Why does our favorite university ALWAYS allow their athletic programs to hit darn near rock bottom before they decide to make a change?  Years and years of slow degradation but nothing happens until it's cratered

Because it takes a while to roll up sleeves on oversized shirt

You are missing the point. The problem is that MBB and WBB are or were being run like high school programs. This isn't high school. It's Division I athletics. And it's high time Chaves and this department do what they did with FB and hockey.

I don’t know, ask Chaves

Hanna Miller's dad pulled the curtain on the team in a few tweets after the last game.  Basically said we got out coached by a team that had to have open try outs at the beginning of the year and then Omaha lost by 50 to NDSU.   He also said no one wants to play for this coaching staff.  I am guessing he has some inside information on how the team is really feeling.  The whole front of family culture blah blah blah.   I didnt expect alot from this team this year and I got WAY less and I didnt set my bar very high for this team. I wanted to give Hutter a chance, but he didnt adjust his coaching stye at all for the players he had.  We chucked 3 pointers all season and we have horrible 3 point shooters!  I figured at some point in the season he would have stopped that.

Some of his points might be true but I don’t know. His daughter shot 20% from the field this year. I’m guessing that’s where a lot of his anger is coming from

Who also has another daughter that starts for Butler. Id say he probably knows a little about basketball and obviously you dont.   I have no daughter on the team and I could tell you there is some team chemistry issues.   You probably thought last years team was all sunshine and rainbows too until it blew up and everyone left.

I am not defending his daughter or her playing.  My point is she is hearing stuff in the locker room.   I am guessing he thinks his own daughter probably shouldnt be shooting the 3's that she did.    Someone is going to defend his philosophy of casting 3's at a fast pace with the team had?

I’m not saying what he said is wrong. I’m just skeptical of what a parent says when a season did not go well for that parents child

I guess we will see how many players go into the portal or if its one big happy family.

I can't blame the coaching strategies when the team is clearly outmatched talent wise most nights.   Sure, bringing in talent falls on the coaching staff, but this is year one after the cupboard was left quite bare.  And yeah, chemistry is going to suffer when everyone is frustrated from losing and getting blown out all too often.

Shooting wasn’t this teams strength, not sure they had a strength

I listened to the Minot girl on a podcast and she seems excited to come to UND next year, the other Minot girl is going to oklahoma .

its funny when you listen to recruits no matter what sport they usually say it was because of the coaching staff and being treated like FAMILY as being a reason they chose a school.

I've heard similar from another source on the team.  I think you always have to take information like that with a grain of salt.  That said, if a team has chemistry issues, and the coaches have lost the team, the result would most likely be very similar to what we just saw. You don't have to believe what you hear, but if what you hear matches what you see, the potential that it's true goes up in my mind. Hutter looked and acted pissed off on the bench most of the season. He was muttering to the refs, players, and anyone around. He looked miserable - but nothing really changed. I'm sure the players had a level of miserable as well. It doesn't make for a tight group.

I wonder what the assistant coaches think of him

the lady that followed him from mayville  must like him, she’s an attorney also , I think his sideline demeanor is his nature, Bobby  night always looked upset on the sidelines and then he would toss a chair onto the floor

All I'm saying is that it gives me pause whenever I hear disparaging comments from someone who MAY have an axe to grind, especially when I hear it second or third hand.  Perhaps we'll see whenever the beloved portal opens.  FYI, I coached varsity boys BB for 29 years.

He was the same at Mayville, and they won a bunch.

I said in earlier post that Hutter did not make any adjustments and kept running an offense that chucked 3s.  No development in post play so every game the same dribble around with no place to go.  That is on the coaching staff.  At the Div I level UND should demand better now.  They don’t have time to wait as there has been no indication it will get better this route.

Hannah had some talent, 10 points in 2nd round of Big 12 last year. Right hand, left hand, played some D and hit some 3’s.

But couldn’t find minutes for our team?

She shot 20%. Her last made FG came in December

Played 216 minutes all year? Clearly when others from D3 play 5x - 1000+ minutes. She was not given a chance. Watch the tape.

I was wrong with my original stat. Post Christmas she played 115 minutes and made 2 FG. 2/19 from the floor. She shot 10% from the floor. What are we even talking about??
