  1. " ... and we liked it that way!"
  2. The Herald writes an editorial that makes sense. I'm stunned.
  3. “I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,” said Abe Lincoln in 1858. The man who freed slaves said that. No equity for black and white. Tear down the Lincoln Memorial, I guess, while you're knocking down the Jefferson Memorial. Here's a more recent claim from Sammy Davis Jr's daughter: So even the much beloved John F. Kennedy can't pass today's muster. Kennedy didn't approve of interracial marriages (Ms. Britt was white; Mr Davis was black.)
  4. The "Old Course" ... I liked when they said yesterday that the "New Course" at St. Andrew's is 200 years older than the United States.
  5. Sweet. I'm sure they'll run it as well as the US Post Office and "$800 for a hammer" Pentagon.
  6. To my knowledge the US Special Forces deployed do not have "go" clearance. They have to get "up the chain" approval to wipe their nose after a sneeze. (<-- G rated version of what I wanted to say ) cberkas: In hockey terms, SAS, SEALs, Delta, they're fourth liners. They know the job; they take pride in doing it and being able to do it. "Demo Dickie" Marcinko (former CO of SEAL Team Six) is more Ryan Reeves (STL) than Sidney Crosby (PIT). Military "first liners" are pretty-boy pilots: "look at us, aren't we pretty and getting all the girls and good press" poster children. Everyone says, "My look at them go!" but people that know the "game" know you need those fourth liners to go out there and get dirty in the corners and bang on the other guys in their zone.
  7. Side note: Never before in the history of the internet has a thread been more aptly named.
  8. Let's put this in hockey terms: One team is playing North American, up close and make them bleed, grind 'em style; the other side is playing fluffy, Euro style (with drones). The Brits have told their "fourth liners" they can "go" at will. Has the US?
  9. Nope. They'll be in full bloom either way. Well, those chants sure didn't help UND's case with the NCAA ...
  10. Seems rampant.
  11. Not so fast, it takes two to tango, or should I say there are two sides to the coin: If NDSU hadn't chosen what it chose that trophy would've never been selected; for example, if NDSU had stayed the "Aggies". This is a precise example of what Schlossman pointed out: There's enough blame to spread around and all share part of it. But are all willing to admit it.
  12. You're reading it as LITTLE People of America. They read it as Little PEOPLE of America.
  13. Say it turns out to be such (someone who actively sought out overseas training, etc.). What will the President do then?
  14. Not at Big Sky Conference media day?
  15. They've listed the two-deep in pro-set two-back. I'm guessing Walker is in the 11 package if it was listed. What surprises me is Ruhe not on at TE (or is he still considered injured, ala Mollberg). EDIT: On the right side of the two-deep page is a list of "spring injuries". -- Walker, Stockwell, Ruhe, Mollberg, et al.
  16. "You never let a serious crisis go to waste." -- Rahm Emanuel It's the new mantra of (both sides of the aisle) American politics.
  17. How about we start blaming the perpetrators and quit making excuses, rationalizations, justifications, etc.
  18. Not Indian, but same arguments: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_MIDGET_MASCOT_DISPUTE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-07-17-07-43-53
  19. One more thought: I like that Akron is rebranding as "Ohio's Polytechnic University". To this point Akron was just another MAC school; now, they have something differentiating. I believe Missouri-Rolla rebranded as Missouri Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) recently and it was a good thing for them.
  20. It, a reference to Minnesota's state motto, would fit them (a Minnesota school) far better.
  21. They're trying to figure out how this could have happened. They were sure Schlossman couldn't find anything but REA in Grand Forks.
  22. I have to admit, in the Akron press release "215 job cuts" is the headline. That's the one the greater community is worried about. "Dropping baseball" becomes a footnote in that press release. That does align to the notion of Volley's "PR Rule #1". Better link to U of Akron's ITF: http://www.gozips.com/athletics/facilities/stile
  23. Speculate? Agree, and that's where (thinking about it some more) I think the 90% of 85 number (76.5) might be it. Why? Because you have to average 90% of FBS max on a rolling two-year basis to be considered FBS today. I suspect that more than we know of the G5 are getting by that way today. The P5 would probably say you have to be at that number to play a game against a P5. The second tier would probably say you have to support at least 90% of the 90% (or 67) to move to the second tier. That would let the G5 save some face (as they "align" again). It would allow the top of FCS (who can afford it, yeah, some marginally) to move up, but it would also be a move up as it would be adding scholarships (63 to 67). That would allow the "just getting by" part of FCS to stay where there are (again saving face). Honestly, I'd expect that group a few years after that to start moving their number down. What blows this whole notion up? The P5 group (and their TV money) saying, "We're going to 20 per class, or 100 on campus at any time." Possible? Very. But in the land for FCOA, that gets pricey quick also.
  24. Which means it should be Nokota, not Nodaks.
