I am excited about the kind of player Malone has started to develop into. Tough, decent/good offense great defensive forward. I could see his role expanding the next two seasons. #1fan Posted February 24, 2009 Share Posted February 24, 2009 If Trupp and Toews are both still hurt I'm guessing we'll see: First line the same: Duncan, Gregoire, Hextall Second line: Kozek moves up to play with VandeVelde and Frattin Third line the same: Zajac, Watkins, Martens Fourth line: Malone, Lamoureux, Davidson With two forwards hurt and one defenseman out for the season we need this to stop. We don't need no stinkin' injuries! Would love to see these lineups. Kozek definitely should be up on the second line and he can showcase his great offensive ability.. Also davidson would be great with Malone and Lamoureax. At least he has some size and is not going to get injures every time he gets hit. Miller is twice the player at defense! If you move him to forward Fienhage would have to be the 6th defenseman, which is too risky at this point of the season. Miller is not the strongest in the defensive zone, but the offensive he provides on the blue-line usually balances out his defensive downside. Got to stick with Genoway, Jones, Finley, Blood, Miller, and Marto from here on out! It is easier to hide inexperience up front than on defense! He did get a goal at Tech, if I recall correctly. I think he can fill in very nicely. I think he is a pretty well rounded player who would put up some numbers if he got more playing time. I don't see Sioux fans talking !@#$ about the goofs... in fact I kinda feel bad for them. On top of that I don't think there is a single Sioux fan who doesn't wanna see us play the goofs in the final five cuz no matter what the outcome it would be a great game! Then I read this article from Denver regarding the UND vs CC series http://www.denverpost.com/colleges/ci_11770553 Now I understand how Denver would love to see a CC sweep so they don't have to worry about a tie with us on top the WCHA but what I don't understand is how a coach (dasher troll) can even consider making a public statement about hoping a Sioux loss (or any teams loss for that matter)! They should be concentrating on their upcoming series and not be so worried about ours. The thing that drive me most crazy is that even if we win the WCHA title and/or the NCAA championship we will most likely still not be given credit by any other team! They're still gonna say "oh the Sioux are cheap players and only won because the refs sucked" or some other really stupid excuse like that. Why can no one just say "Hey you know the Sioux played really well and had a great season! Congrats!" and just leave it at that. I don't remember hearing Sioux fans talking !@#$ about BC when they knocked us out of the frozen 4 last year even though they kicked our ass... we just know we played like !@#$ and we look towards the next season. Bottom line: The Sioux are a great team and I don't see how anyone can argue that! Look at all we have accomplished and then tell me again why we suck... Why should we really care what other fans/programs think of us. If we can be proud of our team let them take shots. In crunch time, if needed, you could move Miller back to D and play with 11 F. Hak would probably shorten the bench in this situation anyway if Davidson was in the lineup. In an interview he talked about liking it because he gets to have the puck a lot more, and that really shows. Just that little bit of extra room makes him a much more dynamic player. For me, especially with LaPoint out, and despite the fact that he's not perfect in his own zone, Miller's back on defense the rest of the way. Up front, I don't break up any of the lines unless injury forces it, and then I try to only touch the line directly affected by the injury. In other words, I'm not breaking up Zajac, Martens, Watkins because of an injury on another line. Likewise Duncan, Gregoire, Hextall, and I would have said the same about VV, Trupp, Frattin until Trupp went down. Miller is much more noticeable on the ice now that he has time to play with the puck. He had his moments as a forward, but his transition to D has really given him the space for him to showcase more of his skill. I think that Hakstol will keep him back on the blueline for the rest of the season. There's no reason to move him back up at this point...
