Jackson did some recruiting at the WJC. If no new commits forthcoming in the next week or so, good bet that these guys are in the CHL this year & not a Euro league, like Stenberg.

They're going hard in the Dub specifically. Head Coach Dennis Williams was the Everett Silvertips head coach before going back to his alma matter. He has all of the minor hockey & major junior hockey connections across Western Canada.

Probably won't know for sure until after his season is over in the QMJHL.

There hasn’t been any specific names being dropped but there was whispers around world juniors of player(s) following MacKenzie to North Dakota. That could be Steiner, Carels, Suvanto, etc. Rumors of current CHL players heading to NCAA next season will probably heat up soon. 
 

Most guys already know where they are going or have a very short list of teams. Leaving the CHL is still frowned upon so I wouldn’t expect an official announcement on anyone until their season ends. There probably is a commitment or two behind closed doors.

^^^ very likely that it’s a silent commitment  and that him / UND don’t want to shakeup his season until after it ends. (Assuming they think his Q team won’t take it well once he officially commits)

Any idea why the Vancouver Giants would trade the leading scorer in the WHL, Cameron Schmidt, to Seattle?  Would assume he isn’t a college candidate, but Seattle does have 2009 Brock England who some have mentioned here who is doing quite nicely for a team not doing well.

BC trying to sign Carter George, not sure how this would work with him signed by the Kings.

Cameron Schmidt hasn't gotten his ELC from Dallas yet, and while it would seem he'd get that soon, the Stars are smart enough to know that most guys making the insanely large jump from junior to pro at 20 years old don't succeed as well as expected, usually bust out entirely or take forever to be NHL ready.

Schmidt would look very good for a number of programs including the usual suspects such as North Dakota, Denver, & Michigan. I just don't know if Schmidt and Dallas have interest in him developing against older, but age appropriate NCAA competition for 2 years.

I doubt Stenberg plays NCAA.   He's already a point/game player in the SHL.   Playing college hockey would be a step back in competition.

With the new rule change you never know. Even just for 1 season. I suppose how high he gets drafted this summer and by which team will be a factor in that decision.

If he's made above the monetary threshold playing pro, then he's ineligible for the NCAA. Unless the Clearinghouse miraculously lets him in (or we get proof he's made less $ than the threshold), my assumption is that Ivar Stenberg is ineligible for NCAA Hockey

Yeah, I don’t want to hear any more NCAA commercials with the phrase “student athlete” in them.   Pretty soon college athletics will be another call up league for the pro teams that hold the players rights, and they will be taking them mid season or whenever they need them.
