bincitysioux Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Our RBs are obviously not healthy. Did Battle get hurt on the plane-ride too? We need to at least call a running play. Last 3 possessions were 3 and out, 9 pass plays. Quote
Stromer Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I don't know if we can blame this drive on the D. They had them stopped but either an amazing catch or an illegal one was they key to this whole drive. Quote

When we had our back against the wall we came out slinging and it worked. Quote
PCM Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 GVSU scores on a TD pass. Receiver wide open. Quote
sioux4 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 it's hard when your offense can't even get a first down and your D ends up playing for most of the game Quote
BigGame Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 The pass completion early in the drive was a tough break for UND. It doesn't make a difference though if Freund doesn't start playing better and the UND defense slows down the GV run game. Quote

PCM Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 it's hard when your offense can't even get a first down and your D ends up playing for most of the game True. All things considered, the Sioux are fortunate to only be down by two scores. Quote
sioux4 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 only 73 yards of offense for the sioux Quote
sioux4 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 i've been hearing a lot of "in and out of the hands of the intended receiver" ... have they been bad passes or the receivers aren't catching? Quote
Stromer Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Well it's not working now. This defense is pathetic, too. I know it isn't. But the only way we win is if we pass. And the only we we get better at passing is to stick with it. I just don't see this team being hurt by our makeshift run O. Edit: The O line needs to give some protection though for this to work. sioux4 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 i can't even remember if the offense has even gotten into field goal range? Quote
Wilbur Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I know this is late, but what an absolutley HORRIBLE call on that long Grand Valley pass completion. I mean they are shoving it down our throats the way it is, but that cost UND 7 points. First of all the receiver stepped out of bounds and then the ball juggled free when he hit the ground...... It means nothing if UND is shutout, but thats a momentum play right there that the official looked stupid on. Quote
UND92,96 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Maybe Murray can't play anymore due to injury, because that's the only possible reason I can think of as to why we seemed to completely abandon the running game in the second quarter. Running between the tackles seemed like the only way we were going to be able move the ball. I can't help but think this isn't really a case of the GVSU defense just being that good. Their defensive numbers are basically the same as ours. Quote
PCM Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 GVSU leads 14-0 at the end of the half. The good news is that this game is still within reach. The bad news is that if we don't start playing better on both sides of the line, it won't matter. Quote
Taz Boy Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Frustrating to listen to thus far. But, it's only 14pts. That's workable if the offense gets it's rhythm. Go Sioux! Quote
SiouxFanatic Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 The offense needs to start clicking and Freund needs to get his act together. Needs to gain some confidence he's playing like he did against Nebraska-Omaha. Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 At this rate, I am going to have to cheer for Omaha next week! Come on Sioux, don't put me in that position. Quote
sioux4 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 if anything 14 points is a lot easier to come back from than 27 like last year Quote
Oxbow6 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Was there any game planning in place for today for the offense?? Watching the game on TV, it looks like there was "hope" that Chappel could go effectively from the first couple series but since that has not been the case the offense has looked absolutely lost. It is the playoffs and if you can't run the ball or stop the run you're done. The D line looks similar to the UNO game as well. Not saying it's over, but Brittney Spears (fat lady) is warming up...
