Don't get me wrong, I've gotten a bench minor or two in my day, but you are on that much of an emotional rollercoaster that you can't hold it together as a spectator of a game. We love our kids, we support them, but its way out of hand now. Last week at the WF sports arena in the Squirt C International (emphasis on squirt C), I overheard a dad from Bismarck say he was going to make a call on Monday and these officials "would never work another game". Mind you, this was the #4 losers bracket 3rd and 4th place game......USA hockey begs, and I mean begs people to try and stay calm.....and its only gotten worse. I ran the box of a consolation round Squirt C game a few weekends ago and I thought I was going to get shanked for accidentally making the score 3-1 instead of 2-1 for probably a full 15 seconds. I instantly realized I added 2 goals instead of 1 and was working on fixing it and about got bull rushed by the coaches and fans . I'm doing a few 10U girls game this weekend, and I might wear kevlar. People are friggin nuts. 2 Quote

From someone who was at the game it was the Williston's coaches wife who got the boot. Classy Quote

Johnny Five Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Listening to livebarn you can sort of hear what's going on. Not the best audio but it sounds like "go home" followed by a "do your f*&king job." This was with about 3 minutes left in the game and Williston down 5-1 after a blast to a LHS players dome. There was some other heckling going on as well.... They're having a hard time finding ref to work up in Williston for obvious reasons, rumor on the street is Andy Carton will be there Saturday for Willy and Mandan. This should probably get put on PSP hahahaha. 2 Quote

I have officiated mites to college since 97 - last game I’ve done was around 2020 or so - I can honestly say I do not miss it. Quote

One of the last games I ever officiated was a squirt B game where the game winning goal in OT barely went in (but did). Talk about done as a society.....I'm still embarrassed for those people. 2 Quote
sioux rube Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Devils Lake 2 Sheyenne 0. Forsberg with a 37 save shutout Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Looks like OT in Rugby for Bott/ Mandan Quote
sioux rube Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Mattern could only muster up one goal in their 7-1 win over South/Shanley Quote
Wilbur Posted February 8 Posted February 8 6-8 in the EDC very unsettled at the moment. Sheyenne could finish as low as 8th, while Devils Lake could fight themselves out of the play in game with wins over North and South/Shanley. Quote
Wilbur Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Looked like an uneventful game in Williston last night between the Yotes and Mandan. 2-1 Mandan in OT. Minot over Dickinson 6-1. Mayport beats Bottineau in non conference. Quote
Johnny Five Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hard to believe the boys are down to the last week of the regular season. Once that calendar flips, the season flies by. Top 4 in the East are locked: GFC, RR, WF, Davies...just depends on RR and WF for 2/3, and North has the inside track on the 5. One big game out west this week: Mandan at Jamestown. Odds are this will be the 4/5 matchup in the opening round of the WDA as well, so this will determine home game for that one. Looks like the west will shake out as: Minot, CHS, LHS, Mandan/James, Mandan/James, Bottineau, Willy, BHS, Dickinson, Hazen. 2 Quote
Johnny Five Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Girls side it's looking like: North, GF, CHS, Mandan, L/B, Minot, WFU, Davies. Seeding 2-7 is still sort of a hot mess and some teams have 2 games left...while some have 3, 4, or 5. This state tournament is going to be an absolute crap shoot. 1 Quote

I think RR and WF are just as likely to win the ship as GFC or Minot are at this point. And even with that said, RR, WF and GFC will all have to bring their A game at EDC to even make it to the state tournament. This might be the tightest EDC tournament in quite some time. I wouldn't consider FN or Davies making it to state a fluke by any means. WFS, FSS or DL squeaking in would call for some decent upsets, but not miracles. This should make for a fun home stretch! 2 Quote
sioux rube Posted February 10 Posted February 10 This happened to my bantam team Saturday against Fargo. The penalty box worker let one of my players out early so we had too many players on the ice. Ref blew the whistle and called us on it. I vehemently said that is not a penalty as it was the penalty box workers fault. Needless to say I got my first bench in 4 years 1 Quote
Johnny Five Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Not sure I've ever seen that called before... Quote

I sent the rule to the ref so he knows if it happens again. Of course the guy who let him out early is a parent of one of my players and he apologized more than once Quote

I was watching a game the other weekend, maybe ASU/DU, and saw the same thing called. Player was let out early and they stopped play and penalized the team for too many men. According to your posted rule it shouldn't have been a penalty but perhaps NCAA is different. Quote

They put Laba back in and when the second penalty ended, they let Laba out (the 4x4 penalty) and forgot to let the other CC player out after the whistle. The refs were going to call too many men but just put Laba back in once the next whistle came Quote
Wilbur Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Tonight's predictions: -North over DL -Central over GPR -Century over BHS -Dickinson over HB -Jamestown over Mandan -Minot over Williston -RR over South/Shanley -WFHS over Sheyenne Busy night. Quote
