brianvf Posted yesterday at 01:21 AM Posted yesterday at 01:21 AM 4-0 UM, but WMU is challenging the goal with 10sec left. Won't change anything. WMU is gonna need to bounce back tomorrow. Quote
cberkas Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM Michigan beats Western Michigan 4-0 It hit the guy hanging over the boards and is still a good goal wowwwwwwww. Quote
atxsioux Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Props to Michigan they actually look pretty legit that was an impressive win This is kind of how I viewed Western pretty much every year until last year. Solid team but never really considered them a threat against contending teams in the top 10. Will be interesting to see how the next few years shape up for them 1 Quote

Clearly hit the UM player, and then drastically changed direction. Can't believe it wasn't overturned. Didn't change the end result, but shows the bias of the officials. 1 Quote
Godsmack Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Let’s hope Western can win tomorrow back in Kalamazoo. Quote

brianvf Posted yesterday at 01:46 AM Posted yesterday at 01:46 AM https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2025/10/23_This-Week-in-College-Hockey.php Quote The NCAA has paused discussions on a potential rule change that would have extended eligibility to five seasons for all student-athletes. In an email sent Wednesday to all Division I athletic directors, commissioners, presidents, and chancellors, Josh Whitman, chair of the Division I Cabinet, announced that the proposal has been tabled for now. Whitman wrote that all current student-athletes — as well as those competing during the 2026-27 season — will “maintain existing eligibility rules as they pertain to student-athletes competing in no more than four seasons of athletics competition in a particular sport over a consecutive five-year period.” Whitman added that the cabinet continues to examine possible adjustments to the rule, along with several related regulations, but no formal action is expected before the 2027-28 academic year. All it will take is one lawsuit and this rule will probably change too. That would be horrible. The last thing we need is an endless cycle of 5th year players like during the COVID rule madness. Dang that's brutal. Hope he can get back on the ice soon, hate to hear stuff like that happening to any team, even if it's the hated Gophers. Can't imagine why any potential recruit would want to play in the cesspool that is Minneapolis. 1 Quote

If recruiting against them for out of state players, send the long list of assaults and shootings that have happened over the past half year to the parents of the prospective recruit. Quote
SIOUXpucks Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Last night Western had their chances in the first, with quite a bit of PP time, but they couldn't convert. If they had gotten one when they had chances I wonder how different the game would have been. Sucked to see Perron get one, but that was also a fantastic shot, credit to him. Last year that would have hit the post or gone wide and rimmed out of the zone. The allowed goal at the end was perplexing, as it obviously hit a UM guy. The ref announced that since it occurred in the neutral zone the goal stood. Perhaps there's some limit to the "illegal touch" challenge, where it needs to occur in the O or D zone. If so that'd be dumb and anything like that should be reviewable if it directly involves a goal. Quote
nascar99 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Like I've said, Michigan is built much much better than previous' years teams. A lot better balance of high end skill and depth. They're gonna be dangerous, especially if Ivankovic remains great between the pipes Quote

ND_Texan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Was not at all impressed with Western last night. They were out skated, outplayed in the corners, and drastically outplayed in the neutral zone. Plus, they took a lot of lazy cheap stick penalties. We’ll see what happens tonight, but they looked like a very average team last night. Quote
