Have to love this article: http://www.cbssports...p-but-should-it Love this quote: What a moron that administrator is. The NCAA membership, college administrators like that one, voted the NCAA executives that power ... and the membership was too stupid to see how the NCAA would turn around and use it. Me? Hey, to that administrator and all the others too dumb to see where that "moral police" power would go, I say my four favorite words: I. Told. You. So.

Wrong analogy. It would be like the company that manages all the concert arenas in the country telling Motley Crue they can still be a rock band, but if they want to play in arenas they manage Motley Crue can't use the name "Motley Crue". What are Motley Crue's choices in this scenario? (a) Change the name to "The Dr. Feelgood Band" and get the venues (and revenues), or (b) Keep the name and only be playing at backyard bar mitzvahs. In DaveK's world the decision is clear: Lech haim, Vince Neil, lech haim!

If Lucia can't see the difference in the tan-striped rats with Guentzel behind the bench instead of Hill, Lucia deserves to lose him. My guess is Lucia sees the difference and Guentzel will get paid to stay in the rat hole.

Montreal's front office is a mess right now. Getting a new leadership team in place is their first priority. That, however, isn't all good news for UND fans hoping for Kristo to return. Kristo still becomes able to sign with any team (not just the Habs) on August 1. So the big question remains: Does Kristo want to stay and put full effort into one more run at a title or does he want to sign a professional contract?

With the team Hak had during the stretch run (meaning short bench, lots of non-scholarship and walk-on guys)? Easy. Here's how:
-
Stack for the "Ulmer"!
-
Didn't Nashville have a guy from a Canadian college make a big push for them in last year's playoffs?
-
Someone self-reported a simple error. Unintentional and over.
-
Why throw someone under the bus? If you know what it was you'd know who it was.
-
I said you had to be very, very observant while watching the WMU/UND game on television. That's all I'll say.
-
I was at the "Ulmer" game. That's the game I came off of DU goalie Stephen Wagner's Christmas card list. There were under 4000 at old REA that night so it was pretty easy to be heard. I kept reminding Wagner that "Pettinger was the smart one!" throughout the game. Wagner heard me and "gestured" my way at one point. (Matt Pettinger had left DU at mid-season to play for Calgary in the WHL.)

That's more the "Why is FSU allowed their logo?" argument. I know of one "Oops!" where UND used the logo, self-reported immediately, and the NCAA gave an "OK" because it was a pure oversight and completely unintentional. (It was in a spot you'd never think to look for a logo to remove and not something the general public would normally see.) Those who watched the UND/WMU game very, very observantly may have seen it.

Especially when you're not the martyr. For the martyr, you're dead. It wasn't a bluff by the NCAA. They were looking for a flagrant violation to make an example of UND. How can I say that? Over the weekend I talked with a UND athlete who played in an NCAA tournament.

But if SL gets tossed from Federal court this month that is (with apologies to Dan "The Common Man" Cole, KFAN Radio) ... "the end of the end of the end".
-
Honestly, SL's "chance" may be gone before the end of the month. I'm pretty sure Chewey said the Federal court would be taking some sort of preliminary action yet this month. (I think it would be with regard to the NCAA's motion to have the whole case dismissed.) Come the June vote SL's shot might be over for a month plus.

At the track meet, beware of the dangling participle.
-
Uhhh ... wrong direction. That's only for inbound, not outbound.

Congratulations to Monique Lamoureux-Kolls for the "Ulmer" against Canada. What's an "Ulmer"? It's a scoring feat named for Jason Ulmer after a WCHA first-round playoff game on Sunday, March 12, 2000. Jason put up three goals and three assists in a 9-4 UND win over DU.

I'm willing to go on record with an " ... I think soon will show ... " prediction. I think a Tuesday in June will show a lot of North Dakotans are tired of this tragic misadventure and will vote to end it. I wouldn't have said that before Easter weekend and going out and talking to a lot of relatives who love the name but are tired of the (i) distraction and wasted energy, (ii) politicing behind it, and (iii) money spent on it. I suspect there's more "moniker fatigue" out there than we realize.
-
First, no Fetch, it's not what you can live with. News flash: It's not all about you. The University of North Dakota was here long before you and it'll be here long after you. It's about UND, not you Fetch. Secondly, if it was just "no logo, no name" at tournaments, I'd agree. But it's also no home playoff games, and it's also no games against region institutions that we, The University of North Dakota, want to be the full peers of (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa).
-
I suspect Danny Kristo is "playing out the clock" until August 1, 2012. The longer we hear nothing from him confirms that to me.
-
What you describe is now known as a "classical liberal". They had to change the definition in light of how the term "liberal" is used today.
-
Your lifetime? You? Sorry Dave, this isn't all about you. Let's talk about what we are reallly talking about: The University of North Dakota. It has run with no moniker, with Flickertails, with "NODAKS" on the basketball uniforms, with "Sioux", with "Fighting Sioux", and with more logos than I'll try to recall. The "identity" has changed before, but it also hasn't changed depending on how you look at it, because it has always been The University of North Dakota through all that. So Dave, if this is all about "your lifetime" I guess I'd worry about your feelings being hurt. This is about The University of North Dakota and what decision (ugly as it could come to be) is best for it.

They need to look at how they seed this. PIT and PHI and are getting hosed and NJD gets a big break. I think the seeding should be by points (with division winners only guaranteed a spot in the eight teams, not the top three seeds). I think it should be: NYR, PIT, PHI, BOS, NJD, FLA, WAS, OTT. and VAN, STL, NAS, DET, CHI, PHX, SJS, LAK

I don't know how Tom Ward doesn't have the inside track in Mankato. As far as named for UND if Eades did leave: Brad Berry.
