While I like Idea of the pens being in the ralph, I would rather love to see the Pens in Winnepeg than KC.

Also, let us have the Manitoba Moose. that would be cool. Grand Forks isn't big enough to support professional team. I'd love it though. I would go to the games.

I hate the idea of KC, Houston, and Vegas being a possible cities, what are they thinking? Attendance is down i believe all across the NHL, you need to market to a gaurunteed attendance city. Though the ralph is to small for an NHL team, its sad that we'll have a better yearly attendance than other cities (Chicago). Winnipeg would be a great city, along with possible portland, I heard they have some amazing hockey fans.

As for Vegas, it would be nice to some sports team, attendance would be great (i'd take a weekend trip out there is one of my teams was playing them), but I don't think hockey would work.

How much of a chance do the Pens have ending up in Winnipeg though? I thought the talk was to move them over to Hamilton, Ontario where they are Sidney Crosby crazy. Don't get me wrong though, it would be great to have them in Winnipeg. How big is that MTS Center that the Moose play in anyway?

I went to the Mack to watch the Las Vegas Thunder twice, the fans were nuts. One game there were like 10 fights and what a game. They were talking about Vegas on NHL XM 204 center ice this moring and apparently its the gambling that keeps professional sports out of Vegas. That I think is dumb.

I am throwing out Winnepeg, it sounds like Hamilton probably won't happen apparently KC is the only viable option in the USA as they have all the luxuary boxes sold already.

I would love to see Winnipeg get another NHL team, but I think the economics of the NHL will force any team to move to some Sunbelt state in the US. Vegas has been trying to land a number of different big league teams for years, so I would not be surprised to see a team land there next, gambling issues notwithstanding. Team owners are really whores, so if money's on the table they'll dispense with their "morals".

But what better way to make the sport of hockey grow in a city that doesn't follow it a lot, than to send a team with Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury? Pittsburgh is a team that is stacked for the future, and will more than likely win some cups. No better way to educate a new city on hockey than to send them a winning team. The city of Nashville loves the Predators. Why? Because they're winning. The Predators wouldn't be having near the success that they're having if they weren't a good team. Granted, I'm amused everytime I go to a Predators game and hear the lack of hockey knowledge the general fan has, but they're learning. I don't see Winnipeg being an option for the Penguins future. It's no secret that Canadian cities struggle to contend with teams in the U.S. Outside of Montreal and Toronto, the hockey hotbeds of Canada, no other city can compete with the larger U.S. city. Lemieux, though Canadian, knows this and will do what's best for his team. I don't know about KC or Houston. I do know that hockey is huge in Vegas.

Based on last nights TSN commentary, if they are to move after this season then KC is the only viable option. Winnipeg's arena is too small and wasn't built with an NHL team in mind.

Vegas may end up being one of the biggest cities in America. Pittsburg is small and shrinking. KC seems foolish. San Diago, Portland, or Seattle might work. Winnepeg absolutely deserves a team, but would require a new stadium.

If it means they get an NHL team, Grand Forks could even change their name to Pittsburg.

I don't think Seattle would work. Seattle cares as much about hockey as Bismarck does. They have a MJ team there and really, F-M Jets games are better attended, IMO. Portland is no different. I think Seattle might work for an AHL or ECHL franchise, but not an NHL one.

I would love to see Winnipeg and Hartford get hockey teams back. I guess the MTS Centre is too small for NHL? I don't understand that, but it's a possibility.

I also don't see pro hockey coming to Grand Forks except for exhibition games.

Hamilton can't happen, because it's too close to Toronto.

Winnipeg would work best because they don't have a market competing with anyone else. I don't know if the Blues would hold some TV right in the Kansas City area. Either place could have the added affect of getting a more midwest division again. The Wild are begging out of that Northwest division and teams like Columbus and Nashville would like to move to the Eastern Conference.

I'm surprised that Oklahoma City isn't getting talk. They have a large enough arena and are begging for a pro team. They tried getting the NHL a few years ago, but maybe they are now considered too much of an NBA town.

Here's one out of left field, what about Milwaukee? They held the Frozen Four last year, so I'm thinking that they must have some kind of a hockey following. The Bradley Center holds between 17,000 and 18,000 for hockey. Is that large enough? Another drawback is that it is too close to Chicago and could possibly invade some of the Blackhawks fan base.

The Penguins are free to move when the 2006-07 season ends following a state panel's rejection Wednesday of a casino company's offer to build the team a new arena for free.

Lemieux said talks will begin shortly with state and local leaders about a new arena, but added a move outside Pennsylvania is another option.

"Accordingly, starting today, the team is off the market," Lemieux said, "and we will begin to explore relocation offers in cities outside Pennsylvania."

Among the cities known to be interested in the Penguins are Kansas City, Mo.; Houston; Portland, Ore.; and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I like the last sentence. Winnipeg Manitoba. God please, that would be awesome.

Texas already stole one hockey team but I wont open that old wound

If Minnesota would support their sports teams then they would have never lost them. They are doing a better job of it now with the new Twins ballpark.

I would like to see hockey return to Winnipeg but I think the town is just too small. Millwaukee has the bradley center and that might work. I personally don't care for the city of Houston but I think a hockey franchise would work there.

Bradley Center is pretty old and not that great of an arena. The Admirals don't play there and I highly doubt the NHL wants to put a team in that arena.

Winnipeg is a lot larger (population wise) than Milwaukee, K.C., Boston, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul. and many more homes for NHL teams. Don't think that's the problem.
