Can you explain to me how removing the moniker will solve the issue you put forth? There will always be jerks in the world. Removing the moniker won't resolve that.

All we (from FSU to Utah to CMU to UND to IUP to Newberry) want is a simple, consistent policy. What the NCAA has now is a system of arbitrary and capricious exceptions and exemptions. The lack of consistency makes the NCAA far less than credible. Stand for something, or go lay by your dish, NCAA.

The only statement on topic that matters is that of the omnipotent NCAA. Their Executive Committee report on Native American Mascots states the following (pay special attention to the bolded words):

UND is currently *not* on the NCAA "naughty" list because of the settlement agreement, hence the games you mention. What comes next is anyone's guess.

He's right in that statement: A bunch of folks at the NCAA are trying to tell Spirit Lake their vote means nothing.

Russell deserves a better fate. His team won their exhibition opener, and then went 3-0-2 (beating NMU, LSS, and MSUM, tied NMU and MSUM). But from Oct 16 to that freaky Friday (Feb 18) in Denver the number under the "W" did not change. I guess no coach would survive "zero for four months".

I'm saying I sure hope they can point to other times they've flown to Bismarck to lobby at the Legislature or there will be more and more questions.
