I think GFRR will be fine scoring, they'll have enough depth to be right there. Wilbur Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Watching EGF and RR. What happened to Werre for RR? Thought he'd be the guy this year. Quote
Johnny Five Posted November 30 Posted November 30 2 entertaining games at the VFW in Bismarck last night. WF over Century 7-5, North over Legacy 3-2. Fun night at the rink, people got their money's worth. There was a nice old school scrum at the end of the North/Legacy with 11 seconds left game too. Veteran move by the officials...took one guy from each side and called it a day. Quote
Wilbur Posted November 30 Posted November 30 EDC may be more open than I thought. Lets see how Central plays against EGF today. Quote
Johnny Five Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Couple more good games out west today. Legacy over WF 4-3 in OT. Mattern is definitely explosive. North over Mandan 3-2. Went to both games, both were basically even on game play. Mandan showed they outshot North by a bit but I felt North had a slight edge in possession. Quote
Wilbur Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Tuesday night will be interesting as Central and WF meet at Purper. WF can definitely score, but will they be able to hold Central under 5 or 6? Other games of interest include Davies @ Sheyenne. Sheyenne was ahead of Roseau in the third period Saturday before the Rams scored three to win it. Quote

Curious how those turn out after North and WF trips west last weekend. Also curious to see what kind of run Mandan can give Minot out west. 9 games on the boys side on Tuesday, busy night. 5 games on the girls side that night as well. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted December 4 Posted December 4 What a night of hockey around the state. With the web cams it's easy to follow it all. RR beat North 8-7 in OT. RR has goalie problems I'm told. Central beat WFHS 9-2. WFHS looking for a goalie too. Sheyenne beat Davies 5-4. Fun game to watch. Minot beat Mandan 7-0. The magi have a chance to be playing Saturday night in Grand Forks in February. Those were the ones I followed. I saw Williston was ahead of Dickinson and Devils Lake beat Grafton. Quote

Jamestown was tied with Legacy 2-2 with less than 4 to go in third and took a 5 min major, then scored shorthanded, and killed the remaining penalty time to upset the Sabers, who beat WF in OT last Saturday. I think all 3 Jamestown goals were breakaways as a result of breakdowns/turnovers and they took advantage of it. Girls side: L/B: 1-0 over Minot Mandan: 4-0 over Williston GF: 5-0 over DL Davies: 3-0 over WF CHS: 6-4 over Jamestown Quote

I wonder when the last time someone ran the table in the WDA if ever. I understand Mandan had the flu bug ravage their team, but Minot was also out 2 really good players due to injury as well. It's going to take a fluke for anyone in the WDA to beat Minot. The wildest stat is I don't think they've won the WDA tournament since like 2008 (can't recall year but it's been a LONG time). Quote
sioux rube Posted December 4 Posted December 4 Jamestown has a new coach on the boys side in Jake Stillwell. I coached with his dad Mark when Jake and my daughter played together in mites and squirts. Mark coached the Jays in the late 90's and early 20's. Talked to some of the players about Jake and they absolutely love him 1 Quote

The kid that would have been there goalie went to North Star this year. Quote
Johnny Five Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Didn't have DL beating WF 5-2 on the Bingo Card for the night. Looks like Mattern was kept off the score sheet which helps. Busy weekend again coming up. 8 girls games and 7 boys. Quote

But they have a good goalie that will win them a few games this season that they're not supposed to win. Fairly impressive in that it was at West Fargo, the preseason no. 3 in the EDC. Quote

Wilbur Posted December 8 Posted December 8 North-WF last night was fun to watch. Race horse hockey both ways in a 7-6 WF win. It's funny to me that every coach I talk to knows that Mattern is going to cherry pick the entire game and he still gets open in the last minute for a breakaway goal. One coach told me he's the best he's ever seen at it. Credit to North. They graduated a ton of points, and they are out there battling their tails off in another game they fell three goals behind in. Yeah he's constantly on the move. Quote
Johnny Five Posted December 8 Posted December 8 After 2 weeks it looks like North is the clear cut favorite for Girls hockey. It's gonna take a "best" effort and some luck to beat them. After that, it is quite literally going to be a dogfight to get into the state tournament. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I appreciate the passion for high school hockey here. I read the posts and might watch a game 1 Quote

Not sure if the Jays will be one of those teams but they will definitely be there in the future. 11 players either freshman or 8th graders including their goalie Quote
