That's my point. Depth guys are necessary but they are what they are, they aren't elite. Slukynsky is a great development story, but there was no indication that he'd breakout when he transferred from Northern Michigan to Western Michigan, other than Ferschweiler being elite at turning nobodies into dudes every year My point is that he produced at the next level and his recruitment wasn’t based on huge numbers in high school, at least his second recruitment. He played half that year at age 19, was defenseman of the year, led the league in +/-, and led defensemen in goals and points, as well as being on a team that won the championship, so I think most teams would take a player that has produced like that in a league where they actually play defense. He hasn’t played well in college, but that is the case with most players who were studs on their junior teams. Quote

Production at a good rate, but not elite rate as a 20 year old on a stacked team (I know the USHL plays defense for the most part, but if you're truly great, you produce way more as a 20 year old) does not indicate you're going to produce a ton of offense at the NCAA level. Gophers fans keep thinking the offense should be there from Gruba when it was really a mirage. Ben Robertson produced at a very quality rate for a defenseman in the USHL, but he did so in his 18 year old season & you've seen a better translation of that offense both at Cornell & now at Michigan. tnt Posted Wednesday at 01:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:37 AM Jett Prpich is playing his first game for Moosejaw tonight. He is a 2010 defenseman, and assume he is related to Mike since both from the same place. Quote
brianvf Posted Wednesday at 01:45 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:45 AM Dang. If he’s anything like his dad’s tenacious style of play, Bryn should add him to the list. 1 Quote

Could be a nice college upperclassman. Quote

He decided not to apply for Exceptional Status, but can play 34 games under the WHL Affiliate Player rules IIRC 1 Quote
yzerman19 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago maddox schultz is an interesting player...he is obviously very, very good. He is physically mature based on his height to weight. He never played in the top end events for his birthyear. Like the WSI U15 is kinda the benchmark. He didn't go. Pue and Thompson were linemates and lit it up... Quote

cberkas Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Nathan Gardiner the top scorer on Shultz and Pue's Regina U18 AAA team with 33-39-72 big jump from last year. I have to look at the list in the SMAAAHL U18s have played WHL this year. 5 of the top 6 at Regina have played in the WHL this season. Quote

I had a chuckle when I saw the tweet cberkas posted here. Observations: Thompson is a stud...1st line center who plays in all situations. The thing that jumped out at me was his attention to the defensive side of his game. He plays with an edge and is very engaged. No periphery play here. On the bench he was the one doing most of the talking. Unfortunately I didn't get to see him show off much of his puck handling/shooting skills...Tonka domininated puck possession time. Hopefully he follows Kristo's college path 😀. 4 Quote
