  1. nodak651: You say the idea is "unpopular". I say it's time to revisit it. The prior conversation: Start at about Post 12. Initially the ITF could host UND MLax because it is being built with seating for about 1500. When it needs more space there's Alerus Center.
  2. Shoveled off the field?
  3. Question: Is it appropriate to toss a gopher onto the ice? No, not for that reason, but because is it really representative of Minnesota's mascot? Look at "Goldie": coloring and striping more like a chipmunk, flat tail like a beaver, and true 13-striped ground squirrels ("gophers") don't have overbites like that. I think Goldie is ... uh ... um ... "ethnically diverse" due to the ... uh ... um ... "outreach activities" of his mother.
  4. Well, southern valley is still just windy: no precipitation so far. I see this happening: Nothing until about 3 pm today, and then it cuts loose overnight so Fargo area schools cancelled for nothing on Monday and won't cancel on Tuesday (when they should because of poor roads). Takers?
  5. Schools in the Fargo-Moorhead area have already cancelled, before the precipitation has even started. What's that mean? It's sure to be a dud.
  6. Someone seems awfully insecure about "FBS wins".
  7. In the scenario presented here, UND would be hosting as a member of an FBS Big Sky. Beyond that, in Year 2 of transition a team counts as FBS (and only in Year 2, not Year 1 of transition, do they have to start meeting the "15k rule"). I recommend that you read Section 20 of the Division I manual to understand the rule and requirements. (I have.)
  8. "Never" is a really big word. Who would've believed Wyoming would "host" a game in Tennessee.
  9. Any of these games on SiriusXM?
  10. RMU needs to play more than 15 seconds.
  11. I think John needs to meet Monique and Joseline on a rink.
  12. No, the "NHL on Sirius" guys were joking that a 4-goal lead is the most dangerous. (A couple of NHL teams have blown 4-goal leads in the last week.) I still say 2-goal is the worst. You get a little comfortable and then bang-bang, you're tied, and have no momentum.
  13. Down 3-1, late, pressing, yeah, I can see giving up a 4-on-1.
  14. Friday, March 28 • 1 p.m.: Union vs. Vermont, East Regional semifinal, ESPNU • 3:30 p.m.: Ferris State vs. Colgate, Midwest Regional semifinal, ESPN3 (tape-delayed on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m.) • 4:30 p.m.: Quinnipiac vs. Providence, East Regional semifinal, ESPNU • 7 p.m.: Wisconsin vs. North Dakota, Midwest Regional semifinal, ESPNU Read more: http://www.uscho.com/2014/03/23/heres-the-tv-schedule-for-the-ncaa-division-i-mens-tournament/#ixzz2xHew1Ms8
  15. Personally, in September and October I think later starts (5 pm or later) is smart: It lets folks use the day and it lets folks drive in for the game. Later in the season, when working outside is less likely, earlier. And ... schedule a road game on deer opener.
  16. Post of the Day.
  17. A senator and a general are in a room. Who is sitting at attention? Which is asking questions and which is answering? There's your answer about rank John.
  18. Impressive, ... but generals work for Senators and Congressmen. Let's see, UND claims a governor (or more), a US cabinet level secretary, and an ambassador. And then there's the matter of the communications theory that allows for things like cell phones and the internet, developed by Harry Nyquist -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Nyquist Every EE and communications engineer on earth learns the Nyquist sampling theorem.
  19. If such things were to come to pass you'd rather have Panzarella out there.
  20. So, pretty much a normal Saturday night?
  21. I'm surprised no one is thinking that they'll swap 15 and 16 for travel *and* attendance: - Bobby Mo could bus to BC's regional in Worcester (533 miles, saving a plane) - DU could go to St. Paul on their no-matter-what-they-fly flight - More DU fans would go to MSP over Worcester And I do believe Vermont will be kept east and UND will be in Cincy. Final thought: Moy's brackets are set for conference rivals to meet in both eastern regional finals (BC-UML, Union/Quin). I'd swap UML and Quin. They'd complain about the "extra travel" but Worchester to Bridgeport is like Mayville to Portland around here. (Bridgeport to Worcester is 114 miles.)
  22. Well, at least NDSU won't have to live through the off-season with their largest margin of defeat this season being 18 points to North Dakota. That's a silver lining ... isn't it?
  23. Ties. (Not even scores. Neckware.) Where's that list ... I need to keep that handy ... there it is: Cary Eades, Brad Berry, Steve Johnson, Tony Hrkac, ...
  24. Random observations from channel surfing five channels yesterday*: 1. ECAC teams should *never* play on Olympic ice. Never. Talk about no puck possession, perimeter games. Womens games on NHL ice have better possession time. 2. (And this applies to UND very much so): The quality of skating in college hockey has taken a noticeable drop in the last decade. The Corn/Q game had nothing but a bunch of human Zambonis out there. The Ohio State guys were tripping over open ice. Heck, Brandon Bochenski would have looked like Tara Lipinski out there in just about every game. (RIP Nancy Berggraf ) 3. Now that realignment has happened, put the events back on campus for a while, until new rivalries have been established. The empty seats are disheartening. Good grief, even The X was empty last night, with Goldie playing no less! *Yes, if you have the Midco sports package you had FCS (ECAC), FSN (WCHA), BTN (Big Ten), NBCSN (HEA), and CBSSN (NCHC). Thanks to the buddy that clued me in on that little factoid.
