All of this flagellation just to create a Division I lower-tier "Summit League North Division" that is merely the better half of the old North Central Conference.

Kupchella tried partnership regarding some doctorate programs. (Save the duplication, allowing NDSU to put the money into new areas.) Chapman told him competition is good and started duplicate programs. So, partnership or competition.

This you got right.
-
My guess: The Big Ten.
-
Next year: WCHA at 12. CCHA at 11. UAH needing a home. That makes 24. My math says 24/3 = 8.

I miss an eight-team league where everyone played a "balanced" schedule (two at home, two on road, against every other league member).

Folks you're all missing the key word: Time Warner CABLE. If cable has broadcasting rights they aren't going to put it up onto Dish or Direct. If "Sportsnet NY" has the broadcasting rights, who knows where the feed goes.
-
Time Warner Cable-CNY is on Dish Network? Note that in the link 'sprig' gave it shows "Time Warner Cable-CNY" and "Time Warner Cable Albany". Time Warner runs a "regional" network based on location. What they show in Albany may not be the same as what they show in "CNY" (meaning Syracuse or Rochester or Ithaca) or they can run the same on both. Key example: They run Rensselaer games on "Time Warner Cable Albany" because Rensselaer (Troy, NY) and Albany are adjoining cities. Rensselaer (Troy, NY) and Union (Schenectady, NY) touch Albany, NY, hence they'd run it on TWC-Albany. Cornell (Ithaca, NY) and Colgate (Hamilton, NY) are in Central NY (CNY), hence they'd run it on TWC-CNY. It's the same concept as running it on "Midcontinent - Grand Forks" but not "Midcontinent - Rapid City" (if such things existed).

CNY ... Central New York, like where Ithaca, Albany, Syracuse, and Rochester are. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?state=NY&country=US

Friday, when Malone scored, I knew they'd go defensive, and I knew it would backfire because there was too much time left. This team can play lock-down defensive for about five minutes. Anything more and bad things happen, namely, they'll give up a bad goal and they'll have shut down the offense for the night (meaning at best a tie will follow). Best defense in my mind? Cycling the puck down low in the offensive end, with the defensemen looking utterly bored watching from the points.
-
Once, just once, can I see the team establish a two-goal lead and then make a serious attempt to extend it to three or four or more. When they go "trap" or "defensive" or "third-man high" or "lock" or whatever name you want to call it the players all look like they are thinking and not playing. When they're playing they have the puck on their stick ... and friends, that is the best defense.

Cornell: It's somewhere in central New York state. I believe Ithaca, NY. I think that's somewhere in central New York state also. I'd guess their primary target demographic would live in central New York state also. I wonder what the CNY on "Time Warner Cable-CNY" stands for.

You can wish it differently because of personal likes, but we live in a world of reality and the general overall interest right now is hockey.

Until someone does one.

Given the health status of the organization it's ... Gene and Travis plus eight!

Honestly, these days, if there's any sort of "night signal" issues I go to the broadband and listen on-line. About the only time I'm really concerned about radio is if I'm in a car during a game. Is commercial radio going the way of commercial newspapers?

The key in reading that is reading what it says: " ... shall average at least 15,000 in actual or paid attendance ... " That means that you need to follow either section 20.9.7.3.1.1 Actual Attendance or 20.9.7.3.1.2 Paid Attendance. NOTE: In the NCAA manual if you follow 20.9.7.3.1.2, you must include all the subsections like 20.9.7.3.1.2.1.1 and so on.
-
If I'm wrong so is the "2009-10 NCAA Division I Manual" because that's where that was copied and pasted from. So who's wrong now.
-
Did you read what I posted directly from the NCAA manual? All of the hows and whats are in there. They define "paid" or "actual" attendance and how to count it.
-
Actually ... (says the guy with the 2008-10 NCAA DI Manual on his screen) ...

I'd guess shortly after the Winter Olympics it could get interesting. - They'll be searching for a permanent assistant for the one that left to move closer to family. - They'll be finishing up recruiting (and their access to Olympic caliber players should improve thanks to the Lamoureux twins). I say this because a spy heard Idalski speaking at Sioux Boosters in Fargo recently. The impression was that Idalski (because he actually showed some emotion ) has something good in store.

Home game. Upper left corner. That's why they call it "nationally televised".

More poetry ... from Robert S. Kane: The purple cow I have unfortunately seen. It is as you'd expect: crossed with an aubergine. Standing in a field or laid out on a plate it is as you'd expect: cross, and a mistake.

By request ... THE PURPLE COW by Gelett Burgess (1866-1951) I never saw a Purple Cow, I never hope to see one; But I can tell you, anyhow, I'd rather see than be one.
