SiouxVolley
With Catalonia declaring independence, FC Barcelona could be left with out a league, as their fans are already enraged that Spain has declared Catalonia's vote and independence null and void. Catalonia is the economic engine for Spain, so understand why Spain needs it, but it should be it's own country like in the days before Ferdinand and Isabella, who united the Kingdoms of Aragon and Castille to form Spain. FC Barcelona is one of the most valuable sporting properties in the world. If it jumps to another league, that league would have a vastly bigger TV audience. The English League might make the most sense. http://www.marketplace.org/2017/10/04/world/catalonias-independence-could-shake-soccer

cberkas
Spain would lose the Spanish Grand Prix if Catalonia dose become independent. F1 could move the Spanish Grand Prix back to Valencia.

Real Madrid will make sure of it. Btw, the English league would make very little sense at all.

Besides tensions are very high and deaths could result from playing. If Barca can make a deal with the English Premiere League, the TV rights would go from high to astronomical as the whole soccer world would tune in. JohnboyND7
I'd put money on them joining the French or Italian leagues before joining England.

Bundesliga has really strict ownership rules, and they don't really need a team like Barca at all. They have the highest league attendance in the world. Not sure how Barca's ownership is set up either. France and Italy have no real rules regarding ownership that I'm aware of. France is also right next door and already allows a non-French team(Monaco) to play in their league. Italy has fantastic weather. The whole discussion is relatively worthless as La Liga is going to keep them. The value of La Liga goes down bigly without Barcelona to be the protagonist/antagonist to Real Madrid. The league's no fun with the Cowboys to play the Redsk ... I mean Dallas to play Washington. Yankees gotta have their Red Sox.

SiouxVolley
In the past year, there has been talk of European Super league taking over the Champions League tournament for Euro club champ. Right now, in all the leagues there are tiny clubs with 10k seats that qualify for their nations top league. Barca plays at 10 k seat stadiums right now in La Liga, compared to its home with 100k seats in Barcelona. That is worse than the Vikings playing a game at the Alerus.. Although Barca denies it, Catalonian indepence could be the accelerant for a Euro Superleague. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11833/11074230/
