Someone else can link the Yahoo Sports story, but I saw that there’s an NCAA proposal to put an age limit (clock starts at age 19) in for eligibility for all sports.

Would assume hockey fights against it &/or gets an exception due to junior hockey existing. Teams don’t want to bring in 18 & 19 years who are woefully underprepared for NCAA Hockey.

Also proposing a 5 year eligibility though. So you can still be a 20 year old freshman , play four years and be a 23 yr old senior.

Plante is returning to Duluth to play with his brothers

I feel like next season might be UMDs last shot at a title in awhile. I think they are a team that won’t be able to keep up in the new world of NIL and CHL.

Seeing the CHLers coming they look to be pretty good.

Yeah, I think every NCAA team will be able to get some good CHLers moving forward...there certainly are enough of them.
I just meant that I don't see any CHL first rounders (or many 1st/2nd rounders in general) going there when there are so many other schools with better facilities and NIL opportunities. Unless there's a ton more Duluth/Superior/Hermantown/Proctor studs coming up the pipe that have dreamed of being a Bulldog forever.

They will have to recruit Canadians and other non Minnesotans more aggressively

It's that time of the year and Minnesota fans don't get it.

If Minnesota and Wisconsin were still in the WCHA If go for them over teams, but the B1G has single handily killed college sports. You can blame the SEC too, but at least their teams are in the same region for the most part. Where you have PAC 12 team leaving for the B1G.

Also, I'd go for Minnesota over all teams not trying to win their first title and not in the WCHA. Minnesota was the last WCHA team I'd root for to win a title.

There are very few teams UND fans will root for Denver to beat, they just so happened to be playing one of them. Simple as that. If it's DU vs. Providence, suddenly it's a home game for the Friars

If it was Maine, I'd pull for Maine because they are the only Hockey East team I like.

Once you act like a whinner (Leaman and Rand, good guys though) I can't root for you over a NCHC team.

Friedge Bomb: Michael Hage returning to Michigan for 2026-27. Spot wasn't going to be fully open in the NHL for Montreal and/or he wanted one last run at a National Championship.

Don't you worry, when they make the tournament next year I'll pick them to win it all thereby eliminating all chances of #4 for Sandy.

But what if Michigan, Minnesota, BC, and BU make it?

Death, taxes, NCHC winning titles, and B1G will surpass everyone because of NIL.

My least favorite NCHC team is Omaha because of how they treated Blais. I did want them to beat Providence when they made the Frozen Four

NIL does add some degree of complexity for them, but, in my opinion, they'll succeed in bringing in plenty of good players because the talent pool is larger than ever.  Maybe they won't net the very best of the available talent, but doesn't seem like they need to do that to be successful anyways.
