' a goalie when none of them are performing at the level they were expected to. All of your insinuating that it will hurt Blais with potential recruits is getting pretty tiresome. This 'holier than thou' attitude that seems to believe that not one player has ever been asked to leave the Gopher program has gotten tiresome as well. It has happened before and it will happen again. It happens EVERYWHERE. Good god, there's a coach that expects the players that he recruits to give 100% every shift and to contribute positively to the team that he is responsible for. Can't ask for a lot more than that, can you? If a kid isn't pulling his weight, the coach of ANY program has the prerogative to do what is necessary to better the program. Period. It's like out in the real world. When there is someone that is not pulling their weight that is a co-worker of yours, does that person deserve to keep their job just because they were hired in the first place? I sure wouldn't think so. And with Division I athletics, it isn't that much of a stretch to make this analogy. That said, I don't know what the answer is to the goaltending 'problem'. I hope things start to come together beginning this Friday. BAM, I think you are totally misunderstanding some posts on this (and other) thread(s). Sioux fans want to see the best possible product that is available. It has been stated that the goaltending this season has been less than what was expected. In this stretch of the last 10 games, other facets of the team have performed at levels less than what was expected as well. I don't think that even members of the team would argue with that point. To say that does not at all question the loyalty and admiration that we (FANS) have of the Sioux hockey program. We just want the team to work hard and win some games. Is that too much to hope for?

    The Ice

In somewhere around 30 years of running Zamboni's at Sioux hockey games, I think Denny G. probably knows a little bit about how to run the machine.
  19. NUMEROUS times this has been mentioned in the last 5 or 6 years. Especially the juvenile M-I-C-K-E-Y chant. The students don't seem to get it. And I don't want to hear the same old "Well, if they didn't tell us what we can and can't do..." crap. The students need to obtain some creativity somewhere and discover that they can indeed be loud and obnoxious without cussing every other word. It's not that difficult. When I was a student, I sure don't remember hearing all of the crap that is heard from the students today. The most annoying thing from back then was the "Sioux, Yeah yeah" "Yeah, Sioux Sioux" chant. And, dirty, it is a little early to be whining about where your seats are going to be next year. I'm not going to say schmidtdoggydog is wrong, but I find it a little hard to believe that they are going to simply move people that are in the Varsity club level ($300) of the Fighting Sioux Club into prime seats at center ice, when the people directly across the arena from them are Director's Club level and higher ($2500 plus). If that happens, it will piss off more people and this stupid controversy will never end. They'll end up pricing more and more people out of seats in the lower bowl. If the students are moved, I am convinced that they are going to re-seat the entire thing. To obtain a seat in 108 and 109, I'm guessing that there will be a contribution of the Coach's Club level at a minimum. It is all speculation at this point, though. As schmidtdoggydog said, an announcement will be coming shortly.
  20. Does anyone else think of the the movie Tommy Boy when reading Siouxrock's post's? Did you eat a lotta paint chips when you were a kid.....?

    Ziggy

I'll cut him some slack on that one, PCM. I don't remember a lot of stuff back from when I was 4 myself. 1997 was a long time ago when you are a 10 year old today.
  22. I feel fights in practice at this point of the season are less likely to be because of "the team turning on each other" but because of some trying to instill into others that they need to get their !@$! together for the sake of the team. JMO
  23. Is he bringing Clay Henry? (you know... the fireman and the Jared fan)
  24. Central beat the Firebirds 9-0. Moreland with 5 goals. Grafton - PR beat Bismarck Century 3-2
