I am not discounting him and saying he’s not D1 but I think we are pretty full on that body type.

It's been awhile since we had a pure shooter.

Who does he play for?

Bemidji High School. Think he also plays AAU with Howard Pulley. His dad is former UND player and current Bemidji State Basketball Coach Mike Boschee.

Is Mike Boschee's kid Jaxon a D1 prospect? is he on our radar.

6-3 170

Averaging around 28 a game and 94% from the line and 45% from 3. Dropped 46, including the game winner on the Spuds last night.

He took unofficial visits to UND and NDSU last year, but I think at this point he has division II offers. I could see him maybe going the NSIC route for a year or two, and then transferring to a division I program if he can put up big numbers.

Yeah, he could obviously play for his dad at Bemidji State or for his uncle Jeff at Pittsburgh State.

or Uncle Jeff at und?

Wouldn’t say Jeff has done enough at Pitt State to make me want him. Craig Smith, Kyan Brown or even take the home run swing at Ty. I’m sure there’s other names but Boschee hasn’t exactly killed it there.

Awesome, report back!

Moore is ultra quick with a great handle.  Had 15 points but had a few shots rim out early that would have added to that.

Very good distributor and defender.  Listed at 6'1" but seemed smaller than that, maybe because his team was so long and he's not very thick yet.  He did get up and dunk a ball which was impressive.

So, much like A3?

I’m bored putting a kid to bed, so I started thinking about next year’s roster and wanted to type it out.

Let’s assume everyone who can return next season does return, and the expected newcomers all arrive. That would give us something like:

G: Uelmen, A3, Moore

G: Kraft, Evanson, Doppler

F: Delorme, Marlee, Ouse

F: Guga, Micah, Bothun

C - Jones, Erikson

How would we feel about that group?

If that’s how it plays out, there really wouldn’t be room for additional additions, since it would be three out and three in. That said, I would expect some level of attrition. Whether it’s Uelmen, A3, the Curtis twins, or one of the Bismarck kids, it feels inevitable that someone will move on.

One thing that has been missing during Sather’s time is a truly physical big and a consistent low-post presence. Fil had his moments, Sueker showed flashes early, T had moments, Mathews had potential, Amar was solid, and Guga has had stretches, but it still feels like an area where we’ve come up short. It also doesn’t seem like we’ve taken a ton of swings at addressing it.

Just my opinion, but it feels like that’s a key missing piece.

At some point, the Bismarck guys can’t continue to take up scholarships. Hopefully they prove me wrong but I don’t see either playing any meaningful minutes if they stay.

My biggest takeaway from last Saturday is that we weren’t close to matching up to NDSU overall athletically/length wise/strength wise etc… All I’ve wanted for so long is a rim protector, don’t even care how much offense is provided. I think Kraft has improved this year, but I still see him as more of a 15 minutes per night kind of guy at this level.

Agreed though, I think there will be some attrition and hopefully they can take a chance on some portal guys.

I think Erickson and Bothun leave for D2

Curtis twins would leave if given a chance but to where?  They haven’t proved anything.

with king and Garrett gone, the only pure outside shooter returning is Kraft.

Heard from a reliable source Doppler and Erickson are transferring.  Said they want to be able to play and wont here. We need there scholarships for a couple big men that can contribute

With a Sather extension I would bet the following:

Gone due to out of eligibility: Thomas, King, Anderson

Gone because they want to play: Doppler, Erickson, Bothun, and possibly Ouse

Heavily consider leaving for whatever reason: Curtis Twins, Guga

Could go either way: A3, Uelmen

Stays: Kraft, Jones, Delorme

Incoming: Moore, Evanson, Hanson

Just my opinion

The UND staff just handing out free diplomas. How could it go on for three years where the players gives NOTHING back to the program yet still gets their school paid for and the roster is limited due to it?  In this day and age a coach can cut a player anytime they want for any reason they want.

One thing to point out with this - The Bismarck guys, and you could throw Bothun in with this, were all convinced by the staff to come to UND. They were all told they would most likely get no time or redshirted their freshmen year, and the year after may be limited as well.  The talk was by year 3, they will be a contributor if they work hard. This is now year 3, and they get no time.  I haven't heard that they are not trying or working hard, but unfortunately for them, they are in a rough spot as well. They are not happy about the situation either. They have now spent 3 years here, and have nothing to show. They were told they were D1 players by the staff, and now they have little choice as to enter the portal and hope for the best. These are good kids that are in a crappy situation that they didn't want to be in. If they go, I wish them the best of luck as they got stuck on the wrong side in the business of college sports.

That is on the coaches - not the players.  I don't think any of the players came to UND to milk an education - they could have gotten that at a D2 school.  They all want to play - trust me.

Which is why my post was about the coaches.  They need to make the decision for the player, which then frees up a spot to try and make the roster better.

The problem with those 3 was an average Joe could watch them play and tell you they weren’t d1 players. They should have went to Mary or Minot state, played and developed, and then transferred up if they were good enough

This. I mean you can’t solely blame the staff if the players aren’t happy. They should have been able to do some self reflection sometime in the last 3 years and realized they weren’t D1 players. I don’t know any of them personally so don’t know if they are happy or not.
