He fits the Michigan arrogance stereotype, so that tracks. He's a very good recruiter and made sure things didn't fall apart in the short term after Pearson was forced out, but everyone has been skeptical of his coaching prowess, culminating in last year's tournament miss. I will say that Naurato has done a very good job with Michigan this year so far, didn't expect them to be this good this season.

Very cool - several on the video I would like to see in person - Gutterson - The Whale - Maine wish Minot or Bismarck/Mandan had something more like SHU along with a D1 program - Maysa just needed seats to wrap around both ends I feel

Augie and St Thomas making the tournament so soon after starting programs could be encouraging for fellow upper Midwest private institutions Jamestown or UMary. Or even the Bison...

Looks like Alex Calbeck is being added to the Western Michigan roster following the loss of Joona Vaisanen for the season.

WMU's last add/drop date for classes is January 20th, so it would appear they had time to get Calbeck enrolled & then on the roster.

Nothing jumps out about Alex's stats, but leave it to Ferschweiler to have him become a well-oiled, team-oriented Bronco in short order; no six-figure NIL payout required either. Getting the best out of his players.

WMU has nowhere near the draftees that more prominent schools have, but that doesn't seem to matter. A team can have a roster chock-full of high-grade talent (ie, BU this year), but if the coach can't manage the roles & personalities of his star players well, the team doesn't reach its full potential. They're on my list of approved schools to win a title if UND flames out, because they do college hockey the right way; also because they rep the National well.

Ha, was just posting that @cberkas when I saw your post.

Transfer portal window now only 15 days rather than 45 days.
That'll be good for coaches to know who is leaving within a couple weeks rather than a 1.5 month timeframe.

See if MSU can live up to their preseason hype in this series & show that they belong on the big stage in Vegas; or if their wagon is missing a wheel.

USPHL is pay to play from wat I've seen. These are D3/ACHA players most of the time

Was supposed to take 2 weeks to get past the clearinghouse that took 8 weeks. Then gets hurt in practice tangling up with another player and has a "hole" in his arm where they could see his tendons. According to the coach lucky he didn't cut any tendons.
