  1. The transition rules are set up to make you struggle.
  2. To what do you refer when you say "a non-government entity"? Surely you do not mean the state constitution defined courts of the State of North Dakota. You must mean the NCAA which, by it's monikers policy, effectively stripped power from the ND SBoHE.
  3. What's worth more in national TV ratings? - a "round of 96" game between Moose Guts Tech and West Crawdaddy State, or - a quarter-final (opening round) ACC game between Wake Forest and North Carolina State. That will also play into this process.
  4. So, looking at that from a conference point of view: UND must be in a cluster with SCSU, Bemidji St, and UNO as those teams play both home and road series. This gets UND 12 games. The other pairs must be: Home - Road Denver - CC Minn - Wisc Duluth - Mankato(?) UAA - Tech(?) Playing these make another 16 games for a 28 game schedule. Anyone know what the other clusters are?
  5. I think that's been done already. That's the only street concrete in north Fargo without a pothole.
  6. Finley's shoulder was - lower than Skille's (good trick when you're 6'7") - in front of Skille's when contact was made. Finley moved in front of the puck carrier to separate him from the puck. It's probably the best legal move Finley made in his career. Unfortunately for Skille the contact point was his elbow and it didn't deal with the force very well. Now, compare that hit to the hit by Marvin on Genoway. Or the slew foot. Of the CFBs on LaPoint and Bina.
  7. The HS QB numbers looked great on that Mertens kid from EGF.
  8. Vig sidestepped an out-of-control check. Vig was just the other guy in the photo. Smaby? Clean hit with an unfortunate outcome. Finley got tangled up with Skille. It wasn't an illegal type play or action. (In the same game another Badger tweeked a knee and yet another got a bruised thigh in a collision with Chris Porter.) You can't tell me knee-to-knee contact or CFB or slew footing is incidental or accidental. As a matter of fact, all three (kneeing, CFB, slew foot) are explicitly mentioned in the rule book as penalties. Yes, injuries happen in sport. But the league needs to start consistently cracking down on the most dangerous of the illegal stuff. I'm worried that the pace we're on that some day Robbie Bina's injury will seem minor. That should scare everyone.
  9. Given the national health care debate, and the recent questions about the stewardship of premiums at BC/BS of ND, why would Sanford MeritCare want to open themselves up to all of the questions that would come with that sort of fiscal outlay?
  10. Heck, why play a regular season at all? Put all the teams into a monster double-elimination tournament. Seed them by the luck of the draw. It makes as much sense as anything else.
  11. I wonder how many of SDSU's football playoff roster guys we're tagged as "not quite DI material" when they were brought in. Performance matters.
  12. Hey, this'll happen ... exactly 75 years after the Fargo and West Fargo public school districts merge into one.
  13. I know this is stealing the concept from another site, but I like it: + = Bucki is a skunk in a popcorn box.
  14. From Schlossman's blog:
  15. Looks like Friday's game will be on NHL Network. And Saturday NHL Network will be carrying Womens Hockey: Canada v. USA. Seems the prime-time "L" in NHL Network this weekend will stand for "Lamoureux".
  16. Allow me to point out a man who could be both educational and humorous, as this definition of "irony" is accurate and hilarious: UND's record to date is coincidence.
  17. Texas and Alabama Boise St and TCU Cincinnati and Florida Oregon and Ohio State Iowa and Georgia Tech Personally, I wish they'd have swapped Boise St and Iowa. Having Boise and TCU doesn't benchmark those two against "power" conferences. My way would do a better job of showing how legitimate the MWC and Big East are.
  18. That was obvious the instant the "DI-A" and "DI-AA" names were dropped in favor of ... - Football Bowl Subdivision - Football Championship Subdivision Pretty clear right there that those in power view the bowls and a championship playoff as mutually exclusive arenas.
  19. I was at USCHO and busting "Scooby Doo's" chops about how Minnesota's Schroder and Fairchild are on my milk carton. I decided it was time to create a "last seen on the side of milk carton" thread for college hockey 2009-10. I've given away two so far. I have a few more names. Feel free to add what's on your milk carton. Has anyone seen referee Brian Thul or referee Scott Bokal since November 21 in Denver?
  20. VV sitting proved what I've said for a while: Split VV and Gregoire up. Last night proved that Gregoire's been the one carrying the load for that line all along.
  21. They pick BC$ teams based on what the "BC$" abbreviation stands for: Big Cash $. The Bearcats just don't bring the cash-money, travel or TV, that the Hook'em Horns do. If it really turns out to be "Fiesta Bowl: Cincy and Boise" there'll be syndicated replays of "Everybody Loves Raymond" on local cable that'll get a bigger ratings number.
  22. To the team and coaches: A two goal lead is not enough. Ever. Period. Winning 3-1 might be good enough, but guess what: Winning 8-2 is way more fun. Try it some time. To the league: Why have four officials on the ice if none of them can control the game or see what is happening, like a puck in the netting.
  23. UND/UMD playing 4x4 with 30 seconds left in the second. 1-0 UND.
  24. Tech's taken a major and Buckie already has potted two in the first 90 seconds of it. 2-0 Buckies. And now a frustrated Tech takes another so it give UW two minutes of 5x3. 3-0.
  25. "Chris VandeVelde is day-to-day ... " But aren't we all? Sorry, but I had to say it. Jumpin' fritters, we're playing w/o 2/3 of the seniors and 2/3 of the captains. I'm assuming this puts Cichy into the line-up.
