  1. See: St. Cloud State (down about 8000 in a decade).
  2. I chat with some NDSU folks and the ones who are on their campus every day have told me NDSU needed (and still needs) a "Schafer and Kennedy." Those two came in to UND as business minds (owner or CFO) and cut the budget where it needed no matter whose sacred cow got gored. They took about $500,000,000.00 of deferred maintenance off the budget books and in the process cleaned up the look of campus and freed up money for new and better projects. We're starting to see the dividends.
  3. As both a congratulation and a stark warning: HS graduating classes are shrinking (it's 18 years after the 2008 recession and birth rates fell drastically in 2008). UND recruiting has done an awesome job but it can't let up as it only gets tougher from here.

  5. Based on the link they do a "30th Day" enrollment which works out to very early October for them. https://www.stcloudstate.edu/air/_files/documents/reports/enrollment/total-enrollment/fall-2022-total-enrollment.pdf
  6. "The local" picked up on the UND press release: https://knoxradio.com/2023/09/21/und-sees-best-fall-enrollment-in-6-years-2/
  7. Logistics? Next level thinking and planning? Being able to organize a two-car parade (much less a three-car)? No. It's much more fun to just have a random brain spark and vomit it onto a keyboard and claim it's a Picasso.
  8. OTT needs to get the RFA deal done with Shane Pinto. This is getting silly. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/senators
  9. Indeed. Thanks for the clarification.
  10. Who is this and why do we care? More specifically: If this is a private person I'm not comfortable pointing at them; if this is an NDSU employee or media member "doing their job" that's slightly different but still if the name isn't readily recognizable* as a public figure I'm concerned. *e.g. Port, McFeely, Kolpack, Dr. Cook, Dr. Armacost, use their names all day
  11. Looks like @nodak651 just validated @Teeder11 main numbers (11,952 and -2.4%). From the link, NDSU: Freshmen 2022: 2592 Freshmen 2023: 2260 (I get -12.8%)
  12. Yes, Mrs Lincoln, and how was the play ...
  13. Ah yes, the Lucius rule ...
  14. NIL?
  15. I suspect even that may be optimistic. I know little of the circumstance but NCAA gonna NCAA.
  16. How do you know that? Are you not obeying the restraining order that precludes you from staring through the windows during classes?
  17. You always trot out the prize pony first.
  18. The notion is a smoke screen to (end game) set up a "better" and "lesser" conference from the 2PAC and MWC without the MWC schools having to pay exit fees. The bottom MWC surely see it as well and will not stand to get stiffed.
  19. How do you budget when you have no idea where you need to travel in a year if you're relegated (or moved up)? And what'll your revenues be if you move up, or worse, down? It's a great thought experiment but few presidents and ADs play on that section of the risk-reward curve.
  20. You lost me right there.
  21. Is it wrong for me to wish the HC wasn't the tallest person in that photo shoot?
  22. Flying Soicer? < said in my best Curly voice, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk > Oh ... Spicer.
  23. I keep Singleton on my Excel notes sheet but I'm certainly starting to question it.
  24. UND Census Day 2023: 14,172 (+296); up about 2.13%. Increases in new freshman, new transfers, new grad students, total undergrad, and total grad. NDSU Census Day 2023: 11,952 (-290); down about 2.4%. New freshman down 11.9% from last year. Congrats UND. You got after it; now keep after it. Disclaimer: Thanks to @Teeder11 for the raw data. I just compiled it into one post.
  25. Recruiting is more casino than science at times.
