Good young WF goalie on that AA team.  He could've been the guy for Sheyenne this year.  Horace kid though, so if they have a team in 2 years he's a flight risk unless he "open enrolls" elsewhere.

Did you hear anything about Mattern going the Force next season over the weekend? A WF parent told me that Friday night

I know you mean Aviators Bantam AA but all grand forks youth hockey association teams are called the aviators.

I have not.  Spoke to his head coach as well and he didn't really know what the plans were.

I've been told by people "in the know" the past weekend....

they for sure know he's going to be in the BCHL....

and another said Ontario Junior Hockey League...

and another said Force...

But Major Junior was the most commonly spouted prognosis.

Conclusion: Not a clue gotta see I guess, he could land almost anywhere next weekend, including WF.

Really? I've never heard that before to be honest.

In fact I was told ademently to NOT use that logo on a non BAA media piece.

I did a little homework, it looks like the only league where Mattern is protected is the NAHL, so that makes him a free agent across the rest of junior hockey.  That also means tougher to get that roster spot, but it does give you freedom.  Good luck to him and all the kids.

I saw a lot of kids with Aviators jackets and hats around the Ralph this past weekend so I'm guessing you are right on that

Yep.  Watertown.  Heard he has family there, so an easy transition to finish out the year, but from what I've heard he may have other options.

Houkom should've been on the all tournament team and Otto MVP.  They both deserved the recognition.
