siouxfaninseattle Posted September 9 Posted September 9 It will take a couple of years for all this to play out - lots of moving parts. I think the CHL will be primarily a league of younger players (16-18). But some players will probably not want to spend endless hours on a bus and play so many games at the expense of learning the game. That could be a niche for the USHL. Quote

atxsioux Posted Wednesday at 11:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:30 PM More or less a super aged out junior player like the others that have done this recently. It makes headlines that they are "former pros" but its not much different than any other aged out JR player coming in as a freshman. What is interesting is that it sets a precedent for say an Ivar Stenberg who is playing 1 year pro over in sweden this year before he's drafted in 2026. In theory I don't see how he cant get the same exception and play in the NCAA starting in 2026 if he would want to. 1 Quote

Believe that nullifies any potential NCAA eligibility. Although the European Pro basketball players that the NCAA has ruled eligible means anything in theory is possible. Quote

College hockey will turn into a super old league full of these guys and full blown blue chips. Where are the rest of the “kids” going to play? I am this Beck guy averaged a pt/gm in the Coast and had 3 pts in 4 games in the A. This one doesn’t make a ton of sense. Quote

The NCAA has to come out and amend some bylaws to make it clear who is eligible and who isn't, or it turns into an even crazier Wild West recruiting world 2 Quote
.357 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago The NCAA is amateur in name only; in reality it's become a semi-pro league. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if down the road they allow mid-season trades. Alice in Wonderland kinda stuff. And am wondering how Beck joined ASU so late; thought rosters had to be finalized when fall classes start, & it looks like ASU's fall classes started back in August. Quote

Guessing they were waiting for green light from NCAA. Quote

Rosters have to be finalized when the entrance/drop date for fall term classes occurs. Hence why Pitlick enrolled so late at Minnesota State and was on their roster very late. Quote

cberkas Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago My very non-scientific prediction of how the NCHC will finish. 1. Western Michigan: They are 1st until they get knocked off the top. 2. Denver: David Carle always gets the most out of his players. 3. Arizona State: I think goaltending is their weakness 4. North Dakota: I want to see that this staff is different in how they approach the games. They need to finish off their opponents when up in the 3rd instead of the “prevent defense” of the last few years. 5. CC: They have a lot of Freshman and I’ve seen teams with a big Freshman class do well 6. Omaha: Not sold on the USports players 7. Duluth: They have one line and can the goalie stay healthy the whole year. They have the former Miami backup/starter as the backup 8. Miami: They overhauled the entire team this year expect them to win at least 1 conference game 😉 9. St. Cloud: I don’t see them better than they were when they lost Posch. They were bad last year, just lucky that Miami was worse. Their starter looks to be former Miami starter/backup. The top 4 looks to be Western Michigan, Denver, Arizona State, and North Dakota. Hobey and #1 pick will come from UND this year 😁 1 2 Quote

brianvf Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I think both WMU and DU take a step back this year. Still guessing that they’ll both be in the top 4, but I don’t see either being dominant like they could be at times last season. Quote
